Bengaluru’s U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) has notified 46 ITI technician seats and 15 driver seats in ISRO URSC Technician B Recruitment 2026. The posts are in Advertisement No. URSC:04:2026 of 24 October 2026. ITI means Industrial Training Institute. The online form runs from 24 October 2026 (5 PM) to 13 November 2026 (11:55 PM). Technician-B needs Class 10 and an ITI certificate from the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). Drivers need Class 10, a valid licence and three or five years of driving experience. The age limit is 18 to 35 on 13 November 2026.

Where these figures come from: this page follows the Hindi and English Advertisement No. URSC:04:2026 (24.10.2026). The notice is listed on the ISRO careers page for URSC:04:2026. On 25 October 2026 the ISRO website showed URSC:04:2026 as Open, with the last date 13 November 2026, and no corrigendum or date extension.

ISRO URSC Technician B Recruitment 2026: 46 seats under eight trade codes

Technician-B is a Level 3 post. A pay level is one of the levels of the central government pay matrix. Every trade asks for SSLC, SSC or Class 10 pass. You also need an ITI, NTC (National Trade Certificate) or NAC (National Apprenticeship Certificate) in that trade. It must be from the NCVT.

Code ITI trade Seats Category split
01 Electronics Mechanic, Technician Power Electronics Systems, Mechanic Consumer Electronics Appliances, Instrument Mechanic or Mechanic Industrial Electronics 24 UR 16, ST 1, OBC 2, EWS 5
02 Fitter 8 UR 4, ST 1, OBC 1, EWS 2
03 Electrician 4 (2 URSC + 2 at the Master Control Facility (MCF), Hassan) UR 3, SC 1
04 Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning 5 (4 URSC + 1 MCF Hassan) UR 3, SC 1, EWS 1
05 Turner 1 UR 1
06 Machinist 2 UR 1, EWS 1
07 Motor Vehicle Mechanic 1 UR 1
08 Electroplater 1 UR 1

UR means unreserved. SC is Scheduled Caste, ST is Scheduled Tribe, OBC is Other Backward Classes and EWS is Economically Weaker Section. The notice does not print a grand total. The rows add up to 46 Technician-B seats and 15 driver seats, so 61 in all.

Code 01 has the most seats: 24, spread over five related electronics trades. Some seats are kept for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD, at least 40% disability). Code 01 has two for visually impaired candidates, one for orthopedically disabled candidates and one for autism spectrum disorder. Fitter has one for hard of hearing candidates. Electrician and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning each have one PwBD backlog seat at URSC.

MCF Hassan is in Karnataka. In code 03, one UR seat and one SC seat are marked for MCF Hassan. In code 04, one UR seat is. Selected staff can still be posted to any ISRO or Department of Space centre in India, and may work round-the-clock shifts.

Driver posts at URSC: 15 seats, and experience counts only after the licence

Code Post Seats Experience needed
09 Light Vehicle Driver-A 3 (UR 2, SC 1) 3 years as a light vehicle driver
10 Staff Car Driver-A 2 (UR 2), for the Department of Space 3 years as a light vehicle driver
11 Heavy Vehicle Driver-A 10 (UR 6, OBC 2, SC 1, EWS 1) 5 years: at least 3 as a heavy vehicle driver, the rest on light motor vehicles

All three driver posts need Class 10 pass and are at Level 2. Light vehicle and staff car drivers need a valid light vehicle licence. Heavy vehicle drivers need a valid heavy vehicle licence and a Public Service Badge where the law asks for one. If your state does not require the badge, you must get it within 3 months of joining in Karnataka. Two of the heavy vehicle seats are for MCF Hassan.

Check these experience rules before you apply for a driver post:

  • Only driving after you got a valid licence counts.
  • The experience certificate must come from a government or semi-government body, a registered company, society or trust. A certificate from a private individual is not accepted.
  • Part-time driving does not count.
  • For light vehicle and staff car posts, any other Karnataka Motor Vehicle Act requirement must be met within 3 months of joining.
  • A Heavy Vehicle Driver-A must drive both heavy and light vehicles when needed.

29 URSC seats are kept for ex-servicemen, and 24 of them are backlog

The notice reserves 21 Technician-B seats and 8 driver seats at URSC for ex-servicemen (ESM). The driver seats are 2 light vehicle and 6 heavy vehicle. Of these 29 ESM seats, 24 are backlog seats left from earlier rounds. One more heavy vehicle seat at MCF Hassan is for an ex-serviceman.

This is a large share of the 61 seats. ESM and PwBD candidates are counted inside their own SC, ST, OBC, EWS or UR category, not on top. If no suitable ex-serviceman is found for a backlog seat, it goes to a candidate of the category that seat belongs to.

Age 18 to 35 at URSC: SC, ST and OBC relief depends on the post code you pick

The age limit for every post is 18 to 35 years on 13 November 2026. The same date is the cut-off for your qualification and experience. Students waiting for final results should not apply.

  • SC and ST get 5 extra years and OBC gets 3, but only against seats reserved for their category.
  • Where a post has no seat for your category, you compete as unreserved with no relaxation. For example, Turner, Motor Vehicle Mechanic and Electroplater are UR only.
  • Central government employees, ex-servicemen, PwBD, meritorious sportspersons, widows and divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried get relaxation “as per Government of India Orders”. The notice does not print the years.

