RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 Vacancy: Goods Train Manager, Clerk and Ticket Supervisor Posts
On this page
The RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 notification (CEN No. 06/2026) offers 3,548 posts in four railway jobs for degree holders. The online form runs from 8 October to 6 November 2026 (until 11:59 PM), and the fee can be paid until 8 November. Any graduate aged 18 to 33 on 1 January 2027 can apply, with the usual extra years for reserved groups. Your degree result must be out by 6 November 2026. Most of the posts (2,750) are for Goods Train Manager, a job with a strict eyesight rule.
RRB NTPC Graduate 2026: Goods Train Manager, two clerk posts and Ticket Supervisor
NTPC stands for Non-Technical Popular Categories. These are office and operations jobs, not engineering jobs. All four posts in CEN 06/2026 ask for the same qualification: a degree from a recognised university, or its equivalent (Annexure A, page 30).
Pay Level is a level in the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix, and it fixes your starting pay. The notice gives only this initial pay for each post, so this page does not estimate take-home salary.
| Post | Pay Level | Initial pay | Medical standard | Posts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor | 6 | Rs 35,400 | B-2 | 127 |
| Goods Train Manager | 5 | Rs 29,200 | A-2 | 2,750 |
| Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist | 5 | Rs 29,200 | C-2 | 300 |
| Senior Clerk cum Typist | 5 | Rs 29,200 | C-2 | 371 |
| Total | 3,548 |
The notice calls these numbers provisional. Railways may raise or cut them later and publish a revised table (pages 7 and 8).
Across all four posts, the split by category is 1,517 unreserved (UR), 553 SC, 300 ST, 873 OBC (non-creamy layer) and 305 EWS. Within these, 351 posts are kept for ex-servicemen. These figures come from the “All RRBs Grand Total” row on page 37, and they add up to 3,548.
Bilaspur to Ahmedabad: CEN 06/2026 seats in each of the 21 RRBs
You can apply to only one RRB. Inside that RRB, you rank the railway zones and posts you want. If you leave a post out, the board treats it as “not willing” for that post (page 5). A second application, to the same RRB or another one, gets every application rejected. It also leads to disqualification and a ban from all future exams of the RRBs and the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs).
The choice also decides where you will work. The notice says a request for transfer to another railway is not even registered until you have served at least 5 to 10 years (page 7). So pick the RRB whose zones you are willing to live in.
| RRB | Ticket Supervisor | Goods Train Manager | Junior Accounts Asst. | Senior Clerk | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bilaspur | 1 | 526 | 14 | 1 | 542 |
| Ranchi | 6 | 360 | 0 | 11 | 377 |
| Bengaluru | 3 | 301 | 10 | 32 | 346 |
| Kolkata | 7 | 177 | 76 | 72 | 332 |
| Ajmer | 4 | 236 | 35 | 29 | 304 |
| Siliguri | 5 | 281 | 0 | 5 | 291 |
| Prayagraj | 42 | 196 | 0 | 27 | 265 |
| Bhopal | 2 | 135 | 12 | 8 | 157 |
| Mumbai | 16 | 81 | 37 | 21 | 155 |
| Bhubaneswar | 1 | 128 | 7 | 10 | 146 |
| Chennai | 6 | 72 | 20 | 43 | 141 |
| Guwahati | 18 | 45 | 30 | 11 | 104 |
| Muzaffarpur | 0 | 73 | 0 | 5 | 78 |
| Jammu-Srinagar | 2 | 32 | 13 | 19 | 66 |
| Chandigarh | 0 | 6 | 25 | 28 | 59 |
| Secunderabad | 10 | 31 | 5 | 10 | 56 |
| Gorakhpur | 3 | 13 | 1 | 13 | 30 |
| Patna | 0 | 5 | 15 | 9 | 29 |
| Malda | 0 | 17 | 0 | 9 | 26 |
| Thiruvananthapuram | 1 | 21 | 0 | 3 | 25 |
| Ahmedabad | 0 | 14 | 0 | 5 | 19 |
| Total | 127 | 2,750 | 300 | 371 | 3,548 |
Two things stand out. Bilaspur alone has 542 posts, almost all of them Goods Train Manager. Prayagraj has 42 of the 127 Ticket Supervisor posts. If you want a desk job as an accounts assistant, look at Kolkata, Mumbai, Ajmer or Guwahati, because several RRBs have no Junior Accounts Assistant post at all. The category split for each zone is in Annexure B (pages 31 to 37).
