Class 10 pass, Class 12 pass (with Maths and Physics), ITI and diploma holders can all find a post in the Coast Guard Navik Yantrik 2027 notification. The online form runs on www.ssc.gov.in from 6 October 2026 (11 AM) to 21 October 2026 (5:30 PM). There are four jobs: Navik (General Duty, or GD), Navik (Domestic Branch, or DB), Yantrik and Hygienist-I. The vacancy tables add up to 365 tentative posts in two batches, CGEPT-01/27 and CGEPT-02/27. Women can apply only for Navik (GD).

The paper we worked from: the Indian Coast Guard advertisement for the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT), batches 01/2027 and 02/2027. It runs to 43 pages: 20 in English, followed by the Hindi version. The English version prevails if the two differ. SSC posted the advertisement PDF on the notice board of ssc.gov.in on 6 October 2026. The notice says any corrigendum will appear only on that site. On 7 October 2026 the SSC website showed no corrigendum or date extension for CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027.

Coast Guard Navik Yantrik 2027 posts in each CGEPT batch

Each batch has its own vacancy table. The Coast Guard calls every figure tentative, so the numbers may change. Yantrik posts are only in batch 01/27. Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I posts are only in batch 02/27. Navik (General Duty) is in both.

Batch Post UR EWS OBC SC ST Total
01/27 Navik (GD), men 44 11 36 14 12 117
01/27 Navik (GD), women 8 1 3 1 0 13
01/27 Yantrik (Mechanical) 9 2 5 5 7 28
01/27 Yantrik (Electrical) 10 2 5 3 3 23
01/27 Yantrik (Electronics) 5 0 1 2 1 9
02/27 Navik (GD), men 48 11 36 14 8 117
02/27 Navik (GD), women 5 1 4 2 1 13
02/27 Navik (Domestic Branch) 11 2 7 5 0 25
02/27 Hygienist-I 9 1 5 5 0 20

UR means unreserved (open to all), EWS is the economically weaker section, OBC is other backward classes (non-creamy layer), and SC and ST are scheduled castes and tribes. Batch 01/27 adds up to 190 posts and batch 02/27 to 175. The notice prints no grand total. Its rows add up to 365.

Yantrik, Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I are for men only. Women have 26 Navik (GD) posts in all, 13 in each batch.

No claim on a particular Navik (GD) batch

Selected Navik (GD) candidates go to batch 01/27 or 02/27 by merit, open posts and the Coast Guard’s own needs. You cannot claim a place in a particular batch. If you qualify but miss the final merit list, your result does not carry over to the next batch. You would have to go through selection afresh, provided you meet that batch’s rules.

  • Navik (General Duty): Class 12 pass with Maths and Physics, from a board recognised by COBSE (the Council of Boards for School Education).
  • Navik (Domestic Branch): Class 10 pass from a COBSE-recognised board.
  • Hygienist-I: Matriculation (Class 10), or an ITI certificate, or an equivalent from a board recognised by the Central or State Government.
  • Yantrik: Class 10 pass plus a 3 or 4 year AICTE-approved diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics/Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering. A Class 10 and Class 12 pass with a 2 or 3 year AICTE-approved diploma in the same fields also qualifies.

The notice lists many diploma names it accepts for Yantrik. Some examples are Marine Engineering, Production Engineering, Ship Building Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Automobile) and Electronics (Fibre Optics). Check your exact diploma name against that list on pages 1 and 2 of the notice.

Students from open schools that AICTE or COBSE does not recognise cannot apply. A Yantrik applicant without the original diploma can bring a provisional certificate signed by the college head to Stage-II. The original diploma is a must at Stage-III.

The Coast Guard is an armed force under the Ministry of Defence. Persons with any kind of disability cannot apply. Trainees may not marry or keep family with them during training.

Birth date windows for CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027

The notice gives a birth date range for each post, not an age on a cut-off date. Your date of birth must fall inside the range for your post.

Post Born between
Navik (GD), both batches 1 November 2005 and 1 May 2009
Yantrik, batch 01/27 1 May 2005 and 1 May 2009
Navik (DB), batch 02/27 1 November 2005 and 1 October 2009
Hygienist-I, batch 02/27 1 November 2002 and 1 October 2009

OBC candidates get 3 more years and SC and ST candidates get 5 more years. The notice lists no other age relaxation.

The four ranges are not the same. Only Hygienist-I (men only, Class 10 or ITI) accepts births from 1 November 2002. A man born in 2003 or 2004 falls outside the Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Yantrik ranges but inside this one. Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I accept births up to 1 October 2009. Navik (GD) and Yantrik stop at 1 May 2009.

