Six actuarial and 13 data posts at the headquarters of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) are in ESIC Actuarial and Data Analytics Recruitment 2026, all on contract. The ESIC website gives the online form dates as 22 October 2026 to 12 November 2026. An older copy of the notice on the application portal says 21 October to 11 November 2026, so submit by 11 November to be safe. The six sit in the Actuarial 2.0 Branch and the 13 in a new Data and Analytics Branch. Every post asks for at least 3 years of experience, and most ask for 5 to 15. Pay is a fixed monthly amount from Rs 80,000 to Rs 3,30,000. There is no written test: ESIC shortlists from the online applications and then interviews.

The ESIC notice behind this page: advertisement No. A-12016/14/2026-E-III, dated 22 October 2026, from the E-III branch at ESIC headquarters. It is a 15-page English PDF with a typed text layer. The 19-professionals advertisement (PDF) is listed on the ESIC recruitments page. That row gives 22 October 2026 as the date and 12 November 2026 as the last date. On 26 October 2026 that row still showed no corrigendum or addendum for advertisement A-12016/14/2026-E-III, and the PDF had not changed. The “Instructions” link on the application portal opens an earlier copy of the same advertisement, dated 21 October 2026, with different form dates (explained below).

Why ESIC is hiring actuaries and data staff on contract

ESIC runs the Employees’ State Insurance scheme under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The notice says Section 37 of the ESI Act, 1948 and Section 119 of the Social Security Code, 2020 require actuarial valuation of its schemes. An actuarial valuation checks whether a fund can pay future benefits. The notice also cites the DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection) Act, 2023, which brings strict rules on data privacy and security. So ESIC wants to strengthen its Actuarial Branch, called Actuarial 2.0 in the vacancy table, and set up a Data and Analytics Branch at its headquarters.

From two actuarial papers to fellowship: what each ESIC post asks for

The actuarial posts depend on exams of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI). The notice treats Fellow (FIAI) as a higher IAI qualification than Associate.

  • Chief Actuary: Fellow of the IAI, with 15 years of actuarial work after the fellowship. At least 5 of those years must be at senior leadership level with large insurance or social security portfolios.
  • Senior Actuarial Specialist (Valuation): Associate or Fellow of the IAI. You need 10 years in valuation, projections, stress testing or scenario analysis in life, health or social insurance.
  • Senior Actuarial Specialist (Policy): Associate of the IAI, or a postgraduate degree with at least 5 IAI papers cleared. You also need 8 years of post-qualification actuarial work that includes policy impact analysis or scheme design.
  • Actuarial Analyst / Modeller: a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Engineering, and 2 to 6 IAI papers cleared.
  • Statistical / Research Officer: a postgraduate degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Data Science, with 5 years of statistical or research work.
  • CDAO: a postgraduate degree in a field such as Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science or Engineering (Data/IT), or an equivalent professional qualification. You need 15 years of work, including 7 at senior leadership level.
  • Data Governance Officer and Data Analytics Officer: a postgraduate degree in a listed subject such as Statistics or Economics, with 10 years of work.

  • Technical Officers: 5 years of work each. Data Engineers need a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science, IT or Data Engineering, or equivalent. Data Analysts need a postgraduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or Data Analytics. The Data Quality post takes a graduate or postgraduate degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or Computer Applications. The Data Privacy post takes a graduate degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or Law.

Age caps of 45, 50 and 62, counted on a date ESIC does not give

Posts Upper age limit
Chief Actuary, CDAO 62 years
Both Senior Actuarial Specialists, Data Governance, Data Engineering, Data Analytics and Data Protection officers 50 years
Actuarial Analyst, Statistical / Research Officer, all four Technical Officer posts 45 years

The notice does not say on which date your age is counted. It also gives no date for counting your qualification or years of experience. It does not mention any age relaxation, any reserved seats or any application fee. The notice gives no helpline or e-mail for questions. If your age or experience is close to a limit, ask ESIC before you apply. The application portal’s Contact Us page lists 011-23604700 (extension 214 or 215) for administrative issues. Also check the ESIC recruitments page for any corrigendum.

