RRB NTPC Under Graduate 2026: 1,688 Ticket, Junior, Accounts and Trains Clerk Posts
On this page
Class 12 pass candidates can try for 1,688 railway clerk posts in the RRB NTPC Under Graduate 2026 drive. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) announced it in Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 07/2026. Applications are accepted online from 15 October 2026 to 13 November 2026 (until 11:59 PM). The fee deadline is 15 November 2026. You must be 18 to 30 on 1 January 2027. Each of the four posts asks for 50% marks in Class 12, with some groups exempt.
Ticket Clerk at Level 3, three clerk posts at Level 2: the 1,688 RRB NTPC Under Graduate 2026 seats
| Post | 7th CPC level | Initial pay | Vision standard | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk | 3 | Rs 21,700 | B-2 | 700 |
| Junior Clerk Cum Typist | 2 | Rs 19,900 | C-2 | 600 |
| Accounts Clerk Cum Typist | 2 | Rs 19,900 | C-2 | 200 |
| Trains Clerk | 2 | Rs 19,900 | A-3 | 188 |
| Total | 1,688 |
The CEN lists the pay level under the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) and the initial pay above. It does not list allowances such as dearness allowance (DA), so we do not estimate in-hand pay here. During any training period, only a stipend is paid (paragraph 1.16).
| Group | Seats |
|---|---|
| Unreserved (UR) | 686 |
| Other Backward Classes, Non-Creamy Layer (OBC) | 414 |
| Scheduled Castes (SC) | 258 |
| Scheduled Tribes (ST) | 167 |
| Economically Weaker Section (EWS) | 163 |
| Ex-servicemen (counted within the above) | 162 |
| Disabled candidates (counted within the above) | 112 |
The 112 disability seats are our sum of the five disability columns on page 40. They are 21 for visually impaired, 37 for hearing impaired and 39 for those with a movement disability. Another 15 are for multiple disabilities, and none for “other disability”. All these figures are provisional, and the Railways may raise or cut them.
Where the 1,688 seats sit: Kolkata has 329, Muzaffarpur seven
| RRB | Seats | RRB | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kolkata | 329 | Gorakhpur | 72 |
| Chennai | 168 | Secunderabad | 72 |
| Prayagraj | 149 | Bhopal | 59 |
| Mumbai | 140 | Jammu-Srinagar | 51 |
| Ajmer | 124 | Guwahati | 49 |
| Chandigarh | 78 | Bengaluru | 45 |
| Ranchi | 75 | Patna | 43 |
| Thiruvananthapuram | 75 | Siliguri | 43 |
| Bhubaneswar | 40 | Malda | 23 |
| Ahmedabad | 26 | Bilaspur | 20 |
| Muzaffarpur | 7 | Total | 1,688 |
A candidate picks one RRB for the whole CEN and cannot switch later. Inside that board’s list you put zones and posts in order of choice; any post left unmarked is treated as not wanted. Sending a second form, to any board, gets every form rejected and bars you from later RRB and RRC exams.
The board you pick also fixes where you work for years. Under paragraph 1.15, a request to shift to another railway is not even registered before 5 to 10 years of service. The CEN asks candidates to choose their RRB “with due care and consideration”.
50% in Class 12, unless you are SC, ST, disabled, an ex-serviceman or hold a higher qualification
Annexure A (page 32) asks for Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent with at least 50% marks in total. That 50% figure is waived for SC, ST, disabled candidates, ex-servicemen and anyone qualified above Class 12. On that wording, a graduate with 45% in Class 12 would meet the rule, though the CEN does not spell out this example.
The result must be out by 13 November 2026; those still waiting for it “should not apply” (paragraph 6.0). If your certificate carries a later issue date, keep the mark sheet that shows when the result was declared.
Born 1997 to 2009, or from 1992 if SC or ST
| Category | Earliest birth date | Latest birth date |
|---|---|---|
| UR, EWS | 2 January 1997 | 1 January 2009 |
| OBC | 2 January 1994 | 1 January 2009 |
| SC, ST | 2 January 1992 | 1 January 2009 |
Paragraph 5.2 gives more years to some groups:
- Disabled candidates: 10, 13 or 15 years, by category.
- Ex-servicemen: 3, 6 or 8 years after their service is deducted.
- Serving railway staff in Group C or erstwhile Group D posts, and substitutes (temporary staff), need at least three years’ service. Their upper limit is 40 (UR, EWS), 43 (OBC) or 45 (SC, ST).
- Women who are widowed, divorced or legally separated and have not remarried: upper limit 35, 38 or 40.
Relaxations do not add up; you get the biggest one you qualify for. SC, ST and OBC candidates applying against Unreserved vacancies get no age relaxation, but disabled candidates there still get the disabled (UR) relaxation.