Zone-wise merit for male Navik GD applicants

Male Navik (GD) posts are split across five zones, each with its own merit list. Your zone comes from your domicile certificate. Every male Navik (GD) applicant must upload a valid domicile certificate with the form. In states that issue both a domicile and a resident certificate, only the domicile certificate is accepted.

  • North: Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh.
  • West: Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
  • East: West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Odisha.
  • South: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep.
  • Central: Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar.

The zone-wise numbers appear on the form during registration. A zone may have no post for your category (SC, ST, OBC or EWS). Then you may still apply as unreserved. But you lose the age relaxation, the lower pass mark, the fee waiver and the travel fare refund.

Navik (GD) posts for women, and all Yantrik, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I posts, are filled on an all-India basis. These applicants upload a domicile certificate only if they want the height relaxation.

One CGEPT post per person, with a Rs 550 fee that is never refunded

The fee is Rs 550, paid online by net banking, card or UPI. Candidates applying against SC or ST vacancies pay no fee. The notice gives no separate waiver for women, so a woman in another category pays Rs 550.

The fee is not refunded under any condition. You may apply for only one post. If you submit more than one form, only the latest one counts. The fee for the earlier forms is lost.

If money leaves your account but the payment fails, the notice asks you to wait 15 working days for the automatic refund. For form problems, the helpdesk is support@parikshasaarthi.in or 7620207872.

From the CGEPT computer test to INS Chilka: what each stage checks

Stage-I: a one-hour computer based test

Stage-I is a Computer Based Test (CBT), which means you answer on a computer at a test centre. It has 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each, in Hindi and English. It lasts one hour. There is no negative marking. The pass mark is 40 for UR, EWS and OBC, and 35 for SC and ST. Marks are normalised if the test runs in more than one shift. The detailed syllabus is on the application portal.

Bring your original ID proof (the same one you uploaded), one printout of the e-admit card and two colour passport photos. Your left thumb is scanned before the test (the right thumb if the left cannot be read). If henna or wax stops the machine from reading your finger, you will not be allowed to sit the test.

Stage-II: fitness test, assessment test, documents and medical

Stage-I marks and the space at recruitment centres decide who is called. You must upload more documents and pick a date and centre within the given time. Slots go first come, first served. Stage-II takes one to two days. Every part of it is pass or fail only.

The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) has four events done in one go, with no break:

Event Men Women
1.6 km run 6 min 30 sec 8 min
Squats 20 15
Push-ups 15 10
Bent knee sit-ups 15 10

A break between events counts as a fail. After the PFT comes an Assessment and Adaptability Test, then document verification (DV) and the recruitment medical. DV means officials match your original papers with your form. An unfit candidate may appeal at a military hospital within 14 days.

How the CGEPT final merit is made

Final merit uses only your Stage-I marks, provided you pass every part of Stage-II. Assessment test marks do not count, except to break a tie. If two people have the same Stage-I marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If they are still level, the higher assessment test score wins.

Stage-III and Stage-IV

Stage-III is held at INS Chilka, a naval training establishment. You travel there at your own cost. It covers an Aadhaar-based identity check and a second DV. A pre-enrolment medical may also be held, depending on the time since your Stage-II medical. You also hand over originals and a police verification report. That report must be obtained after the last date of the online form. In Stage-IV, your certificates are checked with the boards and universities that issued them.

Coast Guard medical standards: height, eyes and tattoos

  • Height: at least 157 cm for men and 152 cm for women. Up to 5 cm less for domicile of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim, and for Gorkhas. Up to 2 cm less for Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Minicoy, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • Chest (men): at least 77 cm, with 5 cm expansion. Women need 5 cm expansion.
  • Eyesight: Navik (GD) needs 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye. People who use glasses cannot join the GD branch. Navik (DB) needs 6/36 in each eye and Yantrik 6/24 in each eye. Hygienist-I needs 6/60 without glasses, or 6/9 and 6/24 with glasses.
  • Tattoos: allowed only on the inner forearm (elbow to wrist) and the back of the hand. Tribal communities get some concessions.
  • Teeth and ears: at least 14 dental points, and you must hear a whisper from 6 metres with each ear.

The notice advises getting ear wax cleaned and tooth tartar removed before the medical. No waiver is given on medical standards. A woman found pregnant is disqualified.

The notice puts each post at a Pay Level, which is its grade on the government pay table. DA (Dearness Allowance) is an allowance paid on top of basic pay. The notice gives no DA rate.

  • Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I: basic pay Rs 21,700 at Pay Level 3, plus DA and other allowances.
  • Yantrik: basic pay Rs 29,200 at Pay Level 5, plus Yantrik pay of Rs 6,200, plus DA and other allowances.

