CSL CANSRU Apprentice 2026 Vacancy: 1 Graduate and 5 Diploma Seats for Andaman Domiciles

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has notified six one-year apprentice seats at its Andaman and Nicobar ship repair unit in Sri Vijaya Puram. This is CSL CANSRU Apprentice 2026, under notification No. CSL/P&A/RECTT/CANSRU TRAINEES/APPR/NATS/2026/2 of 14 October 2026. CANSRU stands for CSL AN Ship Repair Unit. Online registration on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal runs from 14 October to 30 October 2026. One seat is for an engineering graduate and five are for engineering diploma holders. Only domiciles (permanent residents) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are considered. There is no application fee.

ECE, Mechanical and Electrical: how CSL CANSRU Apprentice 2026 splits its six seats

ECE means Electronics and Communication Engineering. The training lasts one year under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973. A stipend is the fixed monthly amount paid to an apprentice during training.

The diploma table on page 1 totals 5 seats, and the graduate table has 1, so there are 6 seats in all. CSL says the number of seats may change with its future needs. It also keeps the right not to fill the seats.

The notice says Government of India rules on reservation for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities) will be followed. It does not print which seat goes to which category.

Only Andaman and Nicobar domiciles: the first filter at CANSRU

The notice repeats this rule three times. Applicants must be Indian citizens domiciled in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. At the selection stage, the notice says “only candidates who are domicile of Andaman & Nicobar Islands shall be considered”. If you are not domiciled in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, these seats are not open to you.

A former apprentice cannot apply for the Sri Vijaya Puram seats

Section VIII bars two groups. One is anyone who has already done an apprenticeship under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973. The other is anyone doing one now. This applies whether the training was in a government, public sector or private organisation.

ECE degree or a same-branch diploma, and no upper age limit in the CANSRU notice

For the graduate seat, you need a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or Technology. It can be from a statutory university, or from an institution allowed by an Act of Parliament to give degrees. The graduate exam of a professional body recognised as equal by the State or Central Government also counts.

For the diploma seats, you need a diploma in the same branch as the seat. It can be from a State Council or Board of Technical Education, from a university, or from an institution recognised as equal by the State or Central Government.

• If your qualification is an “equivalent” one, you must have an Equivalency Certificate from the competent authority. Without it, your form is not considered.
• The notice itself prints no minimum percentage and no year-of-passing limit.
• On age, it says only “Above 18 years old as on 30.10.2026”. No upper age limit is printed.
• Physical standards follow Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992.

How CANSRU ranks applicants: marks in your degree or diploma

The notice lists no written test and no interview. Shortlisting is based on the percentage of marks in the basic qualification for your discipline. If two candidates have the same percentage, the tie is settled by “seniority in passing year”.

For the graduate seat, the notice also covers CGPA. If your university has its own rule to convert CGPA into a percentage, CSL uses that rule. If it has none, the CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is multiplied by 10, so a CGPA of 7.2 would count as 72%. The notice prints this rule only for the graduate seat.

Shortlisted candidates are called for certificate verification. After that, they are provisionally considered for the seats in order of merit and reservation, subject to medical fitness.

Clause XIV(x): one wrong percentage on the NATS portal ends your CANSRU application

Clause XIV(x) is strict. If the marks you enter differ from the mark sheet you upload, the application is “summarily rejected”. Copy your percentage exactly as the mark sheet shows it.

Applying for the CANSRU seats through nats.education.gov.in

You apply on the NATS portal, nats.education.gov.in. The steps depend on whether you were registered on the old portal, portal.mhrdnats.gov.in.

If you were registered on the old portal:

1. Activate your account on nats.education.gov.in. Use the “forgot password” option on the student login page.
2. Log in and complete the application form. Check that every detail is correct.
3. Search for “COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED” under “Apply against advertised vacancies”.
4. Click Apply. The status should show “applied”.

If you were never registered:

1. Go to nats.education.gov.in, click Student, then Student Register.
2. Complete the form. The portal gives you a unique Enrolment Number.
3. Log in, search for “COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED” under “Apply against advertised vacancies”, and click Apply.

The last date is 30 October 2026. The notice does not print a closing hour. For portal problems it names the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT), Eastern Region, Kolkata. For questions on the notice, CSL gives career.cansru@cochinshipyard.in.

Rs 13,000 or Rs 15,000 at CANSRU, with no travel or housing

The stipend is Rs 15,000 a month for the graduate seat and Rs 13,000 for each diploma seat. Section X says no travel expenses are paid during training. Section XI says CSL does not give boarding or lodging. Plan your stay in Sri Vijaya Puram yourself.

After the year ends, CSL has no duty to offer you a job, and you cannot claim one on that basis.

Two more lines in the notice matter for island applicants. Any court case about this notice can be filed only in courts, tribunals or forums at Ernakulam. And canvassing (seeking favours or pressure on your behalf) in any form leads to disqualification.

Certificate check for the CANSRU shortlist comes by e-mail

CSL will not send call letters by post. Shortlisted candidates are told by e-mail or on the CSL website, under Career Page and then CANSRU. All contact is through the e-mail ID you registered, so use one you check often.

At the certificate check, bring the originals of your proof of age, qualification, percentage of marks, caste and disability (if any). Bring a self-attested copy of each too. If you cannot show an original, your candidature is rejected.