800 Junior and Accounts Clerk Cum Typist posts: typing checked only after you join
For this CEN, paragraph 13(c) removes the computer typing test for Junior Clerk Cum Typist and Accounts Clerk Cum Typist. All four posts are filled through two computer-based tests (CBTs), then document verification (DV) and a medical exam.
Typing has not disappeared from the job. The CEN expects basic computer skills, including adequate typing on a computer, and says this will be assessed after joining. A weak result there could hold back your confirmation or promotion.
Trains Clerk needs 6/9 eyesight and no eye surgery
Trains Clerk is the only post here at medical standard A-3. Each eye must see 6/9 at a distance, with or without glasses of up to 2 dioptres (a mild power). Reading vision and tests for colour, night, binocular and short-sight vision also apply. Anyone who has had Lasik (laser eye surgery) or any other surgery to fix eyesight cannot take an A-3 post (paragraph 3.0(b)).
B-2 and C-2 are less strict eyesight standards (page 8). Lasik does not bar the two C-2 clerk posts. For Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk (B-2), Annexure VII(A) on page 56 allows it only under conditions, such as surgery done at least a year earlier, with a certificate. If you are found medically unfit for the posts you opted for, no other post is offered (paragraph 3.0(f)). You may be offered one paid medical appeal (paragraph 3.0(g)).
CBT-1 screens 15 per seat; CBT-2 marks decide
| Test | General Awareness | Mathematics | Reasoning | Questions | Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CBT-1 | 40 | 30 | 30 | 100 | 90 |
| CBT-2 | 50 | 35 | 35 | 120 | 90 |
The section split is indicative and may vary a little (page 20). Every question is worth 1 mark, and each wrong answer takes away 1/3 mark. A candidate allowed a scribe (a person who writes the answers) gets 120 minutes. To qualify you need 40% if you are UR or EWS, 30% if OBC or SC, and 25% if ST.
CBT-1 only filters. Using normalised CBT-1 marks, which adjust for different shifts, each board calls 15 candidates per vacancy in each category to CBT-2. The Railways may change that multiple. After CBT-2, one candidate per vacancy is called for DV. On equal marks, the elder candidate goes higher; if the age is also equal, the given name (not the surname) in A to Z order decides.
Rs 250 fee for women, SC, ST, ex-servicemen, disabled and transgender candidates, minorities and EBC
Applicants outside the concession groups pay Rs 500 and get Rs 400 back, less bank charges, after they sit CBT-1. A Rs 250 fee applies to SC, ST, ex-servicemen, disabled candidates, women, transgender candidates, minorities and the Economically Backward Class (EBC). Their Rs 250 comes back, less bank charges, after CBT-1.
EBC in this CEN means a family earning under Rs 50,000 a year. Proof can be an income certificate in the CEN’s format or a below poverty line (BPL) card. An Izzat MST (the railways’ concession season ticket) or a certificate under a central poverty programme also counts. The proof must be dated on or before 13 November 2026. EBC only lowers the fee; unlike EWS or OBC, it reserves no seat.
Refunds go only to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account, meaning one linked to your Aadhaar. Applicants without a bank account may give the Aadhaar-linked account of a family member (paragraph 7.4).
One account since 2024, locked details and the 16 to 25 November edits
- Sign in on the unified RRB website. Anyone who opened an account for an RRB CEN in 2024, 2025 or 2026 must reuse it. Its details, including the mobile number and e-mail, stay fixed forever.
- Confirm your identity through Aadhaar or DigiLocker (the government’s document app). Using any other photo ID brings tighter checks at each stage.
- Pick the RRB, rank zones and posts, and choose the exam language: English, Hindi or a regional language from the list of 13.
- Let the portal take a live photo against a plain white background. Wear non-white, preferably dark, clothes, with no cap, mask or spectacles.
- Use a black pen on a white sheet, write your signature joined up (not in capitals), and upload it as a JPG of 30 to 49 KB.
- Pay through net banking, a card or UPI, by 15 November 2026.
The edit window runs from 16 to 25 November 2026, at a non-refundable Rs 250 for each edit; the account details and the RRB stay locked. Treat your zone and post order as final too: page 5 says options once exercised will not be changed. Anyone who moves into a category that pays the full fee also pays the extra Rs 250. Government and railway employees may apply directly after telling their employer, and must bring a No Objection Certificate to DV.
CEN 06/2026 for graduates, and more Class 12 railway jobs
If you also hold a degree, the RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 recruitment under CEN 06/2026 is a separate notice with its own form dates. More openings are listed under railway recruitment, 12th pass government jobs and all-India government jobs.