Page 1 says 3 years, page 4 says 3 to 6: the Actuarial Analyst’s experience

The vacancy table on page 1 says the Actuarial Analyst / Modeller needs a “Minimum 3 years” of experience. The post details on page 4 give the essential experience as 3 to 6 years in actuarial modelling, valuation support or insurance analytics. So page 4 reads like a range with an upper end of 6 years. The notice does not say whether someone with more than 6 years can apply. No other post in the notice gives a range like this. Both online copies of the notice print the same two figures. If you have more than 6 years of such experience, confirm with ESIC on 011-23604700 (extension 214 or 215) before you apply.

What the ESIC contract pays and what it leaves out

The pay is one consolidated amount each month. The selection committee or competent authority fixes your exact figure inside the band. It looks at your qualifications, relevant experience and interview performance. The notice says the figure “shall not be open to negotiation, review, or appeal” on the ground of what others get. Income tax is deducted at source (TDS).

Unless the contract says otherwise, there is no yearly increment and no Dearness Allowance (DA). There is also no pension, gratuity, General Provident Fund, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Leave Travel Concession or medical reimbursement. Leave builds up at 1.5 days for each completed month and cannot be carried into the next calendar year. Up to one month of unpaid leave may be allowed with the approval of the Director General.

The first term is 3 years. ESIC may extend it by up to 2 more years, one year at a time, based on performance and need. The extension is at ESIC’s discretion. Either side can end it with one month’s notice or one month’s pay. ESIC can end it at once, without notice, for misconduct, fraud or false information. The post gives no right to a regular job. The notice says it also does not make you a Government of India employee for loans, visas or other outside purposes. You may not take up private practice, outside consulting or any other job during the term.

No written test: ESIC shortlists on paper, then interviews

There is no written or online test. Selection runs in two stages.

  1. Scrutiny and shortlisting: ESIC checks qualification, experience and age from the details and documents you upload. It then scores the essential qualification, any desirable qualification and your years of relevant experience. Up to 10 candidates per seat go to the interview, or another ratio ESIC decides. Everyone tied at the last place is called.
  2. Personal interview: a committee of at least three members interviews you. An officer of Insurance Commissioner rank or above chairs it, and at least one member is an outside expert in actuarial or data science. The final list is in order of merit.

ESIC may keep a reserve panel of up to 3 candidates per seat. It lasts up to one year from the panel date, or until the next selection, whichever is earlier. Results are posted on the ESIC website.

12 November on the ESIC website, 11 November in the portal copy of the ESIC notice

ESIC has put two copies of advertisement A-12016/14/2026-E-III online, and they give different dates for the online form.

  • The copy on the ESIC recruitments page is dated 22 October 2026 on page 1. On page 14 (How to Apply, point 2) it says the portal is open from 22.10.2026 to 12.11.2026. The recruitments page row also shows 12 November 2026 as the last date.
  • The copy behind the “Instructions” link on the portal’s login page is dated 21 October 2026 on page 1. On page 14 (point 2) it says the portal is open from 21.10.2026 to 11.11.2026.

The 22 October copy is the later one, and ESIC’s own listing gives 12 November. But page 15 (point 5) of both copies says forms sent after “the closing date and time specified on the portal” will not be accepted. The portal’s login page does not show that date or time. So do not wait for the last day: submit by 11 November 2026. If you need a firm answer, ask ESIC. The notice itself gives no helpline or e-mail. The portal’s Contact Us page lists 011-23604700 (extension 214 or 215) for administrative issues, and ITCare@esic.nic.in or 011-27552237 for website issues.

Applying on the ESIC engagement portal, ideally by 11 November 2026

  1. Open the ESIC engagement recruitment portal, which the notice says is reachable from esic.gov.in. The form is online only.
  2. Fill in every detail and upload documents for your age, qualifications and experience. ESIC checks eligibility from the details and documents you give online.
  3. Check the form and documents before the final submission. The notice says the closing date and time are those shown on the portal. Aim to finish by 11 November 2026, the earlier of the two closing dates ESIC has put online.

Shortlisting gives marks for years of relevant work and for any desirable qualification. So make sure the experience you enter and upload clearly shows your relevant years and work. Add any desirable degree or certificate the notice names for your post.
