ARCI Recruitment 2026 brings six kinds of job, from Driver “A” to Scientist “B”, with 29 seats in all under Advt. No. ARCI/HRD/RECT/1/2026. ARCI is the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, a research centre of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in Hyderabad. The online form runs from 22 October to 21 November 2026. Driver “A” needs Class 10 and a licence for light and heavy vehicles, while Scientist “B” needs a B.E. or B.Tech. Every written test is in Hyderabad, and the computer-based test is tentatively set for 23 December 2026.

Checked against ARCI’s advertisement and two companion PDFs: the 16-page advertisement No. ARCI/HRD/RECT/1/2026, the 5-page “General Terms and Conditions” and the 3-page guide to the online form. All three are linked from the ARCI advertisement page, which shows 22.10.2026 as the date of publication. The advertisement PDF gives the posts, fees and exam patterns. On 24 October 2026 the ARCI website showed no corrigendum or date extension for ARCI/HRD/RECT/1/2026. Its vacancies list gave the end date as 21.11.2026.

Seats, pay level and age limit for each of the six ARCI Recruitment 2026 posts

A pay level is one of the levels in the central government pay matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC). ARCI also prints a rough monthly total for each post. That total is basic pay plus Dearness Allowance (DA, a cost-of-living addition), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance, at the start of the pay level.

Post (code) Seats Category split Pay level ARCI’s monthly total (approx.) Upper age
Scientist “B” (R&D) (SB001) 4 UR 2, OBC 2 10 Rs 1,18,110 30
Officer “B” (Finance & Accounts) (OB001), on deputation 1 Not split 10 Rs 1,18,110 56
Technical Assistant “A” (TA001) 7 UR 6, EWS 1 6 Rs 73,020 30
Assistant “A” (AA001) 6 UR 4, OBC 1, SC 1 5 Rs 61,240 28
Technician “A” (TC001) 9 UR 8, EWS 1 4 Rs 54,210 28
Driver “A” (DA001) 2 UR 2 2 Rs 39,970 27
Total 29

UR means unreserved, OBC means Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS means Economically Weaker Section. Two seats across Technical Assistant “A”, Assistant “A” and Technician “A” go to persons with disabilities (orthopaedic, hearing or visual disability). The notice does not say which of the three posts they fall in. ARCI also says the number of posts is provisional.

These are gross monthly figures from ARCI, not take-home pay. The notice does not print the basic pay in rupees. It also lists other benefits: the New Pension Scheme (NPS), gratuity, medical reimbursement, Children Education Allowance and Leave Travel Concession. ARCI does not say what is deducted from pay, so we have not estimated take-home pay.

Branch, trade and office splits within the ARCI posts

  • Scientist “B”: Metallurgy or Materials Science 2 (UR 1, OBC 1); Mechanical 2 (UR 1, OBC 1).
  • Technical Assistant “A”: Metallurgy 3 (UR 2, EWS 1); Mechanical 2; Electrical 1; Chemistry 1.
  • Technician “A”: Fitter 6 (UR 5, EWS 1); Turner 1; Electrician 2.
  • Assistant “A”: 5 seats at ARCI Hyderabad and 1 seat at the ARCI Gurugram office (NCR).

An M.Sc. or B.Tech. rules you out of Technical Assistant “A” at ARCI

Technical Assistant “A” needs one of two routes. The first is a B.Sc. in Physical Sciences with Chemistry as one of the subjects. The second is a three-year full-time diploma in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

ARCI calls this an entry-level post. So a candidate with an M.Sc., B.Tech., B.E., M.Tech., M.E., M.S. or Ph.D. “in any subject or discipline” will not be considered. A branch outside the listed ones is also rejected. The notice warns that an appointment can be cancelled later if a higher degree comes to light.

