GSRTC Conductor Bharti 2026: 4,318 Posts, Fixed Pay ₹26,000, Apply by 5 July
On this page
The biggest Gujarat recruitment a 12th-pass fresher can enter this season closes this weekend (the parallel Driver recruitment is larger, but it needs a heavy-vehicle licence and four years behind the wheel). GSRTC Conductor Bharti 2026 has 4,318 conductor posts across Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, with the OJAS form open only till 5 July 2026, 11:59 PM. And the detail most job sites missed: you no longer need a conductor licence in hand to apply.
No Conductor Licence Yet? You Can Still Apply
The original advertisement asked for a valid conductor licence and RTO badge. Then GSRTC issued a press note on 17 June making those fields optional in the OJAS form: you may apply now and obtain the conductor licence, badge and first-aid certificate afterwards. The catch is firm, though. At document verification, a valid conductor licence and badge are compulsory, and without them your candidature is rejected. So apply this week, then start the RTO process immediately; the exam date isn’t announced yet, which buys you time.

Fixed Pay ₹26,000: What That Actually Means
This is Gujarat’s fixed-pay system, and it deserves a plain explanation because every aggregator quotes the number without the terms. You work on contract for 5 years at ₹26,000 per month, with no allowances beyond what the rules specifically permit. A performance review at the 2-year mark decides whether you continue. Complete the 5 years satisfactorily and you become eligible for regular appointment on the conductor cadre’s then-current basic pay. The advertisement names no post-regularisation figure, so treat any such number you see elsewhere as a guess. In short: modest but stable money for five years, then a regular government-corporation job.
Who Fits the Bar
- Education: Std 12 (HSC) pass from the Gujarat board or an equivalent. Only two substitutes are accepted, and both need an equivalence certificate from the education board: an NCVT ITI of 2 years or longer after Std 10 plus an English-subject pass from the Gujarat board or Gujarat Open School, or a 3-year polytechnic diploma after Std 10. A provisional 12th result isn’t accepted.
- Computer knowledge: a certificate under the state’s 2008 resolution, any recognised computer diploma/degree, or simply having computer as a subject in Std 10/12. Many candidates already qualify through the school route without realising it.
- Age: 18 to 35 on 5 July 2026 for unreserved men. General women get +5 (to 40), reserved men +5 (40), reserved women +10 (45), PwD candidates +10 to +20 depending on category and gender, ex-servicemen their service period +3. Nobody crosses 45.
- Reservation only for Gujarat natives: SC/ST/SEBC/EWS benefits apply to candidates originally of Gujarat. Others may apply as unreserved.
- Language reality check: the exam paper is in Gujarati (except the English-grammar section). If you can’t read Gujarati comfortably, this exam will be hard regardless of eligibility.
One Paper, One Hour, and the E-Bubble
Selection is a single OMR exam: 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes, Std-12 level. The sections: Gujarat GK and current affairs (20), basic computer usage (20), road safety (10), Gujarati grammar (10), English grammar (10), maths and reasoning (10), GSRTC and ticket-fare arithmetic (10), Motor Vehicles Act, first aid and conductor duties (10).
The marking rule to burn into memory: minus 0.25 for a wrong answer, and also for a blank or badly marked answer. The only safe way to skip a question is darkening option “E” (not attempting). GSRTC’s OMR punishes silence, not just mistakes. Two honest bonuses exist: unremarried widows get 5% of their obtained marks added, and so do certified sportspersons who have represented at national/international level, inter-university competitions or the All India School Games.
After the exam, document verification is called at 1.5 candidates per post by merit, and a waiting list of 20% of posts stays valid for up to two years.
OJAS Form, Step by Step
- On ojas.gujarat.gov.in, open Apply Online and pick the Conductor listing.
- Fill personal, education and computer-knowledge details; save and note your Application Number.
- Upload your photo (5cm x 3.6cm) and signature (2.5cm x 7.5cm), each a JPG of 10 KB or less. Compress your files beforehand; this tiny limit is where most forms fail.
- Confirm the application with your application number and date of birth. An unconfirmed form doesn’t count, and if you file multiple forms, only the last confirmed one is considered.
- Pay the fee online (till 7 July) using the confirmation number, and keep a printout.
Weigh It Up
The fixed-pay period asks for patience: ₹26,000 flat for five years is real money in smaller towns and thinner in Ahmedabad or Surat. What you are buying with those five years is a regular GSRTC cadre post at the end, plus the security of a corporation job in between. With 4,318 seats, a single one-hour exam and no physical test, the odds here are among the friendlier ones a 12th-pass candidate will see this year. The form dies on 5 July; the licence can follow later, thanks to the press note.
More from the state is on our Gujarat page, and the live deadline list shows everything closing this week, including RAS 2026 on 3 July.
