SBI Fire Engineer Recruitment 2026 brings 17 Assistant Manager – Engineer (Fire) jobs under advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/29. These are regular bank officer posts, not contract roles. Registration and fee payment are both set for 4 November to 25 November 2026. Fire engineering graduates need 2 years of fire safety work. The other route is for graduate members of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and holders of the Divisional Officers course. That course is run by the National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur. This route needs 3 years as a Station Officer or equal. The age band is 21 to 40 on 31 October 2026, with the upper limit relaxed for reserved categories. Postings can be in any SBI office in India.
One ST backlog seat among the 17 posts of SBI Fire Engineer Recruitment 2026
All 17 posts are in JMGS-I, short for Junior Management Grade Scale I (page 2). One of them is a backlog seat, carried over for an ST candidate.

Page 3 calls all 17, reserved seats included, provisional. The page 2 table has no separate column for persons with disabilities or ex-servicemen.
B.E. (Fire) plus 2 years, or IFE/DO plus 3 as Station Officer
SBI counts both the qualification and the full-time experience up to 31 October 2026 (pages 2 and 3). Which route you take decides how many years you need.

For Route 2, the service can be in a city fire brigade or a state fire brigade. It can also be as the in-charge fire officer of a corporate or big industrial complex. A fire officer post in a state government institution or a PSU also counts.
A certificate that does not name fire safety work can cost you the post, because SBI may cancel the candidature at any point (page 3).
Hydrants, drills and Fire NOCs: the branch work in advertisement 29
The officer looks after fire safety at SBI’s branches and offices (page 4). SBI wants good knowledge of fire prevention and protection systems such as fire pumps, hydrants, detection and alarm systems and sprinklers, plus building evacuation and fire safety audits. The listed duties include:
- visiting branches to review fire safety and suggest upgrades
- annual fire safety audits, and closing the points they raise
- checking drawings, layouts and estimates for fire equipment
- writing fire orders and running fire and evacuation drills
- training staff, floor marshals and fire control room teams
- dealing with fire services and municipal bodies, and getting the Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) for bank premises
The list is described as illustrative, so other duties can be added.

The Professional Knowledge part draws on three areas: fire engineering, fire service administration, and fire service Acts and by-laws (page 4). Wrong answers carry no penalty.
SBI’s tentative calendar puts call letters in December 2026 and the test in December 2026 or January 2027. Interviews follow in January or February 2027, and the result in February 2027 (page 3). Centres are listed state by state in Annexure I (page 11), but the list is tentative. Requests to change the centre, date or session are refused, and SBI may give you a centre you did not pick (page 5).
Why a test mark outweighs an interview mark in SBI’s 70:30 merit
Page 5 converts the 125-mark test into 70 and the 100-mark interview into 30. On those figures (our arithmetic), a correct answer moves your final score about 1.9 times as much as an extra interview mark.
Only test qualifiers reach the interview, called category-wise in numbers SBI decides. SBI also sets the pass mark for the interview. Where candidates tie at the cut-off, the notice ranks them “according to their age in descending order”, which we read as older first. SBI may also change the method to shortlisting and interview (page 5).
Rs 48,480 to Rs 85,920: the JMGS-I basic pay ladder
The scale printed on page 4 is Rs 48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2-67,160-2,680/7-85,920. Basic pay starts at Rs 48,480 and reaches Rs 85,920 after 16 increments of Rs 2,000, Rs 2,340 and Rs 2,680. Probation lasts 6 months.
Page 4 names the allowances, DA (dearness allowance), HRA (house rent allowance) and CCA (city compensatory allowance), and benefits such as PF, NPS, leave fare concession and medical facility. It prints no rates for any of them, so only basic pay is shown here.
A 40-year cap, with the relaxation years left unprinted
A UR Station Officer who turned 41 by 31 October 2026 is out, since 40 is the UR limit (page 2). Reserved categories get extra years, but page 3 does not print how many, allows only one relaxation, and asks for the proof at the interview. The caste certificate and date of birth proof are still uploaded with the form (page 6).
Rs 750 or nil: paying the fee is what registers you
Registration counts only once the fee is paid, by 25 November 2026 (page 2). The amount is Rs 750 in fee and intimation charges for General, EWS and OBC applicants, and nil for SC and ST (page 6). It is never refunded or moved to another exam, and gateway charges fall on you. File one form only: a later complete submission replaces the earlier one, whose fee is forfeited (page 2).
Three edits, a live photo and a hand-written declaration on the SBI form
Use an email ID that stays active until the result. SBI sends advices by email, puts the test call letter on its site, and sends the interview call by email or the site (pages 2 and 5).

A file in the wrong slot can stop you from sitting the exam (page 8). After final submission nothing can be corrected (page 12), and the category you pick at registration is final (page 3). Do not post a hard copy to SBI (page 2); keep a printout of the form and e-receipt for yourself (page 6).
Originals, NOC and the Rs 10,000 airfare cap at interview
Originals are not checked before the test. SBI verifies them when you report for the interview and may check again later (pages 5 and 9). A candidate found ineligible then is turned away without travel money (page 5). OBC candidates in the creamy layer register as UR; the OBC-NCL certificate must be issued between 1 April 2026 and the interview date. EWS candidates without an Income & Asset Certificate on 2025-26 income apply as UR. The category cannot be changed later (page 3).
Staff of government or quasi-government offices, PSUs, nationalised banks and financial institutions bring an employer NOC. Without it the candidature may not be considered and travel costs are not paid (page 9). Outstation candidates get economy return airfare by the shortest route, from their posting or home, whichever is nearer. The cap is Rs 10,000 or the actual fare if lower, against tickets and boarding pass; local transport is not paid. The job is for medically fit candidates, and the appointment depends on SBI’s medical check (pages 2 and 9).
Did you serve as in-charge fire officer at a corporate or industrial complex? Then our suggestion is a certificate on company letterhead. It should name the post and give dates up to 31 October 2026.
