JKSSB MTS Recruitment 2026 covers 2,863 posts across Jammu and Kashmir under Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026. Of these, 2,697 are Class-IV (MTS, or Multi-Tasking Staff) posts and 166 are Sanitation Worker posts. After a corrigendum, the online form runs from 14 October to 12 November 2026 (until 11:59 PM). Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir can apply. MTS posts need a Matric pass and Sanitation Worker posts need an 8th pass. For both, the highest qualification allowed is 10+2.

JKSSB papers read for this page: Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026 dated 1 September 2026 (32 pages, No. JKSSB-PLAN/17/2025-06). We also read the scanned 8-page corrigendum of 1 October 2026 and the instructions notice of 9 October 2026. The corrigendum tables were read from the page images and added up. All three are on the JKSSB website. On 13 October 2026 the JKSSB website showed no corrigendum or date extension for Advt 09 of 2026 after these three papers.

Fresh JKSSB MTS Recruitment 2026 dates after the 1 October corrigendum

The advertisement first gave 5 October to 3 November 2026 as the form window. Summaries written before 1 October may still show those dates. The corrigendum of 1 October 2026 replaced them with fresh dates, and the 9 October instructions notice repeats them.

Step Date
Advertisement issued 1 September 2026
Corrigendum with fresh dates 1 October 2026
Online form and fee open 14 October 2026, 12:00 AM
Last date for the form and the fee 12 November 2026, 11:59 PM
Written test date Not announced as of 12 October 2026

The fee must also be paid by 11:59 PM on 12 November 2026. A form without a paid fee counts as incomplete. The corrigendum says all other terms of the advertisement stay the same.

Public Works (R&B) takes 1,420 of the 2,863 JKSSB Class-IV posts

Each post belongs to one of three cadres: UT (Union Territory), divisional (Jammu division or Kashmir division) or district. JKSSB allots cadres and departments by merit and the preferences you give.

Cadre Posts
UT cadre 105
Jammu division 1,093
Kashmir division 897
District cadre (20 districts) 768
Total 2,863

The item numbers below are the new ones from the corrigendum. One department takes almost half the posts. Public Works (R&B) needs 939 MTS in Jammu division (item 196) and 481 MTS in Kashmir division (item 210). Next comes Floriculture, Gardens and Parks in Kashmir division, with 199 MTS posts (item 207). Estates Department Sanitation Workers in the UT cadre follow with 73 (item 183).

All 166 Sanitation Worker posts are in the UT and divisional cadres. They sit mainly in the Estates Department: 73 in the UT cadre, 48 in Jammu division and 37 in Kashmir division. The district cadre has MTS posts only, all in the Agriculture Production department (including its Horticulture and Sericulture wings) and the Animal/Sheep Husbandry department. Baramulla has the most (75), then Jammu (65) and Anantnag (59). Ramban (9) and Shopian (10) have the fewest.

The category totals are: Open Merit (OM) 1,178, SC 246, ST-1 293, ST-2 286, OBC 221, ALC/IB 115, RBA 271 and EWS 253. RBA means Residents of Backward Areas. ALC/IB means residents of areas next to the Line of Actual Control or the International Border. The advertisement warns that the number of posts may go up or down before the final list.

The corrigendum also renumbered the items. Each post row now has its own item number, from 182 to 264. So a department with both MTS and Sanitation Worker posts in one cadre has two items. Comparing the two tables row by row, the post counts are the same. When you pick items on the portal, check them against the corrigendum’s numbers.

Matric to 10+2 only: the qualification cap in Advt 09 of 2026

This drive sets both a lowest and a highest qualification:

  • Class-IV (MTS): at least Matric (10th pass) and at most 10+2, under S.O. 184 of 2020 and SRO 99 of 2008.
  • Sanitation Worker: at least 8th pass and at most 10+2, under S.O. 132 of 2022.

Clause 5(f) says a candidate with any qualification other than the one prescribed is not eligible. Their form can be rejected at any stage. So a graduate should not apply for these posts. You must hold the qualification by the cut-off date. Did you study outside J&K at an institution that is not a Central University? Then you also need a Bonafide Certificate in the Board’s format at Document Verification (DV). DV is the stage where officials check your original papers.

