SBI Security Officer Recruitment 2026 is for former and serving officers of the armed forces and paramilitary forces. State Bank of India wants 60 officers for two grades: Manager (Security) and Deputy Manager (Security). The online form runs from 4 November to 25 November 2026, and the fee must also be paid within these dates. You need a degree in any subject, officer service of 5 or 10 years, and SHAPE-1 medical fitness (the category shown in your discharge book or service record). The age limit is 25 to 40 years on 31 October 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories. These are regular posts, and SBI can post you anywhere in India.

Advertisement 28, read in full: sixteen pages from SBI’s Central Recruitment & Promotion Department, Mumbai, dated 04.11.2026 over the General Manager (RP & PM). Open the CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28 PDF to match the page references in brackets. SBI places the form link on its current openings page. On 5 November 2026 that page listed advertisement 28 with the dates 04.11.2026 to 25.11.2026 and showed no corrigendum or date extension for it.

SBI Security Officer Recruitment 2026: 60 posts across MMGS-II and MMGS-III

MMGS means Middle Management Grade Scale. MMGS-II is the Deputy Manager grade, and MMGS-III is the Manager grade. SBI gives one combined count for both grades. It does not say how many of the 60 posts are for Manager and how many are for Deputy Manager (page 2). UR means unreserved, OBC is Other Backward Classes, SC and ST are Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and EWS is Economically Weaker Sections.

Category Posts
Unreserved (UR) 25
OBC (non-creamy layer) 16
SC 9
EWS 6
ST 4
Total 60

SBI calls these numbers provisional, so they may change with the bank’s needs (page 3). It prints no separate count for persons with disabilities.

Captain with 5 years or Major with 10: the SBI security service cut-offs

Both grades need a graduate degree in any subject from a government-recognised university or institution. You must hold the degree on 31 October 2026. Your rank and your years of service as an officer are counted up to the same date (page 2).

Grade Armed forces route Paramilitary route
Manager (Security), MMGS-III Not below Major in the Army, or the same rank in the Navy or Air Force, with at least 10 years of commissioned service Not below Deputy Commandant, with at least 10 years of service as an officer in that force
Deputy Manager (Security), MMGS-II Not below Captain in the Army, or the same rank in the Navy or Air Force, with at least 5 years of commissioned service Not below Assistant Commandant, with at least 5 years of service as an officer in that force

The notice also sets these rules on experience and certificates:

  • The experience must be full-time and complete on the cut-off date (pages 3 and 5).
  • Your experience certificate must say clearly that you have experience in the related field. Without a proper certificate, SBI can cancel your candidature at any stage (page 3).
  • Serving certificates must be signed by your commanding officer or officer commanding, or you can use your discharge book (page 6). At joining, you must produce a proper discharge book from your employer (page 10).

Bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer to the interview if you work in a government office, a public sector unit or a bank. Without it, SBI may not consider you or pay your travel cost (page 10).

Age 25 to 40 on 31 October 2026 and the SHAPE-1 medical rule

The age limit is a minimum of 25 years and a maximum of 40 years, counted on 31 October 2026 (page 2). The maximum of 40 is for unreserved candidates. Reserved categories get relaxation in the upper age limit “as per Govt. of India guidelines” (page 3). The notice does not print a table of relaxation years, and it gives no separate figure for ex-servicemen. You cannot add two relaxations together. Applicants claiming a relaxation need the certificate at the interview.

The medical rule is strict and comes first. Only applicants in SHAPE-1, or an equivalent medical category, on the date this advertisement was released can apply (page 3). You must write your medical category as it appears in your discharge book or service record. You must also upload proof. Retired officers upload the relevant page of the discharge book. Serving officers upload their latest Medical Board document (pages 2, 3 and 6).

Only the 100 Professional Knowledge marks reach the SBI merit list

Selection has two stages: an online test and an interview (page 4). The online test has 200 questions in two hours. There is no penalty for wrong answers.

Section Questions Marks Time Counts for merit?
Reasoning Ability 50 25 30 minutes No, qualifying only
English Language 50 50 30 minutes No, qualifying only
General Awareness 50 25 25 minutes No, qualifying only
Professional Knowledge 50 100 35 minutes Yes
Total 200 200 Two hours

You must clear a minimum mark in Reasoning, English and General Awareness, and the Bank will decide that minimum. Those marks then drop out. Only the Professional Knowledge (PK) score goes forward. The 50 PK questions carry 100 marks, as many as the other three sections put together.

The interview carries 100 marks, and SBI will also set its qualifying mark. For the final list, SBI scales both scores to a total of 100 (page 5):

  • PK test: 100 marks become 70.
  • Interview: 100 marks become 30.

So one PK mark is worth 0.7 of a final point, and one interview mark is worth 0.3. A candidate who scores 60 in PK and 70 in the interview ends with 42 + 21 = 63 out of 100. The merit list is drawn category-wise. If two or more candidates tie at the cut-off, the older candidate ranks higher. SBI also keeps the right to change the selection method, for example to shortlisting and interview (page 5).

