GSSSB Surveyor Recruitment 2026: 78 Forest Posts for Civil Diploma and ITI Holders

Forest survey work in Gujarat is open to civil diploma holders and ITI (Industrial Training Institute) Surveyor certificate holders, but not to engineering graduates. GSSSB Surveyor Recruitment 2026, under Advt 467/202627, has 78 Class-3 posts in the Forest and Environment Department. A B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering) in Civil Engineering does not qualify. Most men need a height of 163 cm, and every appointee faces a long walking test at the appointment stage. Forms go in on OJAS, Gujarat’s state job portal, from 30 October 2026 (2 PM) to 20 November 2026 (11:59 PM).

78 Surveyor posts under Gujarat’s forest chief

The posts are under the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force, Gujarat. The category split is below. SEBC means Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, and EWS means Economically Weaker Sections.

Seven of the 78 posts are for ex-servicemen, counted inside the total. No post is reserved for persons with disabilities. Among disabled candidates, only those who are leprosy cured or acid attack victims may apply, though no post is reserved for them. Women’s posts that find no eligible woman go to men of the same category. The other posts are open to both men and women.

Reserved posts are only for SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates who are original residents of Gujarat. A reserved-category candidate who applies for a general post gets no age or other relaxation.

GSSSB Surveyor Recruitment 2026 qualification: civil diploma or ITI Surveyor

Either of these two routes works:

• A Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Technical Examination Board or a recognised university or institution. The notice also lists 14 accepted diplomas, among them the Diploma in Civil Engineering itself, Civil and Rural Engineering, and Civil Draftsman.
• A certificate from a one-year or two-year Surveyor course at a government-recognised ITI (Industrial Training Institute).

A candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is not eligible. No work experience is needed. You must know Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Basic computer knowledge is also part of the rules. You may apply without a computer certificate, but you must show one before appointment. The notice accepts a training certificate on the set syllabus, a computer diploma or degree, or a Class 10 or 12 pass with computer as a subject.

Upper age 33, or 43 for reserved-category women

The age limit is 18 to 33 years on 20 November 2026.

• General women and reserved-category men: 5 more years, up to 38.
• Reserved-category women: 10 more years, up to 43.
• Ex-servicemen: their service period plus 3 years.
• Gujarat government employees: the upper limit may be relaxed under the state’s 1967 service rules. The notice does not give a number.

Disabled candidates get 10 to 20 more years. For general-category disabled men, the page 3 table gives 10 years with a cap of 43, while para 13 on page 8 gives 10 years with a cap of 45. All other disabled candidates are capped at 45. Check with GSSSB on 079-23258916 if this affects you.

163 cm for most men, and 25 km in 4 hours at appointment

A medical officer checks these standards:

The chest must expand by at least 5 cm. At the appointment stage, the appointing authority holds a walking test. Men must walk 25 km in 4 hours, and women 14 km in 4 hours. A person who fails or misses it gets one more chance. Failing that second chance cancels the appointment.

Level 4 pay after five years on Rs 26,000

A new Surveyor is not on the regular pay scale at first. The notice fixes the pay at Rs 26,000 a month for five years. After five years of satisfactory service, the Surveyor moves to regular pay at Level 4 of the 7th Pay Commission scale, Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100. Level 4 is one column of the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix. The notice says the fixed-pay rule is subject to the Supreme Court’s decision in two Special Leave Petitions, SLP 14124/2012 and 14125/2012. It gives no separate probation period, but new Surveyors must complete training and pass a training exam.

One 210-mark exam with 1/4 negative marking

Selection is through one objective exam, held as a computer-based response test (CBRT) or on a machine-read OMR answer sheet. There is no interview.

• A wrong answer costs 1/4 of the marks for that question.
• You need at least 40% in Part A and 40% in Part B separately, in every category.
• About twice as many candidates as posts, category-wise, are called for document verification (DV). DV is the check of your original certificates.
• Widows and listed sportspersons get a bonus of 5% of their exam marks.

The exam date will be announced on gsssb.gujarat.gov.in.

Six OJAS steps for Advt 467, and a photo dated within a year

1. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on ojas.gujarat.gov.in first. OTR alone does not count as an application.
2. Go to Online Application, pick GSSSB and then Advt 467/202627 Surveyor, Class-3.
3. Check the details carried over from OTR, then fill in your Class 10, qualification and bank details. Upload the first page of your bank passbook. The fee refund goes to this account.
4. Upload a passport-size photo with a white background and the date it was taken printed on it. The date must not be more than one year before the last date. Photo size is 5 cm by 3.6 cm, signature 2.5 cm by 7.5 cm, each a JPG of up to 15 KB.
5. Confirm the application and note the confirmation number. Nothing can be changed after you confirm.
6. Pay the fee online by debit card, net banking, UPI or a wallet by 23 November 2026, 11:59 PM. Transaction charges are extra.

The fee is Rs 500 for general candidates. Women of every category, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, disabled and ex-servicemen candidates pay Rs 400. The fee comes back to everyone who sits the exam. Absentees and rejected applicants get no refund. To fix a mistake after confirming, apply again before 20 November 2026 and pay again. Only the last confirmed application with a paid fee counts.

Where Advt 467 Surveyors will be posted is not stated

• The exam date and the language of the question paper are not stated.
• Part B has no detailed syllabus beyond “the relevant subject”.
• The notice does not say where Surveyors will be posted.
