ESIC Hospital Gwalior Senior Resident and Specialist Recruitment 2026
On this page
Doctors who miss ESIC Hospital Gwalior’s walk-in on 18 November 2026 can come back on the third Wednesday of a later month. ESIC Gwalior Senior Resident Recruitment 2026 covers 27 contract posts at the hospital in Madhya Pradesh. They are 12 Specialist posts (full time or part time), 10 three-year Senior Resident posts and 5 one-year Senior Resident posts. On 18 November, doctors must report between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. These are contract jobs with no claim to a regular post. Senior Residents mainly need MBBS plus an MD, MS, DNB or PG diploma in the subject. They must be 45 or younger on the interview day, with relaxation for reserved groups.
27 posts, one seat per department, in the ESIC Gwalior Senior Resident Recruitment 2026 tables
The notice splits the posts into three tables (pages 1 and 2). Each department has one post. The category of that one post is fixed in the table. The Specialist table does not say which posts are full time and which are part time.
| Post | Departments and category of the one post | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Specialist, full time or part time | Biochemistry (UR), Microbiology (OBC), Dermatology (UR), ENT (SC), Eye (OBC), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EWS), Paediatrics (OBC), Radiology (SC), Surgery (ST), Psychiatry (UR), Dental Endodontist (OBC), Accident and Emergency (UR) | 12 |
| Senior Resident, 3 years | Anaesthesiology (ST), Biochemistry (UR), Pathology (UR), Chest or Pulmonology (OBC), Dermatology (UR), ENT (UR), Eye (SC), Orthopaedics (EWS), Radiology (OBC), Surgery (SC) | 10 |
| Senior Resident, 1 year | Obstetrics and Gynaecology (UR), Orthopaedics (UR), Paediatrics (OBC), Surgery (UR), Accident and Emergency (OBC) | 5 |
| Total | 27 |
UR means unreserved, and EWS means economically weaker section. The hospital can add, remove, increase or reduce posts at any stage (page 2). Page 7 also says that if any discrepancy in the vacancies is noted later, it may be corrected. PwD (persons with disability) reservation follows Government of India rules.
Senior Resident at ESIC Gwalior: PG degree, or MBBS with two years
The page 3 heading puts both Senior Resident posts under the central residency scheme. Page 7 is more exact: the 3-year post is under that scheme, and the 1-year post fills vacant GDMO (General Duty Medical Officer) or regular Senior Resident posts. The main route needs:
- MBBS from a college recognised by the NMC (National Medical Commission), the old MCI (Medical Council of India) or a State Medical Council;
- a PG diploma or degree (MD, MS or DNB) in the relevant subject;
- registration with the NMC or the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council.
No experience is needed on this route. There is a second route for the 1-year post only. An MBBS doctor without a PG degree can be taken for one year if PG doctors are not available. That doctor needs two years of experience, with one year in the same specialty, in a government or private hospital. Work in a private clinic does not count (page 3).
The age limit is 45 years on the date of interview. SC, ST, OBC, PwD and ex-servicemen get relaxation as per DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) rules. The notice does not print the number of years.
One rule matters for fresh PG doctors. You must hold the qualification and the registration on the interview day. Doctors whose result is awaited will not be considered (page 4). Page 5 separately says you must be registered with a medical council before joining.
Specialists: 3 years after a PG degree or 5 after a diploma, up to age 67
A Specialist needs MBBS with a PG diploma or degree (MD, MS or DNB) in the subject. The notice also allows BDS with a PG diploma or MDS in the relevant subject, which fits the Dental (Endodontist) post. The experience rule is (page 3):
- 3 years of experience after the PG degree, or
- at least 5 years in the specialty after a PG diploma.
The age limit for Specialists is 67 years on the date of interview. Full-time Specialists get priority over part-time ones (page 6).
Rs 67,700 for full-timers, Rs 60,000 for four-hour part-time sessions
Senior Residents and full-time Specialists start at Pay Level 11 with a basic pay of Rs 67,700. The notice adds “other allowances as admissible in ESIC” (page 3). Pay Level 11 is a step on the central government pay matrix. Pay is on a “no work, no pay” basis. The notice does not list the allowances or a gross monthly figure, so we have not estimated the take-home pay.
Part-time Specialists are paid differently:
- Rs 60,000 a month for a four-hour session a day, four days a week;
- Rs 15,000 a month more if they agree to take emergency calls after hours;
- Rs 800 for each extra hour above 16 hours a week, if the Medical Superintendent approves it.
The contract gives no PF (provident fund), pension, gratuity, medical allowance, seniority or promotion. No hostel, quarters or uniform is given (pages 6 and 7). Private practice is barred for full-time Specialists and Senior Residents. Full-time Specialists must be on call 24×7, and Senior Residents must do the emergency duties the Medical Superintendent assigns.