Glasses, LASIK and the 2,750 Goods Train Manager posts
Every post has a medical standard, checked at a medical test after document verification. If you fail it for a post, you are not considered for that post, and the railway will not offer you another job instead (pages 5 and 8). The notice says you may be offered one final medical appeal, on payment of a charge and subject to conditions.
- A-2 (Goods Train Manager): distant vision of 6/9 in each eye without glasses, and near vision Sn 0.6 in each eye without glasses. You must also pass colour vision, binocular vision, night vision and myopic vision tests.
- B-2 (Ticket Supervisor): 6/9 and 6/12 with or without glasses, with lens power not above 4D.
- C-2 (Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk): distant vision “6/12, nil”, with or without glasses, and near vision Sn 0.6 combined.
LASIK or any other surgery to correct eyesight makes you ineligible for the A-2 post, so it rules out Goods Train Manager (page 8). After such surgery you can still be fit for the B-2 and C-2 posts. For B-2, the Railway Board letter of 25 August 2022 sets six conditions (page 53). Among them, the surgery must be at least one year old, with a certificate from the hospital that did it. The corneal thickness left must be at least 425 microns. There must be no complications, a normal fundus, no progressive eye disease, and vision as the railway medical manual requires.
The Goods Train Manager post is also not open to any category of persons with benchmark disability (PwBD), as Annexure A shows “No” in every column. The other three posts are open to some types of disability, listed post-wise on page 30.
In practice: if you wear glasses or had LASIK, do not give Goods Train Manager a high preference. Put your effort into the 798 other posts instead.
CEN 06/2026 drops the typing test for the two “cum Typist” clerk posts
For CEN 06/2026, the board has dropped the computer typing test for the two clerk posts with “Typist” in the name. Page 19 says the Computer Based Typing Skill Test for Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist “has been dispensed with for CEN No. 06/2026”.
The same paragraph says your typing on a computer will be checked after you join. A poor result “may affect/delay” your confirmation or promotion. If you read elsewhere that this notice has a typing test, go by page 19.
Date of birth limits for CEN 06/2026, category by category
The age limit is 18 to 33 years on 1 January 2027 for all four posts. The notice turns this into birth dates, and both dates count (page 9).
| Category | Born on or after | Born on or before |
|---|---|---|
| UR and EWS | 2 January 1994 | 1 January 2009 |
| OBC (non-creamy layer) | 2 January 1991 | 1 January 2009 |
| SC and ST | 2 January 1989 | 1 January 2009 |
Other relaxations on page 9:
- Persons with benchmark disability: 10 years (UR and EWS), 13 years (OBC) and 15 years (SC and ST).
- Ex-servicemen with at least six months of continuous service after attestation: 3, 6 or 8 years by category, after deducting your service from your age.
- Serving railway staff in Group C or the old Group D, and substitutes, with 3 or more years of service: up to age 40, 43 or 45 by category.
- Widowed, divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried: up to age 35, 38 or 40 by category.
You get only the single largest relaxation, not two added together. An SC, ST or OBC candidate who applies against an unreserved post gets no age relaxation. Your date of birth must match your 10th class certificate.
Final-year students and the CEN 06/2026 degree rule
You must already have the degree on the closing date, 6 November 2026. Final-year students waiting for results are “NOT eligible to apply” (pages 4 and 6). The same degree rule applies to all four posts. The notice sets no subject and no minimum percentage.
At document verification (DV), the board checks your original papers. If your degree certificate is dated after 6 November, bring the final marks sheet that shows the result date. If none of your papers shows that date, bring a letter from your university that gives it (page 10).
CEN 06/2026 fee refund goes to your Aadhaar-linked bank account
| Who | Fee | Refund if you sit the first computer based test (CBT) |
|---|---|---|
| Most candidates | Rs 500 | Rs 400, less bank charges |
| SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender, minorities and Economically Backward Class (EBC) | Rs 250 | Rs 250, less bank charges |
You pay online only, by net banking, card or UPI (page 10). The refund goes to the bank account linked to your Aadhaar. During the form you confirm that account. If none is linked, the portal sends you to the NPCI site to link one. If you have no bank account, you may give a family member’s Aadhaar-linked account (page 11).
EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS. It means a family income below Rs 50,000 a year, and it only lowers the fee. It gives no reserved post. As proof, you need one of these: the EBC income certificate in the notice’s format, a BPL card, an Izzat MST or a central poverty-scheme certificate. It must be issued on or before 6 November 2026 (pages 10 and 11). Minority candidates who pay Rs 250 must bring an affidavit at DV (Annexure IV).
