The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) runs bank exams, and these jobs are on its own payroll in Mumbai. IBPS Staff Recruitment 2026 comes under Advertisement No. IBPS/2026-27/06 of 29 October 2026. There are three regular posts: Server Administrator (Grade D), Assistant (Grade B) and Programming Assistant (Grade B). The online form runs from 29 October to 12 November 2026. Every post needs a degree and at least two years of work experience after it. Server Administrator needs three years. IBPS has not printed the number of vacancies.

IBPS paper behind this page: the 21-page Advertisement No. IBPS/2026-27/06, signed on 29.10.2026 by the Division Head (Administration), IBPS Mumbai. Page numbers in brackets below refer to this PDF. The form opens from the IBPS website. On 30 October 2026 the IBPS home page and careers page listed only this advertisement and its apply link, with no corrigendum, addendum or date extension for IBPS/2026-27/06.

IBPS Staff Recruitment 2026: three Mumbai posts, two pay grades

All three posts are filled by direct recruitment on a regular basis (page 1). The place of posting is IBPS, Mumbai. IBPS will appoint against its “existing vacancies” and keep a wait list valid for six months. It does not say how many people it will take for any post.

Post Grade Age on 1 October 2026 Degree Experience after the degree
Server Administrator D 25 to 33 B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science or IT, or equivalent 3 years, with Linux server and network work
Assistant B 23 to 30 Any bachelor’s degree with at least 60% aggregate 2 years in data, MIS (management information system) or clerical work
Programming Assistant B 23 to 30 Full-time B.Sc. IT, BCA or B.Sc. Computer Science, or equivalent; or an engineering degree in Computer Science or IT 2 years in Unix or Linux work

You can apply for more than one post. Each post needs its own form and its own fee (page 11). An application made for one post cannot be moved to another.

Born 2 October 1993 to 1 October 2003, by IBPS post

IBPS counts age on 1 October 2026 and prints the exact birth dates it accepts (pages 2 to 4). Both end dates are included.

  • Server Administrator: born from 2 October 1993 to 1 October 2001.
  • Assistant and Programming Assistant: born from 2 October 1996 to 1 October 2003.

The advertisement has no age relaxation clause for any category. It also has no category-wise seat table. IBPS takes the birth date from your Class 10 (matriculation) certificate or an equivalent certificate, and will not change it later (page 4).

Excel skills IBPS lists for the Assistant post

Any stream can apply for the Assistant post. The degree must have at least 60% aggregate. IBPS lists some subjects as “preferably”: Science, Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Applications, IT, Data Analytics, Business Administration or Management (page 3).

The degree alone is not enough. IBPS asks for “demonstrable proficiency” in MS Excel, and names the skills:

  • formulas such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, IF and nested formulas;
  • pivot tables and pivot charts;
  • data validation, data cleaning and conditional formatting;
  • basic automation with Power Query or macros (preferred).

You also need two years of work after your degree in roles such as data checking, reconciliation, MIS reports, large data sets or clerical record work. Experience in a bank, an exam body, a government office or a large company MIS team is preferred. IBPS says it will shortlist Assistants on higher qualification, relevant experience and shown Excel skill. The job itself involves checking exam results before they are published and keeping candidate data confidential (page 6).

Linux, L3 switch and FORTRAN: the IBPS technical posts

Server Administrator. Hands-on Linux server administration (RHEL or similar) is essential. So is at least basic experience of network management on an L3 switch (page 2). A certificate from a recognised body in these areas gets extra weight. Skills such as VMware or Nutanix, firewalls, Active Directory, MS SQL or MySQL and SAN storage help but are not required. The job covers servers, network, backups and MS Exchange e-mail. Page 6 describes it as system administration, not software development or only health monitoring.

Programming Assistant. The two years of experience should cover applications in Unix or Linux, file handling, data entry and data transfer. You also need basic programming in any language and good MS Excel (page 4). A programming certificate course, or FORTRAN or Python experience, is an added advantage. The daily work includes editing files with the vi editor, running programs on data files and turning the output into Excel reports.

Distance degrees, old applicants and other IBPS staff exclusions

  • No rounding up. IBPS works out your percentage from all subjects in all years or semesters. It ignores the fraction, so 59.99% is treated as less than 60% (page 5).
  • Grades must be converted. If your university gives a CGPA, enter it as a percentage. At the selection stage you need a university certificate showing its conversion rule.
  • No distance degrees. Degrees by correspondence, distance education or open university are not accepted (page 4).
  • Experience after the degree only. Work done before you finished the required degree does not count (page 8).
  • Result by 12 November 2026. The eligibility note on page 5 says the degree result must be declared on or before the last date of the online form. The document list on page 8 words it as “before the date of Selection process”.
  • One try only. If you took part in an earlier round of selection for any of these posts, you cannot apply again (page 17). Current IBPS staff, regular or contract, cannot apply either (page 16).
  • Clean service record. Anyone dismissed or removed from IBPS, a government department, a local authority, a PSU or an autonomous corporation is not eligible. Neither is a former IBPS employee who resigned, or anyone convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude (page 16). Page 5 adds three more conditions. Your integrity should not have been in doubt during your service or career. You should have had no punishment or penalty during your service or career. No CBI or other law enforcement case should be pending against you.
  • Government employees need an NOC. Staff of government offices, public sector undertakings (PSUs), nationalised banks and financial institutions must bring an original No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer (page 8).

The Institute keeps the right to relax the qualification and experience rules for a “deserving and suitable candidate”. It can also raise them to cut the number called (page 4).