JKSSB age bands of 40, 42 and 43, and the J&K domicile rule

JKSSB counts your age on 1 January 2026. Everyone must be born on or before 1 January 2008.

Category Upper age limit Born between (both dates included)
Open Merit (OM) 40 1 January 1986 and 1 January 2008
SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS, OBC 43 1 January 1983 and 1 January 2008
Physically Challenged Person 42 1 January 1984 and 1 January 2008

Ex-servicemen may subtract their years in the Armed Forces from their age. They still qualify if the result is no more than 3 years above the limit. Candidates who claim bonus points as casual workers get 5 more years in the upper age limit.

You must be a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. You need a valid Domicile Certificate in the prescribed format, issued on or before the cut-off date. Candidates from other states cannot apply.

JKSSB Advt 09 fee: the Rs 500 rate leaves out OBC, RBA and ALC/IB

The fee is Rs 600. It drops to Rs 500 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities). OBC, RBA and ALC/IB candidates are not in the Rs 500 list, so they pay Rs 600. You can pay by net banking, UPI or a bank card (debit or credit). After paying, check that your dashboard shows the fee as “Submitted”.

The fee is not refunded in any case. It also cannot be moved to another exam. If you pay more than the fee, for example twice, ask for the extra amount back through the grievance e-mail, ssbjk-grievance@jk.gov.in. Do not ask your bank to reverse the payment (a chargeback). JKSSB will not accept it.

85, 80 or 75 test marks out of 100: JKSSB Class-IV merit by cadre

The test is an OMR exam with objective, multiple-choice questions. OMR means you mark answers by filling circles on a sheet. The questions will be in English only. Each wrong answer costs one-fourth of that question’s marks.

As of 12 October 2026, JKSSB had not announced the test date. The advertisement says the exam date, centres and syllabus will be notified separately. It does not give the number of questions, the duration or any qualifying marks. Admit cards come about one week before the exam, on the Board’s website only. None of these were on JKSSB’s What’s New page on 12 October 2026.

Your final merit is out of 100. Part of it comes from the written test and part from extra points under S.O. 184 of 2020. How much each part counts depends on the cadre.

Points for UT cadre Divisional cadre District cadre
Written test 85 80 75
Home division (from your Domicile Certificate) None 5 None
Home district (from your Domicile Certificate) None None 10
No family member ever in government service 5 5 5
Widow, divorced or judicially separated woman, or orphan girl 5 5 5
Casual worker for five years or more 5 5 5
Total 100 100 100

“Family” here means only your spouse, brothers, sisters and parents. Government service includes PSUs, Boards and autonomous bodies owned by the government. A “casual worker” means a daily rated worker or a worker paid from a Hospital Development Fund or local fund. Ad hoc, contractual and consolidated workers also count. You need wage proof for at least five years, counted on the last date of the online form. A District or Divisional Head of Office must countersign it.

The home division and home district points come from your Domicile Certificate. Each other claim needs its own certificate at DV. A Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Additional Commissioner or Additional Deputy Commissioner verifies the family claim. A Tehsildar issues the certificate for widows, divorced women and orphan girls. Without the certificate, you are judged without the extra points.

The 10 home-district points can matter in district posts. If you apply for a district post outside your home district, you start 10 points behind candidates whose Domicile Certificate shows that district.

Live face capture and other steps on the JKSSB portal

The 9 October notice changes one common habit. You cannot upload a saved photo for this advertisement. The portal takes a live picture of your face through your device camera. A form cannot be submitted until this face check succeeds.

