Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) has cancelled its Assistant Lineman (ALM) recruitment. The two advertisements, CRA 317/26 (3,289 posts) and CRA 318/26 (3,000 posts), were issued on 7 June 2026 for 6,289 posts in total. A PSPCL public notice dated 15 June 2026 cancelled both with immediate effect. These field posts were meant for ITI-qualified and NAC-Lineman candidates. PSPCL ALM 6,289 posts: what the cancelled CRA 317/26 and 318/26 covered
PSPCL had issued two parallel notifications for the same Assistant Lineman role, each for a different trade certificate. Both were cancelled on 15 June 2026. Here is what they said.

Matric, trade certificate and Punjabi: who PSPCL would have accepted for ALM
Under the cancelled advertisements, candidates needed three things in place by the last date. First, you must have passed Matriculation (10th) or an equivalent exam. Second, you need the relevant trade certificate: a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the Lineman trade for CRA 317/26, or an ITI certificate in the Electrician or Wireman trade for CRA 318/26. Third, you must have passed Punjabi at least to Matriculation standard, which PSPCL treats as a hard filter. Age is 18 to 37 years, and the relaxation is category-specific: 5 years for Scheduled Caste and Backward Class candidates, 10 years for Persons with Disability (PwD), and for ex-servicemen the period of service already rendered plus 3 more years. So do not assume a flat 10 years, because an SC or BC applicant gets 5 years, not 10.
Rs 19,900 basic pay and the 3-year probation for PSPCL Linemen
The advertised basic pay was Rs 19,900 per month for the 3-year probation period. The advertisements said that during probation only this minimum pay would be paid, with no grade pay, dearness allowance or annual increment, and no allowance except travelling allowance and medical reimbursement.
The 150-question, two-part online test PSPCL had planned for Assistant Linemen
Under the cancelled advertisements, shortlisting was to run through a single online objective test of 150 questions in total, split into two parts, completed in a 3-hour window, and with no negative marking. Part-I has 50 Punjabi language questions and is purely qualifying: you must score at least 50% (25 marks) to move ahead, but these marks do not count towards your merit. Part-II carries the 100 questions that actually decide selection: 50 on your technical trade (Lineman, or Electrician and Wireman), 20 more on Punjabi, 10 on General Knowledge, 10 on Reasoning and 10 on Arithmetic. To stay in contention you must also clear the Part-II minimum qualifying marks, which are 25% for General candidates and 20% for reserved-category candidates. The final category-wise merit list was to be prepared on Part-II marks only. After the test, shortlisted candidates were to be called for document verification. PSPCL could then send selected CRA 318/26 candidates for 6 months of classroom and on-the-job training, and selected CRA 317/26 candidates for on-the-job training under its rules.
Which trade each advertisement covered: CRA 317/26 versus CRA 318/26
CRA 317 and CRA 318 were two separate advertisements, with separate forms and separate deadlines. PSPCL cancelled both on 15 June 2026, so none of the dates below apply now. CRA 317/26 was for NAC-Lineman holders, with registration set for 15 June to 6 July 2026 and fee deposit up to 10 July.
