BEL Chennai Vacancy Details
There are 7 posts in total at the Chennai unit.
| Post | Discipline or Trade | Vacancies |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering Assistant Trainee | Electronics | 3 |
| Engineering Assistant Trainee | Civil | 1 |
| Technician C | Electronics Mechanic | 3 |
Please note that the Engineering Assistant Trainee post has two separate seats, one for Electronics and one for Civil, and these are counted separately, not as one combined pool. If you see a website saying the Chennai numbers are 3 EAT and 3 Technician C, that adds up to 6, not 7, which is incorrect. The correct split is 4 Engineering Assistant Trainee posts, made up of 3 Electronics and 1 Civil, plus 3 Technician C posts.
BEL EAT and Technician C 2026 Eligibility
Engineering Assistant Trainee. You need a 3 year Diploma in Engineering, in Electronics or Civil depending on which seat you apply for, from a recognised institution, with at least 60 percent marks. SC and PwBD candidates need at least 50 percent.
Technician C. You need to have passed the SSLC, that is 10th standard, along with an ITI certificate in the Electronics Mechanic trade, plus 1 year of apprenticeship with a National Apprenticeship Certificate. Alternatively, SSLC with a 3 year National Apprenticeship Certificate course in the relevant trade is also accepted. The minimum marks are the same as for EAT, 60 percent generally and 50 percent for SC and PwBD candidates.
BEL EAT and Technician C 2026 Age Limit
The age limit is 18 to 28 years for General and EWS candidates, counted as on 1 June 2026. OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation, SC candidates get 5 years, and PwBD candidates with at least 40 percent disability get 10 years, with some relaxations added together where applicable. Ex-servicemen get relaxation as per government rules.
BEL EAT and Technician C 2026 Application Fee
- General, OBC and EWS candidates: ₹295 (this includes GST)
- SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates: no fee
The fee is paid online only, through SBI Collect, and it is non refundable. While paying, make sure you select Bharat Electronics Limited and then the correct category for the Chennai unit posts, and keep the SBI Collect reference number safe, since you need to enter it in your application.
BEL EAT and Technician C 2026 Selection Process
The selection has three stages.
- Written test. This is an OMR based paper test, not a computer based test, held at Chennai. It has two parts for 150 marks in total. Part 1 is General Aptitude for 50 marks, covering reasoning, comprehension and general knowledge. Part 2 is Technical Aptitude for 100 marks, based on your specific discipline or trade. You need at least 35 percent in each part if you are General, OBC or EWS, and at least 30 percent in each part if you are SC or PwBD.
- Document verification. Shortlisted candidates need to bring original certificates, including mark sheets, category certificate if applicable, apprenticeship certificate for Technician C, and a valid Tamil Nadu Employment Exchange registration card.
- Medical examination. A standard pre employment medical check is done before joining. Please note that colour blindness is a disqualification for these posts.
There is no separate skill test or interview for these two posts, only the written test followed by document verification and the medical exam. If two candidates end up with the same marks, BEL first looks at who scored higher in the Technical part, then who scored higher in General Awareness, then who has a higher qualification percentage, and finally who is older by date of birth.

BEL Pay Scale for EAT and Technician C
Engineering Assistant Trainee gets a 6 month training period with a stipend of ₹24,000 per month. After finishing training and passing a gradation test, the post moves to the regular pay scale of ₹24,500 rising by 3 percent each year up to ₹90,000, along with usual allowances like dearness allowance, house rent allowance and medical benefits.
Technician C is placed on the pay scale of ₹21,500 rising by 3 percent each year up to ₹82,000, again with the standard allowances. The Chennai notice does not mention a separate stipend or training period for Technician C. Since BEL does not publish an exact in hand or gross monthly figure, treat any specific take home number you see elsewhere as an estimate, not an official figure.
Common Mistakes About This Recruitment
- Adding up the Chennai vacancies as 3 EAT and 3 Technician C, which gives 6. The correct total is 7, since EAT itself has 4 posts.
- Copying the vacancy split from BEL’s Panchkula unit notice, which had a different split of 1 EAT and 6 Technician C, and applying it to Chennai by mistake. The two units have separate notices with different numbers.
- Treating this as a temporary or contract job. The notification clearly states it is on a permanent basis, unlike some other BEL notices running at the same time.
- Mixing this up with BEL’s Management Trainee or Engineer entry, which needs a full engineering degree, not a diploma or ITI certificate.
Should You Apply?
If you hold a diploma in Electronics or Civil engineering, or an ITI certificate in Electronics Mechanic with the required apprenticeship, this is a genuine chance at a permanent job in a respected defence public sector company. The number of posts is small, only 7, so competition will be high, but the job security and pay scale make it worth applying if you meet the eligibility. Since the form closes on 8 July 2026, complete your Tamil Nadu Employment Exchange registration and apply as soon as possible.