Technician “A” at ARCI: a two-year ITI plus three years in a workshop

Technician “A” needs Class 10 and a two-year full-time ITI in Fitter, Turner or Electrician. On top of that, you need three years of technical experience in industry or a research (R&D) laboratory. Two rules apply to this experience:

  • Apprenticeship training and trainee experience count towards the three years. Part-time work does not count.
  • The experience must be backed by membership of NPS or the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), and of the ESI scheme (the notice says “NPS/ EPF & ESI membership”). A certificate from an unregistered company or a person is not accepted.

The higher-qualification bar is stricter here. A diploma, a B.Sc. or any higher degree in any subject rules you out of Technician “A”.

ARCI Assistant “A” asks for a degree and three years of office work

Assistant “A” is not a fresher’s post. You need a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in work such as a Director’s office, administration, HR, finance and accounts, purchase and inventory, or liaison. That experience must be in a government department, an academic or scientific institution, an autonomous body or a research laboratory. ARCI also wants good knowledge of MS Office, e-Office and ERP software.

Experience is counted from the date you got the essential qualification up to 21 November 2026. The upper age for this post is 28.

Six years of heavy-vehicle driving, but an age cap of 27, for Driver “A”

Driver “A” needs Class 10, a valid licence for light and heavy vehicles, and some knowledge of how a motor vehicle works. The experience rule is strict. You need at least three years of driving light vehicles and at least six years of driving heavy vehicles. That experience counts only after you got the light and heavy licences. And your age must not cross 27 on 21 November 2026.

The experience certificate must come from an employer such as the armed forces (for ex-servicemen), a government body, a transport corporation or a registered company. It must be backed by NPS or EPF membership and ESI membership. ARCI says preference will be given to ex-servicemen for this post. ARCI also lists Hindi or Telugu communication skills as desirable.

Scientist “B” and Officer “B” at Pay Level 10

Scientist “B” needs a B.E. or B.Tech. in Materials, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. A master’s degree and one year of R&D work are only desirable. The selected scientists will work in areas such as energy materials, surface engineering, ceramics, carbon materials and powder metallurgy.

Officer “B” (Finance & Accounts) is a deputation post, normally for up to three years, not open recruitment. It is only for serving officers in central or state government, universities, research institutions or statutory and autonomous bodies. They must hold a similar post, or have five years in Level 7 or 8, or eight years in Level 6. Besides the online form, this applicant must send the application through the employer, with the employer’s certificate. It goes to the Senior Administrative and Personnel Officer at ARCI before 21 November 2026.

Only ARCI Assistant “A” and Scientist “B” applicants can use SC or OBC age relief

ARCI counts age on the closing date, 21 November 2026. The upper limits are in the table above. No lower age limit is printed.

SC candidates get 5 extra years and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3. But this applies only where a seat is reserved for that category. In this advertisement:

  • SC relaxation can apply only to Assistant “A”, which has 1 SC seat.
  • OBC relaxation can apply only to Scientist “B” (2 OBC seats) and Assistant “A” (1 OBC seat).
  • Anyone who applies for an unreserved seat is treated like a general candidate, with no age relaxation.

Relaxation for persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen follows central government orders, which the notice does not spell out. Serving central government employees get relaxation only for posts in the same or an allied line of work. No seat is reserved for ST candidates in this advertisement.

Every ARCI applicant pays, by UPI or bank transfer, once for each post

No group applies free in this advertisement. SC, EWS, disabled, women and ex-servicemen candidates pay a reduced fee, and the fee is charged for each post you apply for.

Category Scientist “B” or Officer “B” Technical Assistant, Assistant, Technician or Driver “A”
General and OBC Rs 600 Rs 500
SC, EWS, persons with disabilities, women and ex-servicemen Rs 400 Rs 300

Three rules from pages 8 and 9 of the advertisement PDF file:

  • A reserved-category candidate who applies against an unreserved seat pays the full fee. For example, an SC candidate applying for Technician “A” (no SC seat) pays Rs 500.
  • The fee goes by UPI or NEFT/RTGS to ARCI’s Canara Bank account (Kanchanbagh branch, Hyderabad). The account details and a UPI QR code are on page 8 of the PDF file. You must type the transfer details into the form and attach the transaction receipt.
  • ARCI must receive an NEFT or RTGS payment by 21 November 2026. The fee is not refunded in any case, and bank charges are yours.

