The Airports Authority of India is taking on 95 apprentices in the North East, with a monthly stipend that reaches 15,000 rupees and no application fee at all. Two conditions define it, though: you must be from one of the seven North Eastern states it covers, and it is one year of apprenticeship training, not a permanent AAI job. AAI North Eastern Region Apprentice 2026-27 is open until 28 July 2026, and here is how it works.

Read from the official notification (verified 12 July 2026). Airports Authority of India, Regional Headquarters (North Eastern Region), Guwahati, Advertisement No. 01/2026/Apprentice, for engagement of Graduate, Diploma and Trade (ITI) apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, dated 7 July 2026. Seats, stipend, eligibility and process below are taken from the official PDF on aai.aero.

For the North East Only, and Not a Permanent Job

Two upfront points decide whether this is for you. First, eligibility is limited to Indian nationals from the North Eastern Region, and the notification names seven states: Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. If you are not domiciled in one of these, this engagement is not open to you. Second, this is apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the notification states plainly that AAI has no obligation to give regular employment and that apprentices have no right to claim a job from AAI on the basis of this training. So treat it as what it is: a paid, one-year training placement inside a central aviation body, valuable for the experience and the stipend, but not a permanent government post and not a route that guarantees one.

95 Seats: Graduate, Diploma and ITI

The seats are split across three apprentice types and the engineering streams within them:

Stream Graduate Diploma Trade (ITI)
Civil 8 10 0
Electrical 10 10 0
Electronics / IT / Computer Science 10 6 0
Mechanical 3 5 0
Fitter 0 0 7
Motor Vehicle Mechanic 0 0 12
Electrician 0 0 14
Total 31 31 33

The notification notes these counts are tentative and may be reduced or increased, and reservation for SC, ST, OBC and EWS applies.

Who Can Apply

  • Graduate Apprentice: a full-time 4-year engineering degree (BE or BTech) in Civil, Electrical, Electronics/IT/Computer Science or Mechanical. This is an engineering-degree post, not any graduate degree.
  • Diploma Apprentice: a full-time 3-year engineering diploma in the same streams.
  • Trade Apprentice: an ITI (NCVT) certificate in Fitter, Motor Vehicle Mechanic or Electrician.
  • Recency and bars: you must have passed the qualifying degree or diploma in 2024 or later. Candidates who have already done or are doing an apprenticeship, or who have a year or more of experience after the qualifying course, are not eligible.
  • Age: 18 to 26 years as on 28 July 2026, with relaxations for reserved categories.

You may apply for only one discipline; applying for more than one leads to rejection.

Stipend: 9,600 to 15,000 a Month

The stipend is fixed by apprentice type: ₹15,000 a month for Graduate apprentices, ₹12,000 for Diploma apprentices and ₹9,600 for Trade (ITI) apprentices. For the Graduate and Diploma stipends, part of the amount comes as a government share credited directly to you and the rest from AAI. These are the official figures from the notification, and they are higher than the amounts some job sites quote, so trust the notification.

No Exam: How Selection Works

There is no written test. Candidates are shortlisted provisionally on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination, so your degree, diploma or ITI marks do the work. Shortlisted candidates are then called, by email only, for an interview and certificate verification, and final selection also requires a medical fitness certificate from a government medical officer at the time of joining. No travel allowance is paid for the interview, and giving any false information cancels your candidature.

How to Apply on NATS or NAPS

  1. Graduate and Diploma apprentices register on the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in.
  2. Trade (ITI) apprentices register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
  3. On the portal, search for the establishment “Airports Authority of India, RHQ NER, Guwahati” and click Apply. It is your responsibility to get your profile verified by the relevant regional board.
  4. Apply before 28 July 2026. Only online applications through NATS or NAPS are considered; there is no other mode and no fee.

Should You Apply?

If you are a recent engineering or ITI pass-out from the North East, this is a solid year: a stipend of ₹9,600 to ₹15,000, real experience at a central aviation body, and no fee or exam to clear, with your marks doing the selecting. Go in clear that it ends as a trained apprentice, not an AAI employee. If you are from outside the seven listed states, this one is not for you. The deadline is 28 July 2026.
