BCECEB Senior Resident Tutor 2026 (III) Recruitment: 575 Bihar Tenure Posts
On this page
BCECEB Senior Resident Tutor 2026 round III fills 575 three-year tenure posts in Bihar’s government medical colleges and hospitals, for the state Health Department. The online form runs from 2 November 2026 to 23 November 2026 (registration until 10 PM, fee and final submission until 11:59 PM). It is for doctors with a PG degree in one of ten subjects, such as Radiotherapy, Radiology, TB and Chest, and Psychiatry. There is no written exam and no scored interview. Selection is on a points table built from your MBBS marks, your marks in the speciality subject, higher degrees and government or semi-government work in Bihar.
BCECEB Senior Resident Tutor 2026 posts in ten subjects
A Senior Resident (SR) or Tutor is a teaching and clinical post held for a fixed term, here three years. BCECEB prepares a panel, and the Health Department, Government of Bihar, appoints from it. The prospectus table (Annexure-1, pages 10 and 11) gives these totals:
| Subject | Posts |
|---|---|
| Radiotherapy | 72 |
| Radiology | 68 |
| TB and Chest | 68 |
| Psychiatry | 58 |
| Physiology | 57 |
| Anatomy | 56 |
| Dermatology (Skin and VD) | 56 |
| Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) | 55 |
| Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM) | 52 |
| Geriatrics | 33 |
| Total | 575 |
Each subject row is split by category (SC, ST, EBC, BC, BC women, UR and EWS). For SC, ST, EBC and BC it also splits backlog and current posts. The table shows a 35% share for women in each category; for SC, ST, EBC and BC it is applied to the current posts. Read your subject’s row in the prospectus before you apply.
Two more quotas apply. Persons with disabilities get 19 posts (the 4% disability quota), and grandchildren of freedom fighters get 1 post (the 2% quota), in Geriatrics. The prospectus calls both quotas horizontal and does not explain further. Disability posts marked with a star in the table are carried forward under General Administration Department resolution 962 of 22 January 2021. The Health Department may change the number of posts, and any change in subject or category counts will be announced at counselling.
Bihar cadre doctors 40%, Bihar PG pass-outs 40%, outside PG 20%
The advertisement divides the posts by where the doctor comes from:
- 40% for members of the Bihar State Health Service cadre;
- 40% for doctors who did their PG degree (residency scheme) in Bihar’s medical colleges;
- 20% for doctors who did their PG degree (residency scheme) at recognised institutions outside Bihar.
An outside-state PG doctor therefore competes for a smaller share. If you joined the Bihar Health Service before the last date of the form, the prospectus treats you as a cadre doctor for all purposes.
PG degree, diploma and DNB rules in the BCECEB 2026 (III) prospectus
The minimum qualification is a postgraduate (PG) degree in the same subject. A DNB or DNB Super Speciality counts, under the National Medical Commission (NMC) faculty qualification regulations of 2025. An equivalent PG degree accepted by the old MCI teacher rules also counts. A degree not recognised by MCI or NMC is not considered.
A PG diploma counts only if there are not enough candidates with a degree. A diploma holder then gets the same 10 points as a PG degree, but is placed below all degree holders in the merit list.
For “non-medical faculty” in subjects such as Anatomy and Physiology, the notice requires a medical M.Sc together with a PhD. This most likely covers candidates who come through the M.Sc route rather than MBBS and MD, but the notice does not spell it out.
A few more rules from the prospectus:
- Your PG result must be out by 23 November 2026. A result declared after the last date is not accepted. The last day of the month in which the exam was held counts as your passing date.
- A PG in a broad speciality lets you apply for SR in a related super speciality. MD Medicine holders can apply for Geriatrics.
- If you hold PG degrees in more than one subject, apply separately for each department. Once you are selected in one subject, you cannot be selected in another.
- Lecturers and Assistant Professors who never did an SR or Tutor term can apply.
- Foreign medical graduates are scored on their FMGE marks, not their degree marks.
Upper age 37 to 42 on 1 August 2026, plus five years for cadre doctors
Age is counted on 1 August 2026, under the Bihar General Administration Department resolution 294 of 7 January 2016. The notice gives only upper limits:
| Category | Upper age limit |
|---|---|
| Unreserved (male) | 37 years |
| Unreserved (female) | 40 years |
| BC and EBC (male and female) | 40 years |
| SC and ST (male and female) | 42 years |
Members of the Bihar State Health Service cadre get 5 more years in each category. Candidates with disabilities get 10 more years. You can use only one relaxation, either the disability one or another one, not both.
BCECEB reservation needs Bihar domicile and a current-year NCL certificate
Reservation follows Bihar government rules as they stood on the day the online form opened. Only original residents of Bihar get reserved seats. Applicants who are not original residents of Bihar get no reservation benefit.
- BC, EBC, SC and ST candidates need a caste certificate with non-creamy layer for the current financial year. Without it, you count as unreserved. The prospectus says the same applies if you do not show it at counselling.
- EWS candidates need an EWS certificate of the current financial year.
- The category you claim in the form cannot be changed later. A wrong claim puts you in the unreserved category.
BCECEB merit points: MBBS marks, MD and Bihar service years
The prospectus (pages 4 and 5) gives the points below. Added together, the six heads give at most 46 points. That total is our sum; the prospectus prints no total.
| Head | Points |
|---|---|
| MBBS marks, total of the three university exams | Above 70%: 5; above 65%: 4; above 60%: 3; above 55%: 2; above 50%: 1 |
| Marks in the speciality subject | Same scale: 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 |
| MD or MS in the speciality | 10 |
| PhD, DM or MCh in the same speciality | 10 |
| Work in Bihar government or semi-government service | 2 per completed year, up to 10 |
| Interview | 6 for every candidate |
The Health Department has stopped interviews for its cadre posts, and the prospectus gives every candidate the same 6 interview points. You still attend counselling, where your original documents are checked.