The fee table does not name ST candidates at all.

One ARCI test day in Hyderabad: written test patterns and negative marks

ARCI first screens the forms on academic record and experience. Screened-in candidates then sit a computer-based Competitive Written Examination (CWE). The CWE is in English and is held only in Hyderabad. ARCI pays no travel allowance and gives no accommodation, and asks candidates to plan for one or two days in Hyderabad.

Post CWE Negative marking Next stage Final merit
Scientist “B” 3 hours, 100 questions, 300 marks (90 on engineering, 10 on reasoning) 1 mark per wrong answer in both sections Interview; the notice says “up to a minimum of ten (10) times” the seats are called 50% CWE + 50% interview
Technical Assistant “A” 3 hours, 200 marks: 50 subject questions of 3 marks, 50 general questions of 1 mark 1 mark per wrong subject answer; none in the general part Trade or skill test, up to 6 times the seats CWE marks only
Assistant “A” 3 hours, 200 marks: 75 rules questions of 2 marks, 50 general questions of 1 mark Half a mark per wrong rules answer; none in the general part Skill test, up to 6 times the seats CWE marks only
Technician “A” 3 hours, 200 marks: 50 trade questions of 3 marks, 50 general questions of 1 mark 1 mark per wrong trade answer; none in the general part Trade or skill test, up to 6 times the seats CWE marks only

For Technical Assistant, Assistant and Technician “A”, the trade or skill test is pass or fail (“go-no-go”). Its marks do not count. Your rank comes from the CWE alone, so the written test decides these 22 seats. The general part has 15 English, 10 general knowledge and 25 reasoning and numerical ability questions. Assistant “A” rules questions cover administration, finance and accounts, and stores and purchase, 25 each.

Officer “B” has no written test. Shortlisted officers give a 10 to 15 minute presentation on their work, followed by an interview.

Register once as a Jobseeker, pay, then upload: the ARCI online steps

  1. Open the ARCI vacancies page, click View Details for this advertisement, and pick your post. The button next to each post opens a login page.
  2. Register as a Jobseeker with one email ID and one mobile number. ARCI does not allow a second registration with other details. Set your password from the link that comes by email.
  3. Pay the fee by UPI or NEFT/RTGS and keep the receipt. ARCI rejects duplicate transaction numbers.
  4. Keep every file ready before you start, because the site logs you out after a short idle time. Upload your photo, signature, photo ID, certificates, experience certificate, the payment receipt and, for drivers, the licence.
  5. Tick only one qualification as your essential qualification.
  6. If you work in a government department, university, research institution, or a semi-government, statutory or autonomous body, upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) with vigilance clearance. OBC and EWS certificates must be issued within one year before 21 November 2026.
  7. Submit by 21 November 2026 and keep a printout. You do not post a paper copy at this stage, except for Officer “B”. Some applicants work in a government department, university, research institution or statutory or autonomous body. If they get shortlisted, a copy of the form with the NOC and vigilance clearance must then go by post through the employer.

The form also asks for referees, preferably one from your current or last employer. For problems with the portal, ARCI gives the helpline 040-24452700. Shortlisted candidates bring a hard copy of the form and self-attested certificates to the interview or skill test.

Some sites give 16 November for ARCI Recruitment 2026

Some job sites we saw on 24 October 2026 listed 16 November 2026 as the last date and gave October start dates other than 22 October. ARCI’s own PDF, its advertisement page and its vacancies list all say 21 November 2026. Go by ARCI’s own website. The general terms also say the closing date will not be extended for last-minute technical problems.

For more openings, see all-India government jobs, Telangana government jobs and PSU and research body jobs. ITI holders can browse jobs for ITI pass candidates, and graduates can see jobs for graduates. Fitters and electricians may also look at the CSIR-CFTRI Technician posts in Mysuru, where the online form closes on 18 November 2026.
