The TGPSC MPSO ASO notification 2026 is Notification No. 07/G/ES/2026 of the Telangana Public Service Commission, dated 28 October 2026. It fills 102 posts of Mandal Planning and Statistical Officer (MPSO) and Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Telangana. The online form runs from 30 October 2026 to 27 November 2026, and the last time to submit is 5:00 PM on 27 November. You need a bachelor’s degree with Statistics, as a main subject or as a paper inside Mathematics, Economics, Commerce or Computer Science. The degree result must be out by 28 October 2026. The age limit is 18 to 44 years on 1 July 2026.

Documents behind the 102-post count: the 35-page TGPSC Notification No. 07/G/ES/2026 and the one-page web note, both signed by the Commission’s Secretary on 28/10/2026. Para numbers and page numbers in brackets below point to the full notification. The form itself opens on the TGPSC website. TGPSC re-uploaded the full notification late on 28 October 2026; the only text change we found is the spelling of the exam month. On 29 October 2026 the TGPSC website showed no corrigendum or date extension for 07/G/ES/2026.

Zone VI has 25 of the 102 seats in the TGPSC MPSO ASO notification 2026

These are zonal posts, so local reservation applies (para 13.8). Annexure-I on page 14 splits the 102 seats across the seven zones of Telangana. Each zone has two columns, marked UR and L. The notice does not spell out these letters on that page. Para 5.1 says 95% of the posts are kept for local candidates.

Zone Districts (para 5.2, pages 6 and 7) UR L Seats
Zone I, Kaleshwaram Kumrambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli, Mulugu 1 11 12
Zone II, Basara Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtiyal 1 13 14
Zone III, Rajanna Karimnagar, Rajanna-Sircilla, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy 1 14 15
Zone IV, Bhadradri Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Hanamkonda, Warangal 1 16 17
Zone V, Yadadri Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir, Jangaon 1 6 7
Zone VI, Charminar Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sanga Reddy, Vikarabad 1 24 25
Zone VII, Jogulamba Mahaboobnagar, Narayanpet, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Wanaparthi, Nagarkurnool 1 11 12
Total 7 95 102

In every zone, the single UR seat is an OC (open category) seat. The category seats all sit in the L columns. Zone VI is the only zone with seats for Backward Classes (BC) groups D and E and for SC Group III, one each. It also has the only Hearing Handicapped (HH) seat, which the table marks “1CF”. The notice does not expand “CF” on that page; page 2 and para 4.8 refer to carried-forward vacancies. Each zone has one seat for Visually Handicapped (VH) applicants. No zone has a seat for ex-servicemen or sportspersons.

The count can still change. TGPSC adds vacancies only before the exam date, and it can delete them until the final selection (page 2). There is no waiting list under this notification (para 13.1). Seats left unfilled go to the next recruitment.

Local candidate rule of G.O.Ms.No.124 for the MPSO ASO zones

Local status comes from para 7 of Government Order G.O.Ms.No.124 of 30 August 2018, which the notice quotes (pages 5 and 6). You are local to an area if you studied there for at least four consecutive academic years. Those four years must end with the year in which you first sat the “relevant qualifying examination”. If you did not study in any educational institution for all or part of that period, four years of residence in the area just before that exam counts instead.

The notice defines the relevant qualifying examination as the minimum qualification exam for the post or the Seventh Class exam, whichever is lower. Its document list asks for a School Study Certificate for Classes 1 to 7 (Annexure-VI, page 32). Applicants who did not study in a school for that period need a residence certificate from the Telangana Government. Applicants from other states get no reservation of any kind (note under para 4.17).

Statistics in the degree: five routes TGPSC accepts for MPSO and ASO

Para 3.2 lists five degrees. Any one of them is enough.

  • A bachelor’s degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects.
  • A bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a main subject, with Statistics as a paper in one, two or all three years.
  • The same rule with Economics as the main subject.
  • The same rule with Commerce as the main subject.
  • The same rule with Computer Science as the main subject.

The degree must come from a university set up under a Central or State Act, a deemed university, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government. Distance or open university degrees count only if the UGC, AICTE or Distance Education Bureau recognises them (para 3.3).

The cut-off date is the notification date, 28 October 2026 (para 3.1). Para 3.2 adds that the university must have declared the result by then. Writing the final exam, or a result still being processed, does not count. So a final-year student whose result came out after 28 October 2026 cannot apply.

G.O.Ms.No.86 lifts the MPSO ASO upper age from 34 to 44

Age is counted on 1 July 2026. You must not be born after 1 July 2008 (minimum 18) or before 2 July 1982 (maximum 44), as paras 6.2 and 6.3 say. The upper limit was 34. G.O.Ms.No.86 of 18 May 2026 raised it by 10 years to 44 (note under para 1.10). Nobody past 61, the retirement age, can be appointed.

Who Extra years on the upper limit (para 6.4)
SC, ST, BC and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) 5 years
Persons with disabilities 10 years
Telangana State Government employees (not corporation or municipal staff) Up to 5 years, based on regular service
Ex-servicemen 3 years plus the length of armed forces service
NCC instructors 3 years plus the length of NCC service

SC, ST, BC, EWS and disabled applicants who use the age relaxation are still considered for open category seats (note under para 4.2). Community and EWS certificates must come from a Telangana revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.