Level 3 and Level 2 at URSC: free transport and limited housing replace two allowances

The notice gives both as levels in the pay matrix. It prints these monthly figures in a column headed “Approx. Gross Emoluments”, plus “admissible allowances”:

Post Pay level Figure in the notice
Technician-B (codes 01 to 08) Level 3 Rs 21,700 a month + allowances
Light Vehicle, Staff Car and Heavy Vehicle Driver-A (codes 09 to 11) Level 2 Rs 19,900 a month + allowances

By our reading, Rs 21,700 and Rs 19,900 are the first pay figures of Level 3 and Level 2, so allowances come on top. URSC also gives free transport instead of Transport Allowance, and limited housing instead of House Rent Allowance (HRA). Other benefits listed are a medical scheme, Leave Travel Concession, subsidised canteens, and advances for a computer or house building. New staff join the National Pension System or the Unified Pension Scheme.

The notice does not print the allowance amounts, and some allowances are given as services, so we have not estimated take-home pay. For scientific and technical posts, the notice says promotion is merit-based and does not wait for a vacancy. For administration and auxiliary posts, promotion depends on vacancies. The notice does not say which group the driver posts are in.

Skip the written test and the whole Rs 500 is lost

The notice sets a non-refundable application fee of Rs 100, and nil for women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen. But every applicant first pays Rs 500 online. How much comes back depends on two things: your category and whether you appear in the written test.

Applicant Pays first Refund if you appear in the written test
Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen Rs 500 Full Rs 500
All others, including OBC and EWS Rs 500 Rs 400 (Rs 100 is kept)

If you skip the written test, you get nothing back. The refund goes to the account you paid from, or else to the bank account you give in the form, so type those details carefully. SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen applicants should upload one such certificate with the form for the full refund.

Payment goes through Bharatkosh, the central government’s payment gateway, by net banking, a domestic bank card or UPI. Cash, cheque and demand drafts are not accepted. You pay the bank’s service charges.

Screening on academic marks comes before the URSC:04:2026 written test

Meeting the minimum qualification does not get you a seat in the exam hall. URSC will first screen applications on academic performance and other details in the form. Only screened-in candidates are called for the written test, which may be held as a computer-based test (CBT). It may be held in Bengaluru or in other cities across India. The skill test is held in Bengaluru only.

Technician-B: 80 questions in 90 minutes, then a trade skill test

  • 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in 1.5 hours. The notice says the syllabus is “curriculum based”.
  • 1 mark for a right answer and 0.33 taken off for a wrong one.
  • To pass, you need 32 out of 80 if unreserved, or 24 out of 80 if a seat is reserved for your category.
  • Candidates go to the skill test in a 1:5 ratio, with at least 10 called.
  • The skill test is out of 100 and only qualifying: 50 for unreserved and 40 for a reserved seat.
  • If both the written scores and the NAC, NTC or ITI marks tie, a candidate with a valid NAC score is placed ahead.

Drivers: 100 questions in 2 hours, half of them on the Motor Vehicles Act

Part Questions Topics
A 50 Motor Vehicles Act, 1988: licensing, registration, traffic control, offences, mandatory signs, accident claims and more
B 15 English of Class 8 level: synonyms, antonyms, verbs, fill in the blanks
C 15 Arithmetic of Class 10 level: basic operations, percentage, ratio, average
D 20 General knowledge, current affairs, states and capitals, geography of India

Each right answer gets 1 mark and each wrong answer loses 0.25. You must score 50% in Part A, and 50% in Parts B, C and D taken together. These pass marks are 25% lower for a reserved category where the post has a seat for it. Candidates go to the driving test in a 1:10 ratio. The driving test is out of 100, and everyone needs 60 to qualify, with no relaxation.

URSC:04:2026 hall tickets come only by e-mail, so use an ID you check daily

  1. Open the URSC:04:2026 page on isro.gov.in and use the online application link given there.
  2. Give an e-mail ID you check daily. Hall tickets and call letters are sent only by e-mail.
  3. Upload a recent colour photo on a white background, not older than 6 months, 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm, in JPG or JPEG, between 100 KB and 200 KB.
  4. Upload your signature in JPG or JPEG, between 80 KB and 150 KB.
  5. Upload your Class 10, ITI or other qualification certificates, driving experience certificates, and an SC, ST, disability or ex-servicemen certificate if it applies to you. A form without these uploads is treated as invalid.
  6. Check every entry before you submit. A submitted form cannot be edited. If you apply again to correct something, only the latest form with a paid fee counts.
  7. Pay the Rs 500 by 13 November 2026, then save your registration number and a printout.

If you work in a central or state government office, a public sector undertaking or an autonomous body, apply with your employer’s permission. You must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in original to the skill test. Without it, you cannot take the test and get no travel fare. If written tests for two posts clash, the notice asks you to choose one.

Watch isro.gov.in for URSC:04:2026 exam dates, cities and any corrigendum

  • The written test and skill test dates, and the list of exam cities.
  • The cut-off for the first screening on academic marks.
  • The number of extra age years for ex-servicemen, PwBD and other groups, beyond “as per Government of India Orders”.

URSC:04:2026 does not yet give these details. The notice says any corrigendum will appear only on the ISRO and URSC websites, not in newspapers. Questions go to cbt@ursc.gov.in.