Page 2 and page 9 disagree on the ESIC Gwalior draft amount
The fee is paid by demand draft in favour of “ESI Fund Account No. 1”, payable at Gwalior. The notice gives two different fee rules:
| Where | Who pays | Who pays nothing |
|---|---|---|
| Fee table, page 2 | All other categories: Rs 500 | SC, ST, women, ex-servicemen and PH (physically handicapped) candidates |
| Note on the application form, page 9 | UR and OBC: Rs 300 | SC, ST, ex-servicemen, EWS and PH candidates |
The two lines differ on the amount, on women and on EWS candidates. The notice does not say which one applies. The letterhead gives the hospital’s phone as 0751-2422730 and its e-mail as ms-gwalior.mp@esic.gov.in. Call or e-mail the hospital to confirm the amount and your category before you make the demand draft. Do not rely on either line alone.
Rs 10,000 deposit and indemnity cover after selection
Papers and payments a doctor must arrange for the interview and for joining:
- a security deposit of Rs 10,000 by demand draft or banker’s cheque, refundable after successful completion of the contract and a no-dues certificate (pages 5 and 6);
- an agreement on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 1,000;
- a medical fitness certificate from the Medical Board at ESIC Hospital, Gwalior;
- a savings account with the State Bank of India, if you do not have one;
- an NOC (No Objection Certificate) at the interview, if you are already in service (page 5);
- MP Medical Council registration within 30 days of joining, if you are not already registered there, and its additional qualification registration certificate (page 4).
Specialists must also buy a professional indemnity policy and submit it within 7 days of joining, or the contract ends (pages 6 and 7). The minimum cover is Rs 30 lakh a year for anaesthesiologists and cardiac, neuro and plastic surgeons. It is Rs 20 lakh for general surgeons, gynaecologists and obstetricians. Physicians, dentists, radiologists and pathologists need Rs 10 lakh. Each list ends with “etc.”, and the notice does not place every advertised specialty in a band.
How long each ESIC Gwalior contract runs
- Full-time Specialist: one year, extendable up to 3 years after a yearly review. Leave is 4 days per month of work. Unused leave can be cashed up to 30 days a year (page 6).
- Part-time Specialist: one year from joining, at least 16 hours a week, with no leave or other benefits (page 7).
- Senior Resident: the 1-year post fills vacant GDMO posts or unfilled regular Senior Resident posts. The 3-year post is under the central residency scheme. Both end early if a regular GDMO joins. In that case the last doctor to join is the first to go (page 7).
Either side can end the contract with one month’s notice (page 6). A Specialist’s contract also ends at once if a regular post-holder joins. For Senior Residents, fifteen days of absence without permission counts as leaving the job (page 7).
Reporting at Room 1 of ESIC Hospital Gwalior on 18 November
- Fill the application form in Annexure A (pages 9 and 10). Paste a recent passport-size photo.
- Bring originals and one set of self-attested copies (page 4). These include ID and address proof, and your Class 10 certificate for date of birth. The checklist on page 10 also accepts a birth certificate. Add Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, MBBS and PG certificates and the internship certificate. Bring your NMC or MP Medical Council registration and renewal, experience certificates and two photos.
- OBC doctors need a central-list non-creamy layer certificate in the DoPT format. The notice says a central OBC certificate is valid for one year from issue (page 5). EWS doctors need the DoPT format of 31 January 2019.
- Report at the Medical Superintendent’s office (Room 1), ESIC Hospital, Tansen Road, Gwalior, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on 18 November 2026. No one is taken for document checks after 11:00 AM (page 8). Only doctors whose documents pass go to the interview.
No TA or DA (travel and daily allowance) is paid for the interview or for joining (page 5). The selection board’s decision is final.
Third-Wednesday walk-ins at ESIC Gwalior after 18 November
The 18 November round is not the only chance. After it, the hospital will hold interviews on the third Wednesday of every month (page 1). If that day is a gazetted holiday, the interview moves to the next Thursday, or as notified. ESIC says these later rounds will be announced only on esic.gov.in/recruitments, with no newspaper advertisement. The post list may change from month to month, so check the notice for each round.
Other MP and ESIC walk-ins for PG doctors
In Bhopal, AIIMS Bhopal Junior Resident posts have a walk-in on 19 November 2026, the day after Gwalior. ESIC’s Varanasi faculty and Senior Resident posts are another contract option. PG-qualified doctors can browse jobs for postgraduates. State-wide openings are on our Madhya Pradesh government jobs page, and hospital posts across India are on the health sector jobs list.