Rs 1,000 processing fee plus Rs 80 exam fee for 07/G/ES/2026

TGPSC charges two separate fees (para 8). The application processing fee is Rs 1,000 for OC and BC applicants and Rs 500 for SC, ST and PwD (persons with disabilities) applicants. The exam fee is Rs 80, and every applicant pays it except unemployed applicants. The notice adds that employees of any government, PSU or corporation must pay it.

Applicant Processing fee Exam fee Total
OC or BC, unemployed Rs 1,000 Nil Rs 1,000
OC or BC, not unemployed Rs 1,000 Rs 80 Rs 1,080
SC, ST or PwD, unemployed Rs 500 Nil Rs 500
SC, ST or PwD, not unemployed Rs 500 Rs 80 Rs 580

The fee clause does not name EWS applicants in either group. You pay online by net banking, a debit or credit bank card, or UPI. The fee is not refunded or adjusted for any reason. Unemployed applicants claiming the exemption may be asked for a declaration (Annexure-VI, item 7).

Two 150-mark papers: General Studies and degree-level Statistics

Selection rests on a written objective test alone (para 12.1). The notice names no interview. TGPSC will run the test either on OMR sheets (machine-read answer sheets) or as a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) and will announce the mode later (para 1.5). If a CBRT runs in more than one session, scores are normalised under Annexure-VII.

Paper Questions Minutes Marks
Paper I: General Studies and General Abilities 150 150 150
Paper II: Statistics (degree level) 150 150 150
Total 300 300

Both papers are set in English and Telugu (Annexure-II, page 15). Paper I has 13 topics, including the economy, geography, history and policies of Telangana, the Telangana statehood movement and basic English. Paper II starts with data collection, averages and dispersion, and probability. It then moves to distributions and testing, correlation and regression, time series, index numbers and sampling. The last unit is computer basics, such as binary numbers and MS-Office (page 16). You must sit both papers, or you are out (para 12.5).

The exam is tentatively set for January 2027, with the exact date to come later (para 1.9). Hall tickets open 7 days before the exam. Centres are Hyderabad (including the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, HMDA, area), Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal and Nizamabad. TGPSC does not accept centre change requests.

40%, 35% or 30% to qualify, and how TGPSC breaks a tie

The minimum marks are 40% for OC, sportspersons and EWS, 35% for BCs, and 30% for SC, ST and disabled applicants (para 12.2). If SC or ST applicants do not reach that mark, they can still be selected on their actual marks (para 12.4). Seats are allotted by merit and your web-option preference (para 12.3).

When two applicants have equal total marks, para 12.6 sets the order:

  1. Local candidates of Telangana rank above others.
  2. The older applicant ranks higher.
  3. Higher marks in the subject paper (Paper II) rank higher.
  4. Then the date of passing the qualifying degree, then the higher percentage of marks in that degree.
  5. Then a higher qualification, its passing date and its percentage.

After the test, TGPSC posts a key. Objections cost Rs 500 per question, and the fee comes back if the objection is upheld (para 11.2). Marks are worked out to three decimal places.

Pay scale Rs 36,750 to Rs 1,06,990 for Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers

The notice gives one scale for both designations: Rs 36,750 to Rs 1,06,990 (para 1.10). The scale starts at Rs 36,750. The notice does not state Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) or an in-hand figure. We have not used a Telangana DA order here, so this page gives no in-hand estimate. Selected candidates must pass a medical test and be willing to work anywhere in Telangana (paras 12.8 and 12.9).

TGPSC OTR, photo sizes and the 5 PM cut-off on 27 November 2026

  1. If you have no TGPSC ID, fill the One Time Registration (OTR) form on the TGPSC website first. OTR alone is not an application.
  2. Open the online application link and log in with your TGPSC ID, date of birth and the OTP sent to your registered mobile.
  3. Check the details pulled from your OTR: name, date of birth, qualification, community, gender and disability. Only OTR details present at submission count; later OTR changes are ignored (para 7.2).
  4. Pick your exam centre, preview the form and click SAVE & PAYMENT.
  5. Pay the fee online, then click CONFIRM & SUBMIT and download the PDF application with its Reference ID.

Your photo must be a recent colour passport-size photo, taken no more than 3 months before the last date, sized 100 KB to 200 KB. The signature file must be 20 KB to 30 KB. Both go in JPG or PNG format (Annexure-VI). If you forget to mark your disability in the OTR, you will not be considered for a disability seat (para 7.4). Government employees must tell their head of office in writing and give a No Objection Certificate (NOC) when asked.

For technical problems, the helpdesk numbers are 040-23120301 and 040-23120302, from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM on working days, or helpdesk@tgpsc.gov.in.

Negative marking, EWS fee and the MPSO-ASO split: not yet printed in 07/G/ES/2026

  • Exam date and mode: only “January 2027” and “OMR or CBRT” so far.
  • Negative marking: the notice does not mention it at all.
  • EWS fee: the fee clause names only OC and BC, and SC, ST and PwD.
  • Which posts are MPSO and which are ASO: the notice lists both names as one post and gives one combined count.

Watch the TGPSC website for an addendum or corrigendum on these points.