  1. Open jkssb.nic.in and click “Log-in (Apply on Various Posts)”. New users click “New User / Sign Up”.
  2. Register with a working e-mail ID and mobile number. Verify the e-mail with the OTP. If the code does not arrive, use “Get Activation Code”.
  3. Log in with your username, not your e-mail ID.
  4. Fill in the OTR (One-Time Registration) form. Then open the “Active Advertisement” tab and click “Apply”.
  5. Write your name, date of birth and parents’ names exactly as on your Matric certificate.
  6. Fill in every field and click “SAVE & CONTINUE”.
  7. Complete the live face capture and upload your signature. The signature file must be 10 KB to 20 KB, sized 1.5 cm high by 3.5 cm wide.
  8. Check the whole form and submit it. A “Pay Now” link then appears for the fee. Keep a printout of the form for DV.

In the form you also choose your items and give cadre and department preferences. MTS items and Sanitation Worker items take separate preferences.

For the face capture, use the latest Chrome, Edge or Firefox with a working webcam or phone camera. Sit in even light, with no bright window behind you. Look straight at the camera, with only your face in the frame. Do not wear a mask, cap, helmet or dark glasses. Do not refresh the page during capture. You can retry if the check fails.

A blurred photo or signature leads to rejection. Check every entry before the final submit. JKSSB says a submitted form cannot be edited. Preferences stay locked even if an edit option opens later. You may send only one form per item number. If you appear in the exam more than once for the same item, your candidature is cancelled.

Do not post a printed form to the Board. Shortlisted candidates bring it to DV. In-service candidates must send the printout, with the certificate in its last paragraph filled in, through their Head of Department.

Clause 15(b) and the cut-off date for JKSSB certificates

Clause 15(b) on page 9 says your qualification, birth, domicile and category certificates must be valid on or before the cut-off date. It defines the cut-off date as the last date of the online form. Page 1 of the advertisement also labels the last date as the “Cut-off/Last Date”. The corrigendum moved the last date to 12 November 2026, so on a plain reading the cut-off is now 12 November 2026. The corrigendum does not say this in words, and clause 2 still prints 3 November 2026 “unless otherwise extended”. If any certificate of yours is dated between 4 and 12 November, you may want to confirm with JKSSB at ssbjk-grievance@jk.gov.in.

  • Birth certificate, your Matric certificate (or the 8th pass certificate for Sanitation Worker applicants without Matric) and your highest pass certificate, which must not be above 10+2.
  • J&K Domicile Certificate in the prescribed format.
  • Category certificate in the format set by the J&K Reservation Act or Rules, if you claim a reserved category. A certificate in any other format is rejected.
  • Certificates for any bonus points you claim (see the table above).
  • Ex-servicemen: Form-XIV certificate, and an affidavit sworn before a 1st Class Judicial Magistrate. The affidavit states that you have not already joined a post using ex-servicemen reservation.
  • PwBD candidates who need a scribe or extra time: the medical certificate in Annexure B and the undertaking in Annexure C. The extra time is 20 minutes per hour of the exam. You must bring your own scribe.

On exam day, carry your admit card and an original photo ID such as Aadhaar or a voter card. Also carry two passport-size colour photos, not older than six months, with the date mentioned on them. By applying, you agree to frisking, metal detector checks, biometrics, face recognition and Aadhaar authentication. No travel allowance is paid for the test or DV.

SL1 pay of Rs 14,800 to Rs 47,100 and the JKSSB helpdesk numbers

The pay scale is SL1, which the notice gives as Rs 14,800 to Rs 47,100. This is basic pay before allowances. The notice does not give DA (Dearness Allowance) or other allowances, so we have not estimated in-hand pay.

For help with the form, JKSSB lists the e-mail ssbjk-grievance@jk.gov.in and the helpdesk numbers 0191-2461335 (Jammu) and 0194-2435089 (Srinagar). The NIC helpdesk number is 9107706766. The full papers are the Advertisement No. 09 of 2026 (PDF), the 1 October corrigendum (PDF) and the 9 October instructions notice (PDF).

The earlier JKSSB Advt 04/2026 drive for ITI, diploma and graduate posts shows how the Board lists items and cadres. For more openings, see Jammu and Kashmir government jobs and state commission and selection board jobs. We also list jobs for 10th pass candidates and jobs for 12th pass candidates. Candidates who were under 27 on 1 June 2026 can also look at the Delhi District Courts Peon posts through DSSSB, which need a 10th pass.