What the PK syllabus asks of an SBI security officer

Annexure I (pages 11 to 14) lists 15 areas. Much of it matches unit-level security work, but some parts are banking-specific:

  • Security basics, security management, risk assessment and the risk matrix.
  • Security hardware: access control, X-ray baggage scanners, doorframe and hand-held metal detectors, under-vehicle scanners, alarms, communication sets and bullet-proof glass. It also covers guard forces and basic knowledge of small arms.
  • Fire safety: the fire triangle, types of extinguishers, response plans, and the statutory, IS and NBC standards and guidelines for fire safety.
  • CCTV systems, storage and retrieval of footage, and their legal side.
  • Manpower management, executive protection, and disaster management with business continuity.
  • Information security and the physical side of IT security.
  • Bank security: custody of cash and gold, vaults and locker rooms, cash in transit, ATMs, and threats such as burglary and dacoity (robbery by an armed gang).
  • Liaison with police, army, fire services and civil offices, and general office administration.

MMGS-II and MMGS-III pay scales for SBI security officers

The notice gives these pay scales (page 4):

Post Grade Pay scale (Rs)
Deputy Manager (Security) MMGS-II 64820-2340/1-67160-2680/10-93960
Manager (Security) MMGS-III 85920-2680/5-99320-2980/2-105820

Read the scale from left to right. The first figure is the starting basic pay. Each “increment/number” pair shows the size of a raise (increment) and how many times it applies. For example, the Deputy Manager scale starts at Rs 64,820. It rises by Rs 2,340 once to Rs 67,160. It then rises by Rs 2,680 ten times to reach Rs 93,960.

The Manager scale does not add up as printed. It starts at Rs 85,920 and rises by Rs 2,680 five times to Rs 99,320, which matches. Two more raises of Rs 2,980 give Rs 1,05,280, but the last figure is printed as 105820. Use the post-your-query link on the SBI careers page if the top of the scale matters to you.

On top of basic pay, SBI pays DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance) and CCA (City Compensatory Allowance) under its own rules. You also get Provident Fund, the National Pension System (NPS), Leave Fare Concession, medical facility and other perks. The notice gives no amounts for these. So this page shows basic pay only and does not estimate in-hand salary. Probation is 6 months, and the career path is the one that applies to SBI’s existing cadre of security officers.

Rs 750 fee and the uploads advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28 asks for

The application fee and intimation charges come to Rs 750 for UR, EWS and OBC candidates. SC and ST candidates pay nothing (page 6). The notice prints no fee rule for persons with disabilities. You pay online through the payment gateway, for example by internet banking or UPI. The fee is not refundable. Your registration is complete only when the fee is paid by 25 November 2026.

Prepare these files before you start (pages 6 and 7):

  • Photo: recent colour passport-style photo, light or white background, 20 to 50 kb, 200 x 230 pixels preferred. No cap, hat or dark glasses. You also capture a live photo by webcam or by scanning a QR code with your phone.
  • Signature: black ink on white paper, 10 to 20 kb, 140 x 60 pixels preferred, not in capital letters.
  • Left-hand thumb impression in jpg. Use the right thumb only if you have no left thumb.
  • Hand-written declaration: in English, black ink on white paper, not in capital letters. It must be a jpg of 800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI scan quality (10 cm x 5 cm), 50 to 100 kb. The text to copy is printed on page 6.
  • Identity PDFs (A4, at most 500 kb each): a short resume, ID proof, proof of date of birth, and a caste certificate if you claim SC, ST or OBC.
  • Service PDFs: your experience certificate, your medical document, and Form-16 (tax statement), an offer letter or your latest salary slip.
  • Education PDFs: mark sheets and degree. Add an NOC if it applies to you.

OBC candidates need a non-creamy layer certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and the interview date. EWS candidates need an Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2025-26. If you do not have the right certificate, apply as UR, because SBI will not change your category later (page 3).

Seven screens from SBI registration to the e-receipt, by 25 November 2026

  1. Open the SBI current openings page and find advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28.
  2. Download and read the advertisement, then click Apply Online. For advertisement 28 the button leads to ibpsreg.ibps.in/sbirscooct26. SBI’s separate Fire Engineer advertisement has its own link, so do not mix them up.
  3. Register with an e-mail ID that will stay active until the final result. Call letters come only by e-mail or on the website.
  4. Fill the form. You can save it and come back with the provisional registration number and password.

If you apply more than once, SBI keeps only your last complete application. The fee for the others is lost (page 2).

Test calls in December, interview by February: SBI’s tentative security officer schedule

SBI calls these dates tentative (page 4):

  • Online test call letters: December 2026.
  • Online test: December 2026 or January 2027, at centres across India (Annexure II).
  • Interview, in person or by video call: January or February 2027.
  • Final result: February 2027.

At the test or interview, SBI may scan your left eye (iris) and take your thumb impression to confirm your identity. Remove contact lenses and spectacles for the iris scan. Do not put mehendi or ink on your hands (page 9). Outstation candidates called for interview get back the economy airfare by the shortest route, or the actual fare if lower. The fare is counted from your place of posting or residence, whichever is nearer to the venue. The cap is Rs 10,000 for the to-and-fro journey. Keep the tickets or invoice and boarding pass for the claim. Local taxi or car costs are not repaid (page 10).

No grade split, no relaxation years: five gaps in advertisement 28

  • How the 60 posts split between Manager and Deputy Manager.
  • The number of years of age relaxation for each category, including ex-servicemen.
  • Any fee or reservation rule for persons with disabilities.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in the test sections and the interview.
  • The exact test date and the city-wise centre allotment.