Rs 35,400 and Rs 25,500 basic pay at IBPS Mumbai

IBPS prints its own pay figures “as on October 2026” (page 7). It does not give a pay scale range or a DA (dearness allowance) rate, so we have not worked out a take-home figure.

Post Basic pay a month Total emolument a month at the start (approx.) Yearly CTC (approx.)
Server Administrator (D) Rs 35,400 Rs 73,020 Rs 14.09 lakh
Assistant (B) Rs 25,500 Rs 54,210 Rs 10.57 lakh
Programming Assistant (B) Rs 25,500 Rs 54,210 Rs 10.57 lakh

“Total emolument” is IBPS’s approximate monthly figure at the start of the scale. CTC stands for cost to company, a yearly figure. Page 7 lists benefits inside the CTC, such as the employer’s provident fund (PF) share, medical benefits, mediclaim, canteen subsidy, gratuity and superannuation (a retirement fund). It also counts a performance-linked incentive, linked to criteria the Institute sets. Loans, leave travel concession (LTC) and children’s education subsidy follow the Institute’s own rules.

Two years in Mumbai at your own cost, or Rs 1 lakh

  • Bond: at joining you sign a service bond of Rs 1 lakh. If you leave before two years of service, you pay IBPS Rs 1 lakh. The two years may be extended by your loss-of-pay days (page 7).
  • Housing: posting is in Mumbai only, and IBPS gives no housing or accommodation help (pages 4 and 17). It gives “primary preference” to people already living in Mumbai. It still welcomes outsiders who will move to Mumbai for good.
  • Probation: the first year is probation. A medical fitness certificate and police verification are needed at joining (page 1).

IBPS also says the posts need “full 24×7 commitment” to the Institute (page 17).

Exam, documents and interview on one day at IBPS House, Kandivali

IBPS first checks applications against the minimum criteria and decides how many people to call (page 7). If many people apply, it can raise the bar using extra qualifications and experience. Those called come to IBPS House, Kandivali (East), Mumbai, at their own cost. On that day there is document verification, an online exam and a personal interview. IBPS says it will try to finish everything the same day, but it may run into the next day. The tentative schedule on page 1 gives “November 2026” for this stage, with no exact date. Anyone who arrives after the reporting time on the call letter, or without the required documents, is not allowed to take part (page 7). Ration cards and learner’s driving licences are not accepted as photo ID (page 8).

The online exam is in English and has 100 questions of one mark each, with 90 minutes for the whole paper (page 10).

Post Sections and marks
Server Administrator Aptitude 30, Professional Knowledge 70
Assistant General Awareness 20, English 20, Reasoning 20, Numerical Ability 20, Computer Knowledge 20
Programming Assistant Aptitude 50, Professional Knowledge 50

The notice adds that this structure may change. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 of the marks for that question. A blank answer costs nothing (page 11). For example, 60 right and 12 wrong answers give 60 minus 3, or 57 marks. You need a minimum score in each test and “sufficiently high scores” to reach the interview. Those who clear the exam are interviewed the same day or the next day. A committee makes the final selection, and IBPS informs selected people later by e-mail or letter.

Rs 250 a post, a webcam photo and a handwritten declaration

The fee is Rs 250 per application, paid online from 29 October to 12 November 2026 (page 11). The advertisement shows no fee concession for any category, and you pay bank charges yourself. Applying for two posts means two forms and two fees. If you apply twice for the same post, only the latest complete form counts and the other fee is lost (page 11).

The form asks for these uploads (pages 12 and 18 to 20):

  • photo, 20 to 50 KB, colour, light background, about 200 x 230 pixels, plus a live photo taken by webcam or phone;
  • signature in black ink, 10 to 20 KB, not in capital letters;
  • left thumb impression in black or blue ink, 20 to 50 KB;
  • a hand-written declaration in English, 50 to 100 KB, not in capital letters;
  • a short resume in PDF;
  • your Class 10 (SSC) certificate;
  • proof of age, qualification and experience, each a PDF on A4 pages of up to 500 KB.

The declaration text is printed in the advertisement. It reads: “I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.” Copy it in your own handwriting. A form without these uploads is not valid (page 14). If the registration e-mail and SMS do not reach you, IBPS says you may take it that the form was not registered. Nothing can be changed after you click “Complete Registration”, and an application cannot be withdrawn.

No vacancy count and no exam date in IBPS/2026-27/06

  • The number of posts for each of the three jobs.
  • Any reservation, category seats or age relaxation.
  • The exact date of the exam and interview, beyond a tentative “November 2026”.
  • A closing time on 12 November 2026.
  • The full pay scale, yearly increments and DA rate.

Any addendum or corrigendum will appear only on www.ibps.in (page 17).

Graduate posts like IBPS Assistant that ask for office experience

For other bank and IBPS openings, see our banking jobs page. More Mumbai openings are on the Maharashtra government jobs page, and more degree-level posts are on jobs for graduates. The Delhi University Senior Assistant and Assistant posts also ask graduates for two or three years of office experience. Computer graduates can compare the Supreme Court Court Assistant (Programmer) posts. In September 2026, IBPS also advertised Banker Faculty posts on contract for its Mumbai office.

What to have ready for the IBPS Mumbai staff form

  1. Check your birth date against the window for your post, and your degree percentage without rounding.
  2. Collect experience letters that show your duties and dates after your degree. Bring an NOC if you work for the government, a PSU or a public sector bank.
  3. Make a short PDF resume that names your Excel, Linux or network work, then apply on the IBPS website by 12 November 2026.
