IIIT Dharwad Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026: 11 JE, PTI, Assistant and Technician Posts
On this page
Graduates, diploma holders and ITI holders with experience can apply for 11 regular posts in IIIT Dharwad Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026 at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad, Karnataka. The posts come under Advertisement No. IIITDWD/REC/NT/2026/1129 of 5 October 2026 and its addendum of 21 October 2026. They are Junior Engineer (2), Physical Training Instructor (1), Junior Assistant (3) and Junior Technician (5). Forms are accepted from 7 October 2026 until 11:55 PM on 9 November 2026. Junior Assistant needs any bachelor’s degree. Junior Technician takes an engineering degree, a diploma, or an ITI with 2 years of experience.
Two Group B and two Group C posts in IIIT Dharwad Non-Teaching Recruitment 2026
IIIT Dharwad is an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. All 11 posts are regular posts filled by direct recruitment. The advertisement gives each post a pay level, which is the step of the pay matrix that sets basic pay. It does not print the pay amounts.
| Post | Group | Pay level | Posts | Category split | Upper age |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Junior Engineer (one Civil, one Electrical) | B | 6 | 2 | UR 1, OBC (NCL) 1 | 32 years |
| Physical Training Instructor | B | 6 | 1 | UR 1 | 32 years |
| Junior Assistant | C | 3 | 3 | UR 2, EWS 1 | 27 years |
| Junior Technician | C | 3 | 5 | OBC (NCL) 3, SC 2 | 27 years |
| Total | 11 | UR 4, OBC (NCL) 4, SC 2, EWS 1 |
The Junior Assistant row follows the addendum of 21 October 2026. The original advertisement had 2 Junior Assistant posts (UR 1, EWS 1). The addendum revises this to 3 (UR 2, EWS 1). It says all other terms of the advertisement stay unchanged and the last date stays 9 November 2026.
UR means Unreserved. OBC (NCL) means Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer). SC means Scheduled Castes, and EWS means Economically Weaker Sections.
In the Junior Technician row, all five posts are reserved: three for OBC (NCL) and two for SC. The table shows no Unreserved Junior Technician post. The notice also says the number and nature of posts may change during selection.
Junior Technician takes an ITI only with 2 years’ experience; the other posts need a degree or diploma
Every condition is checked as on 9 November 2026, the closing date. Your date of birth is taken only from your Class 10 (SSLC) certificate or your birth certificate.
- Junior Engineer: a Civil or Electrical Engineering degree with 2 years’ experience. A diploma in the same branches also works, with 5 years’ experience. The notice lists as desirable: refrigeration and air conditioning, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) work, and maintenance of a campus of 1,500 or more people. Building Information Modelling, AutoCAD, and construction and project management software are also desirable.
- Physical Training Instructor: a graduate with a BPEd (Bachelor of Physical Education) and 3 years of experience. Preference goes to holders of an NIS (National Institute of Sports) diploma and to medal winners in inter-university or national games. Student welfare work in a government or higher education institution, and a specialisation in a sport, are also desirable.
- Junior Assistant: a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute, plus knowledge of computers and office software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. No experience is asked for.
- Junior Technician: an engineering degree in Computer Science, Electronics or Electrical, or a diploma in one of these. An ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in Computer Science, Electronics or Electrical also works, but only with 2 years of experience.
If your marks are in CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average, a grade score instead of marks), attach your university’s certificate showing the equivalent percentage. Without a conversion formula from your institute, CGPA on a 10-point scale is multiplied by 10. If your qualification is not exactly the one in the recruitment rules, you need an equivalency certificate from your board or university.
No upper age for regular IIIT Dharwad staff; 27 or 32 for everyone else
The upper age on 9 November 2026 is 27 for Junior Assistant and Junior Technician. It is 32 for Junior Engineer and Physical Training Instructor. The notice gives no lower age.
- Age relaxation for SC, ST (Scheduled Tribes), OBC (NCL), EWS, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen follows Central Government rules. The advertisement gives no figure for these extra years.
- Regular IIIT Dharwad employees have no upper age limit. On the closing date, they must have at least one year of service left before retirement.
- Some people work at IIIT Dharwad on an ad hoc, temporary, contract or outsourced basis, engaged directly by the Institute. In Group B and C posts they may get age relaxation “for a maximum of 50 years”, in the notice’s words. They need at least five years of continuous clean service.
OBC, EWS, NOC and VCC papers issued before 1 April 2026 will not be accepted
Some certificates must be fresh. The notice accepts OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates only if they were issued on or after 1 April 2026. If you work for a government body, autonomous body or PSU now, you also need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and a Vigilance Clearance Certificate (VCC) from that employer. Both must be dated on or after 1 April 2026.
