GSSSB AAE Mechanical Recruitment 2026 has seven Additional Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Class-3 posts at the Gujarat Maritime Board, under the Ports and Transport Department. The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) split them into two notices dated 26 October 2026. Advt 463/202627 has six posts. Advt 464/202627 has one post only for deaf or hard-of-hearing candidates. A Diploma in Automobile now counts the same as a Mechanical Engineering diploma, under a Ports and Transport Department letter of 8 September 2026. The age band is 18 to 33 on 9 November 2026, with relaxations. OJAS takes forms until 9 November 2026 at 11:59 PM; fee payment stays open until 12 November 2026, 11:59 PM.

Signed 26/10/2026 for the Maritime Board’s seven posts: the 18-page Advt 463/202627 detailed instructions (PDF) and the 17-page Advt 464/202627 for candidates with disabilities (PDF). Both were issued at Gandhinagar in the name of GSSSB’s Secretary; apart from the English qualification clause, the wording here is translated from Gujarati. When we checked the OJAS website on 5 November 2026, its current-advertisement list still gave 9-November-2026 as the closing date for both AAE (Mechanical) notices, with no corrigendum attached. Both PDFs are unchanged since 26 October.

GSSSB AAE Mechanical Recruitment 2026: how Advt 463 and Advt 464 split the seven posts

Notice Posts Split
Advt 463/202627 6 Unreserved 2, EWS 1, SEBC 2, SC 0, ST 1
Advt 464/202627 (special drive for persons with disabilities) 1 For deaf (D) or hard-of-hearing (HH) candidates; no caste-category split

EWS means Economically Weaker Sections, and SEBC means Socially and Educationally Backward Classes. Advt 463 keeps no post for women, ex-servicemen or persons with disabilities. Its disability post was moved to Advt 464. GSSSB says the number of posts may go up or down. Reserved posts are only for reserved-category candidates who are originally from Gujarat.

In Advt 464, if no suitable deaf or hard-of-hearing candidate is found, the post is carried forward to the next recruitment. In Advt 463, candidates with some listed disabilities may still apply for the posts that are not reserved for persons with disabilities. The list includes D and HH, one arm, one leg and several others. Blind and low-vision candidates are not in it.

Mechanical or Automobile diploma, plus Gujarati or Hindi, for the AAE post

The qualification comes from the Gujarat Maritime Board’s recruitment rules of 19 April 2025. The notice prints it in English:

  • A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Examination Board, Gujarat, or from a university set up by a central or state Act or a deemed university. An equivalent qualification recognised by the government also counts.
  • Basic knowledge of computer application, as set out in Gujarat’s 1967 service rules.
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

The Ports and Transport Department’s letter of 8 September 2026 also accepts a Diploma in Automobile as equivalent. No work experience is asked for. You must hold the diploma on 9 November 2026.

Computer knowledge can be shown by an institute’s certificate or a computer diploma or degree. Computer as a subject, or SSC or HSC passed with computer, also counts. If you do not have such proof now, you can still apply. You must show it before you are appointed.

18 to 33 for AAE Mechanical, stretching to 45 for disabled applicants

You must be between 18 and 33 years old on 9 November 2026. The Advt 463 table gives these relaxations:

Group Extra years Highest age allowed
General-category women 5 38
Reserved-category men 5 38
Reserved-category women 10 43
General-category men with a disability 10 43 (see below)
General-category women with a disability 15 45
Reserved-category men with a disability 15 45
Reserved-category women with a disability 20 45
Ex-servicemen Length of service plus 3 years Depends on length of service

Advt 463 is not consistent on one row. Its table on page 3 caps general-category men with a disability at 43, but section 13(2) on page 6 allows 10 years up to 45. Advt 464, the disability notice, uses 45. Reserved candidates who apply for unreserved posts get no relaxation.

Rs 49,600 a month, then Level 7 from Rs 39,900

For the first five years, you are paid a fixed Rs 49,600 a month under Gujarat’s fixed-pay resolutions. After five years of satisfactory service, you become eligible for regular appointment. That is in Level 7 of the Seventh Pay Commission scale, which starts at Rs 39,900. This is subject to the Supreme Court’s decision in SLP 14124/2012 and 14125/2012.

The two notices print a different top figure for Level 7: Rs 1,16,600 in Advt 463 and Rs 1,26,600 in Advt 464. Neither notice gives a probation period, but appointees must complete training and pass a training exam.

Rs 500 or Rs 400, plus a passbook image for the refund

  • Unreserved men: Rs 500.
  • Women of all categories, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, candidates with disabilities and ex-servicemen: Rs 400.
  • Advt 464 (disability post): Rs 400.

You pay online after you get the confirmation number, by debit card, internet banking, UPI or wallet, until 12 November 2026 (11:59 PM). Bank charges are extra. GSSSB refunds the fee to candidates who appear in the exam, by the same mode used to pay. Absent candidates, cancelled applications and fees paid on duplicate forms get no refund. The form collects your bank details and an image of your passbook’s first page for this.

A 40% floor in each part and a quarter-mark penalty in the AAE paper

The exam is a single paper of 210 multiple-choice questions in 3 hours. GSSSB may hold it on computer (CBRT) or on an OMR sheet.

Part Topics Marks
Part-A Reasoning and data interpretation (30), mathematics (30), Constitution, current affairs and Gujarati and English comprehension (30) 90
Part-B Questions on the subject and its use, at diploma level 120
  • Each wrong answer loses one quarter of that question’s marks.
  • You need at least 40% in Part-A and 40% in Part-B separately. The notice says no category gets a lower standard.
  • About twice as many candidates as posts in each category are called for the certificate check.
  • Widows who have not remarried, and sportspersons who represented at national or international, inter-university or All India school level, get 5% of their marks added.

Neither notice gives an exam date.

Fresh form, not an edit: correcting an Advt 463 application before 9 November

  1. Register for OTR (One Time Registration) on ojas.gujarat.gov.in if you have not done it yet. It is compulsory.
  2. Choose GSSSB, then Advt 463 (or 464 for the disability post), and fill the form.
  3. Upload a photo of 5 cm by 3.6 cm and a signature of 2.5 cm by 7.5 cm, as JPG files up to 15 KB. The photo needs a white background and the date it was taken printed on it. That date must not be more than one year before the last date.
  4. Confirm the application to get the confirmation number. You cannot edit it after confirming. To correct a detail, fill a fresh form before 9 November and pay against the new number. The last confirmed form is the valid one, and a fee paid on more than one form is not refunded.
  5. Pay the fee by 12 November 2026.

Use the same photo at every later stage. For help with the form, the notice gives GSSSB’s phone number 079-23258916.

Clashing times and a missing Annexure-S in Advt 463 and 464

  • Advt 463 opens at 6 PM on 26 October, while Advt 464 opens at 2 PM the same day. Both close at 11:59 PM on 9 November.
  • The fee row is labelled “preliminary exam”, though there is only one exam.
  • Advt 464 says a syllabus is attached as Annexure-S, but the PDF has no such page.
  • The Gujarat SEBC non-creamy-layer certificate is asked for on the income of financial years 2023-26 in Advt 463 and 2022-25 in Advt 464. Both want that certificate dated on or after 1 April 2024.

If any of these affects you, call GSSSB on 079-23258916 before you pay.
