On this page
HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 arrives as one coordinated drive. If you hold a Master’s in any of these subjects with NET or an equivalent qualification, this is naukritips.com’s first Himachal Pradesh post, and it’s worth reading in full. Applications close 14 July 2026, 11:59 PM.
HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: All 23 Subjects
HPPSC scatters these across 23 separate ticker entries on its own website with no combined list. Here they are together, in advertisement-number order:

Only the Economics roster (10 posts: 5 Unreserved, plus one seat each for HP ex-servicemen, HP disability, HP SC, HP OBC-ex-servicemen and HP EWS) was verified in full from its own PDF. The other 22 subjects carry their own vacancy counts on their individual advertisements, which the notification itself flags as tentative and subject to change. Check the specific subject’s PDF on hppsc.hp.gov.in rather than trust any combined total floating around online, including ours; nobody has published one that’s actually verified.
What “Job Trainee” Actually Means for Your Paycheck
The pay column on the advertisement doesn’t list a UGC pay-matrix level. It reads “Emoluments for Job Trainee: Rs 35,000 per month,” a flat fixed amount under a 2025 Himachal Pradesh government scheme for engaging job trainees. What the PDF does not say is how long the trainee period lasts or what pay-matrix level applies once you’re regularised. Don’t assume Rs 35,000 is your salary for life. It’s the starting trainee stipend; the regularisation terms live in a separate government notification this advertisement only references, not spells out.
The Degree-Plus-NET Bar, and Its Exceptions
The core requirement is a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC, ST, OBC non-creamy-layer and disabled candidates), plus a qualifying NET, SET or equivalent test cleared for Assistant Professor. A grade of B on a 7-point scale counts as meeting the 55% mark.
There are real exceptions worth knowing. Candidates who registered for an M.Phil or PhD before 11 July 2009 can skip NET/SLET/SET entirely, as long as the PhD was awarded in regular mode. That exemption has conditions: the thesis examined by at least two external examiners, defended in an open viva, and backed by at least two published papers and two conference presentations from that research. And if you cleared your State Eligibility Test before 1 June 2002, that clears you for posts anywhere in India; SET cleared after that date only works within the state where you cleared it, which matters if you’re applying to HP with an SET from elsewhere.
Screening, a Subject Paper, Then an Interview
Selection runs in three parts. Paper-I is a one-hour, 100-mark screening test with negative marking (0.25 per wrong or blank answer): 30 marks on Himachal Pradesh GK, 30 on national and international affairs, 20 on Hindi, 20 on English. This stage only decides who advances; a strong pool skips straight past it if the candidate count is thin enough relative to vacancies.
Paper-II is where your subject knowledge counts: a 3-hour, 120-mark descriptive paper on the specific subject’s syllabus, published separately for each of the 23 advertisements. You need 45% here as General category or 40% as reserved category to move forward. The final stage is a 30-mark Personality Test (interview) held at HPPSC’s Shimla office, with a 40%/30% qualifying split by category. Final merit adds Paper-II and the interview together, out of 150, dropping the screening-test score once it has done its job of shortlisting.
One Extension That Doesn’t Apply to You
HPPSC issued a notice on 2 July 2026 extending some Assistant Professor advertisements to 16 July. Read the fine print before you relax: that extension covers only Advt Nos. 13/6-2026 to 19/6-2026, a completely separate batch for Medical Education and Research posts (specialities such as Radiology). The College Cadre batch this post covers, 33/6-2026 through 55/6-2026, is not mentioned anywhere in that extension notice. Its closing date stands at 14 July 2026, exactly as printed on the original advertisement. Don’t let a scraped headline about “HPPSC extends deadline” cost you three days you don’t actually have.