- OBC: the certificate must show you are in the non-creamy layer. Your caste must also be in the Central List of OBCs for your state. Use the central format in Annexure II (B).
- SC and ST: a certificate from a revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar, or a First-Class Magistrate, in Annexure II (A).
- EWS: the income and asset certificate in Annexure II (C).
- Persons with disabilities: a certificate in the prescribed format, in Annexure II (D). It is rejected if the disability is below 40%.
- Ex-servicemen: the certificate in Annexure II (E).
- Experience: a certificate from the head of the organisation in the format of Annexure II (F).
- Staff of a government body, autonomous body or PSU (public sector undertaking): upload the NOC (Annexure II (G)) and VCC (Annexure II (H)) with the form. If you cannot, bring them to document verification. No disciplinary or vigilance case should be pending against you.
Fee: para 33 says none, para 35 asks for a fee receipt
The advertisement contradicts itself on the fee. Para 33, on page 5, says: “No application fee shall be charged.” Para 35, on page 6, lists the documents to bring to the selection. That list asks for “receipt/ proof of online application processing fee deposited”. No fee amount is printed anywhere in the 7 pages. The addendum of 21 October 2026 changes only the Junior Assistant vacancies and keeps all other terms, so it does not settle this. The Samarth application portal could not be opened for this page, so what the form itself asks for is not confirmed here.
Confirm the fee with the Institute before you apply. The advertisement asks for clarifications by e-mail to recruitment.nt@iiitdwd.ac.in. The phone numbers printed on its letterhead are 0836-2250879 and 9449732959. If the portal does ask for a fee, keep the receipt, because para 35 asks for proof of it at the selection.
IIIT Dharwad selection: interview, with a possible written or skill test
Para 20 says selection among shortlisted candidates will be based on the interview. The Institute may also hold an objective test, a skill test or a presentation before the interview to shortlist further. Para 22 says all eligible candidates must appear for a written test and/or interview. The notice gives no marks, syllabus or test dates.
Call letters come by e-mail and can also be downloaded from the recruitment portal. The list of candidates called will be put on the Institute website. No letter is sent by post. Plan to stay at least two days in Dharwad for the selection process. The Institute does not pay travel allowance for it.
At the selection, bring your call letter, the printout of your online form, all original certificates and one set of photocopies. The list in para 35 includes:
- Class 10 certificate showing your date of birth
- Class 12 certificate and marks sheet
- Degree, diploma or ITI certificate with marks sheets for every year
- Category, disability or ex-serviceman certificates, if they apply
- Experience certificates and other proof of past work
- NOC and VCC, if you are a government or PSU employee
- An original photo ID such as Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID
Joining depends on a medical exam and a check of your character and antecedents. Your category certificate is also verified. You must join within the time the Institute sets, or the appointment is cancelled.
No pay figures in the advertisement: only Levels 3 and 6, DA, HRA and NPS
Junior Assistant and Junior Technician are at Pay Level 3. Junior Engineer and Physical Training Instructor are at Pay Level 6. Allowances follow Central Government or Institute rules. They include Dearness Allowance (DA, a cost-of-living addition) and House Rent Allowance (HRA). Staff and their dependents get medical benefits under Institute norms.
New direct recruits come under the National Pension Scheme (NPS), as the notice calls it. Those already under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 (Central Civil Services) when they join are the exception. The notice prints no pay amount, so this page gives no salary or take-home figure.
A separate online form for each Dharwad post, and nothing to send by post
- Open the IIIT Dharwad careers page and choose “Recruitment Advertisement for Non-Teaching Positions- 2026”. Click Apply.
- Register with a personal e-mail ID and mobile number that will stay active. Your registration number, password and call letter come to that e-mail ID.
- Fill a separate application for each post you want. One form does not cover two posts.
- Upload the documents the form asks for, including the NOC and VCC if you are a government or PSU employee.
- Check everything before you submit. The notice says no request to change data or add a missing document will be taken after submission.
- Print the submitted form and keep it for the selection.
You do not need to post a hard copy. Para 38 says the hard copy of the online form need not be sent by post. Questions go to recruitment.nt@iiitdwd.ac.in. Any correction notice will appear only on www.iiitdwd.ac.in.
The careers page may show the closing time as 06:25 PM. The page stores that time in UTC (world standard time), and 18:25 UTC is 11:55 PM in India. So it is the same deadline as the advertisement.