The notice gives no allowance amounts, so we have not estimated in-hand pay. Other benefits it lists include free ration and clothing, and free treatment in military hospitals for you, your family and dependent parents. It also lists 45 days of earned leave and 8 days of casual leave a year, and pension under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) or the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). A Rs 75 lakh cover comes from the Naval Group Insurance Fund (NGIF), for a fixed compulsory monthly contribution. Promotion can reach Pradhan Adhikari, Pradhan Shayak Engineer or Hygiene Supervisor. Promotion to the officer cadre depends on suitability and performance in service. The notice adds that pay, perks, promotion, this cover and other benefits can change as per Government Orders.

Filling the CGEPT form on ssc.gov.in without a rejection

  1. Register on www.ssc.gov.in. Write down the e-mail ID and mobile number you use. After you submit, they show only in hidden form. The Coast Guard will not help you recover them.
  2. Upload a colour photo taken within three months before 6 October 2026. The portal also takes a live photo of your face. The form goes through only if the two match.
  3. Upload your signature, date of birth proof (Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate) and ID proof. If you have Aadhaar, you must upload it as the first choice.
  4. Fill the marks of every subject exactly as printed on your marksheet. Wrong or missing marks cancel the application.
  5. Merge a document with two or more pages into one file. Documents in any language other than Hindi or English need an English translation with them.
  6. Choose exam cities, with the first choice nearest to your present address. The Coast Guard may still give you a city outside your choices. A centre, once given, is not changed.
  7. Use the print preview to check every detail before final submission. Pay Rs 550 (unless exempt). Finish before 5:30 PM on 21 October 2026.

Every document must be issued on or before 21 October 2026. It must stay valid at least up to 31 December 2027. If you use a category certificate, your current or permanent address on the form must match its address. OBC candidates need a central-format non-creamy layer certificate with a QR or bar code. EWS certificates must be in the Government of India format.

After registration, a 2 to 3 day edit window lets you change a few fields. The notice does not give its dates. No change is allowed after the closing date. Your date of birth and gender can never be changed later. Category details cannot be changed after you submit. If you wrongly mark a category, you cannot ask to be treated as general later.

Originals, copies and photos to carry for CGEPT Stage-II and Stage-III

Once you select a Stage-II date and centre, you cannot upload any more documents. So upload everything asked for first. For Stage-II, carry the printout of your application and e-admit cards, all originals, two self-attested copies of each, and 12 passport photos.

For Stage-III at INS Chilka, carry three self-attested photocopies of each original and 30 passport photos. You also need 10 colour photos of 3.5 cm by 2.5 cm with a blue background. Add the parental willingness, family particulars, character and willingness certificates, plus the police verification. You also need three original attestation forms. Aadhaar and a mobile number linked to it are a must at this stage. They are used to open your bank account and to create your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN).

More open posts for trade, diploma and graduate candidates after CGEPT

Some posts need a trade or a degree. Men with Class 12, a motor mechanic certificate and 3 years of workshop experience can apply for the ITBP Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) 2026 recruitment. Class 12 with a 3-year automobile diploma also qualifies there. Graduates with Psychology, or with a B.Ed, can read about the ITBP Head Constable (Education and Stress Counsellor) posts. The UKSSSC Technician Grade-II vacancies in Uttarakhand power companies need Class 10 (Science and Maths), a trade certificate, 2 years of experience and an Uttarakhand link.

For more openings, browse defence jobs and all-India government jobs. By qualification, see jobs for Class 12 pass candidates and jobs for Class 10 pass candidates. There are also lists of ITI jobs and diploma jobs.

Coast Guard CGEPT 2027 questions the notice answers

Can a woman apply for Yantrik or Navik (DB) in CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027?

No. Women can apply only for Navik (General Duty). Yantrik, Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I are for men only.

Can I apply for both Navik (GD) and Yantrik?

No. You may apply for one post only. If you submit two forms, only the latest one is kept and the earlier fee is not refunded.

I wear glasses. Which Coast Guard post can I try?

The GD branch does not take people who use glasses. Hygienist-I allows glasses, with 6/9 and 6/24 vision. For Navik (DB) and Yantrik, the notice gives a vision standard but does not say whether glasses are allowed.

Where do I check for a CGEPT corrigendum?

The notice says any corrigendum will be published only on www.ssc.gov.in. Keep checking that site and your login dashboard.

The notice says selection is on merit and warns against persons posing as recruitment agents. It asks candidates to report them to the Director (Recruitment), Coast Guard Headquarters, Recruitment Center, Noida, on 0120-2201340.