CBT-1 and CBT-2 for CEN 06/2026: 100 and 120 questions
A CBT is a computer based test taken at an exam centre. Selection has three stages: the first CBT, the second CBT, then DV and a medical test (page 19).
| Stage | Time | Questions | General Awareness | Maths | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| First CBT | 90 minutes | 100 | 40 | 30 | 30 |
| Second CBT | 90 minutes | 120 | 50 | 35 | 35 |
- Each wrong answer costs 1/3 mark in both CBTs. Calculators are not allowed.
- Candidates eligible for a scribe get 120 minutes per CBT.
- The first CBT only screens you. Candidates equal to 15 times the vacancies in each category of your RRB move to the second CBT, though Railways can change that number (page 20).
- Your second CBT marks decide who is called for DV, one candidate per vacancy.
- Minimum marks in each CBT: 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC and SC, 25% for ST.
- On equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher.
You can take the test in English, Hindi or one of 13 regional languages, from Assamese to Urdu. The question appears in your chosen language and in English (page 22). The general awareness syllabus includes science up to the 10th CBSE level, basic computers and “Transport Systems in India”.
CBT dates are not in the notice. The board says it will publish them on the RRB website. You get the exam city about 10 days before and the e-call letter about 4 days before (page 27).
What the CEN 06/2026 portal asks for: a webcam photo and a 30-49 KB signature
- Go to rrbapply.gov.in. If you made an account for any RRB notice of 2024, 2025 or 2026, log in with it. Otherwise use “Create an Account”.
- Fill the account form with care. Your name, date of birth, mobile number and email can never be changed after this step.
- Verify your identity with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. The notice warns that other photo IDs face “significantly stricter” checks at every stage (page 21).
- Choose one RRB, then rank your zone and post preferences.
- Take the live photo when the portal asks. You do not upload an old photo.
- Upload your signature and, if you want the free train pass, your SC or ST certificate.
- Pay the fee and wait for the confirmation SMS and email. Your form counts only after the payment goes through.
The live photo rules on pages 22 and 23 are strict:
- Plain white background. Wear non-white clothes, preferably plain and dark.
- No cap, mask or spectacles. Eyes fully open. Your head should fill at least half the photo.
- Never photograph a printed or on-screen picture. The form will be rejected.
For the signature (page 23), sign in black ink on white paper, in running handwriting. A signature in capital or block letters is a ground for rejection. Scan it at 100 DPI or more as a JPG of 30 KB to 49 KB, at least 140 by 60 pixels. An SC or ST certificate for the free pass must be a PDF under 400 KB.
You will also need proof of your present address at DV, such as a rent agreement, electricity bill or bank passbook (page 24). If you have none, update your Aadhaar address now.
CEN 06/2026 correction window: 9 to 18 November 2026
After the form closes, you can still edit most details from 9 to 18 November 2026. Each edit costs Rs 250, which is not refunded, and you can edit as many times as you need (pages 26 and 27). Two things stay locked: the “Create an Account” details and the RRB you chose.
If an edit moves you to the Rs 500 fee group, you also pay the Rs 250 difference. Examples are a switch from SC or ST to UR, OBC or EWS, or from “Female” to “Male”. After 18 November 2026, the board will not accept any change.
What CEN 06/2026 does not tell you yet
- The dates of the first and second CBT.
- Take-home salary. The notice gives only the initial pay of each Pay Level, so we have not estimated it.
- Any later change to the vacancy table. The notice says a revised table will be published if numbers change.
For help with the form, the RRB helpline is rrb.help@csc.gov.in or 9592001188 / 0172-5653333, from 10 AM to 5 PM on working days (page 8).
Paperwork worth sorting out early for CEN 06/2026
- Check your eyesight against the A-2 standard before you rank Goods Train Manager first.
- If you are OBC, get a non-creamy layer certificate issued between 1 April and 6 November 2026. If you are EWS, get an income and asset certificate for 2025-26 that is valid on 6 November 2026 (pages 12 and 13).
- Link your Aadhaar to a working bank account so the fee refund can reach you.
The Paramedical notice from the same boards is on our RRB Paramedical CEN 05/2026 page. Graduates can also look at the Supreme Court Junior Court Assistant 2026 recruitment. For more, browse our lists of railway recruitments, jobs for graduates and government jobs open across India.