You need at least 16 points to be appointed. Some other rules change your score:
- If you failed an MBBS exam, your marks for that exam are the average of the failed and passed attempts. The same applies to the speciality subject.
- Grace marks are not counted.
- A DM or MCh done straight after MBBS gets 20 points, 10 for PG and 10 for the super speciality.
- Only regular or contractual government work counts as experience. Fellowships, courses and training do not. Work in any government or non-private medical institution in Bihar counts, including ones run by the central government, a panchayat or a city body.
- A repeat of the same degree from another university earns nothing extra. MRCP, FRCS and similar degrees obtained on or after 11 November 1978 earn no points.
- If a subject has only one or two vacancies, the top-scoring Bihar Health Service or PG candidate gets priority.
Here is our own example, not one from BCECEB. Take a doctor with 66% in MBBS (4 points), 62% in the speciality (3 points) and an MD (10 points). With no government service, the total is 4 + 3 + 10 + 0 + 6 = 23 points.
Level 9 in the advertisement, Rs 1,15,000 honorarium in the prospectus
The two documents do not describe the pay the same way:
- The advertisement (page 1, item 6(iii)) says medical teachers appointed to the tenure posts get pay Level 9. Doctors already in the Bihar Health Service keep their current pay, with dearness allowance (DA) and other allowances.
- The prospectus (page 3) says doctors appointed to the tenure posts get an honorarium (fixed amount) of Rs 1,15,000. It does not print whether this is per month. It also says Bihar Health Service doctors keep their current pay with DA and allowances.
Neither file says which rule wins. If pay matters to your decision, ask the BCECEB helpdesk (helpdesk.bceceboard@bihar.gov.in or 0612-2220230) before you join. We have not estimated a take-home figure.
Who cannot take a second three-year SR tenure under BCECEB
- A doctor who has already finished a three-year SR or Tutor tenure in a subject cannot apply again in that subject. This is in advertisement item 6(iv) and prospectus page 5, item ix. Item ix adds that the same doctor may apply in a different subject, and earlier SR work in a Bihar government or semi-government college then earns experience points.
- Item vii on the same page is worded more widely. It says doctors who have finished a three-year SR or Tutor tenure cannot apply for the current SR or Tutor posts, without naming the subject. If you did an SR tenure in another subject, confirm with the BCECEB helpdesk before you apply.
- Every candidate gives an affidavit that they have not worked a three-year SR or Tutor term in the applied subject at an NMC or MCI recognised college. Without it, the candidature is cancelled.
- Doctors facing departmental action or a criminal case, or who are suspended or on long leave, are not considered.
- PG pass-outs under a three-year bond who were not posted as SR can apply, under Health Department order 91(17) of 27 January 2023. They need a departmental No Objection Certificate (NOC), and the SR term counts towards the bond.
Registering on the BCECEB SR portal and paying Rs 2,250
The fee is Rs 2,250 for every category, including SC, ST and persons with disabilities. You pay it online by card, net banking or UPI, and a processing charge is added. The fee is not refunded. If money leaves your account but the payment fails, pay the full fee again. The failed amount comes back to your account later.
- On the BCECEB website, open “Online Portal of Senior Resident / Tutor under Health Dept.” and then “Apply for Senior Resident / Tutor”. The link leads to the SR/Tutor 2026 application portal.
- Click New Registration. Use your own or your parent’s e-mail and mobile number. Both are verified by code and cannot be changed later.
- Sign in, choose the department (subject), then fill in personal, contact and education details.
- Upload a clear colour photo and your signature as the portal instructs.
- Check the preview, then click “Final Submit & Proceed to Payment” and pay by 23 November 2026, 11:59 PM.
- Download the confirmation page and fee receipt. If you find a mistake, use the editing window, which runs until 24 November 2026, 11:59 PM. Only those who submitted and paid on time can edit.
You do not post a paper form, but carry its print to counselling. The document verification schedule will be announced later. No travel allowance is paid for counselling, and the Health Department decides your posting.
Documents BCECEB checks at counselling, including failure mark sheets
Bring originals and one photocopy of each:
- Matriculation certificate or mark sheet (for date of birth);
- MBBS mark sheets for Parts I, II and III, MBBS passing certificate and attempt certificate;
- Speciality mark sheet and passing certificate, and any PhD, DM, MCh or M.Sc certificate;
- Medical registration certificate;
- Experience certificate, if any, and an NOC from your employer if you are in service;
- Non-creamy layer caste certificate and residential certificate from your Bihar home district, or an EWS certificate;
- Disability certificate from a medical board, or a freedom fighter grandchild certificate, if claimed;
- Four photos like the one used online, two copies of the verification slip, and the confirmation page print;
- From the prospectus list on page 2: a character certificate from the principal of your last institution, and an income certificate if asked at counselling;
- The affidavit that you have not held a three-year SR or Tutor term in the subject.
- The page 2 list (item 7) also names a Bihar permanent residence certificate. It does not say what applicants from outside Bihar should bring instead, so ask the helpdesk if this applies to you.
The prospectus also asks every candidate to produce their failure mark sheets. Without them, your candidature is treated as not eligible.
