What is AIIMS CRE-5 2026?
CRE-5 is a common recruitment exam that AIIMS New Delhi conducts on behalf of 32 different institutes across the country. Each of these institutes is a separate employer with its own rules, and they use this one common exam to select staff for their own vacancies. This is why the notification is so large, since it bundles vacancies from 22 AIIMS campuses and 10 other central government bodies into one recruitment drive.
The 22 AIIMS campuses covered are Awantipora, Bathinda, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bibinagar, Bilaspur, Deoghar, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Jodhpur, Kalyani, Mangalagiri, Madurai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raebareli, Raipur, Rajkot, Rewari, Rishikesh and Vijaypur (Jammu). The other 10 bodies are AIIMS-CAPFIMS Delhi, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute Kolkata, several ESIC units, ICMR and its institutes, Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, Pasteur Institute of India, a Rural Health Training Centre in Najafgarh, RIPANS Aizawl, and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College with Safdarjung Hospital. So this is a pan India recruitment, not just for AIIMS Delhi.
AIIMS CRE-5 2026: Which Posts Are Covered
The recruitment has 59 numbered post groups. There is no single official table that gives a vacancy count for each post type on its own, since the notification only lists vacancies institute by institute. Based on the groups listed, here are some of the major posts you can expect, with the usual pay level and qualification.
| Post | Usual Pay Level | Typical Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Cook, Dresser, Hospital Attendant, Office or Stores Attendant | Level 1 | 10th pass, sometimes with a certificate or a little experience |
| Lower Division Clerk (LDC) | Level 2 | 12th pass with a typing skill test |
| Upper Division Clerk (UDC) | Level 4 | Graduate with computer knowledge |
| Stenographer | Level 4 | 12th pass with a shorthand skill test |
| Pharmacist | Level 5 | Diploma in Pharmacy with registration under the Pharmacy Act |
| Technician (Lab, Radiology, and other types) | Level 2 to 7 depending on the trade | 12th with Science plus a diploma, up to a B.Sc in the relevant technology |
| Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) | Level 4 | 12th pass with an ANM certificate |
| Senior Nursing Officer (Staff Nurse Grade 1) | Level 8 | B.Sc Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc with registration and experience |
This list is only a sample to give you an idea. There are also posts like Junior Engineer, Dietician, Hindi Translator and Biomedical Engineer in the full notification. Since this is only an overview, check the official Annexure for the exact post, pay and vacancy at your chosen institute.
AIIMS CRE-5 2026 Eligibility
The qualification depends entirely on the post you choose. As a rough guide, it ranges from a 10th pass for Attendant and Cook posts, to 12th pass with a skill test for LDC and Stenographer, to 12th pass with an ANM certificate for ANM, to a graduate degree for UDC and administrative posts, and up to a nursing degree, pharmacy qualification or engineering degree for the technical and nursing posts. Qualification requirements are not the same across the exam, so check the row for your chosen post and institute in the official Annexure before applying.
AIIMS CRE-5 2026 Age Limit
The age limit changes from post to post, and even from institute to institute for the same post. As a general range, most posts fall somewhere between 18 and 35 years, but you must check the exact age for your post and institute in the notification. Age is counted as on the last date of registration, that is 3 July 2026.
The usual relaxation applies for reserved categories. SC and ST candidates get 5 years extra, OBC candidates get 3 years extra, and PwBD candidates get 10 years extra on the age limit for their post. One point to note is that EWS candidates do not get any age relaxation, and are treated the same as general candidates for age purposes, even though they do get a lower application fee.
AIIMS CRE-5 2026 Application Fee
- General and OBC candidates: ₹3,000
- SC, ST and EWS candidates: ₹2,400
- PwBD candidates: no fee
The fee is charged separately for each group of posts you apply to, so if you apply to more than one group, you pay the fee again for each one. Payment is online only, through a debit card, credit card or net banking. SC and ST candidates get their fee refunded after the exam if they actually appear for it. It is not clearly stated whether EWS candidates also get this refund, so do not assume it unless AIIMS confirms it.

AIIMS CRE-5 2026 Exam Pattern
The computer based test is the same basic format for every post, but the actual questions differ by your post group.
- Total questions: 100, each worth 4 marks, so 400 marks in total
- Time: 90 minutes, split into 5 sections of 20 questions each, with 18 minutes per section
- Once a section’s time is over, you cannot go back to it, and the test closes automatically when the total time ends
- Of the 100 questions, 20 are on General Knowledge, Aptitude and Computer Knowledge, and the remaining 80 are specific to your post group’s subject
- Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted for every 4 marks, which works out to a loss of 1 mark for each wrong answer
- Qualifying marks: 40 percent for General and EWS, 35 percent for OBC, and 30 percent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates
The exam language is bilingual, in English and Hindi, for posts that only need a 10th or 12th level qualification, but it is in English only for technical and graduate level posts.
AIIMS CRE-5 2026 Selection Process
The selection has a few stages, and one point often confuses candidates, so read this part carefully.
- First, you clear the computer based test described above. Your rank is based only on this test.
- For some posts, like typing based posts, stenography, and a few technical posts, there is also a skill test after the written exam. This skill test is only pass or fail, it does not add marks to your rank.
- One thing confuses many candidates. When you register now, you only choose a group of posts based on your eligibility. You do not pick your institute or exact post at this stage. Once the computer based test result comes out, only then are qualified candidates asked to fill their institute and post preferences, and seats are given based on your rank and your preference order.
- After that, the institute that selects you carries out document verification, using your original certificates.
So if you are applying now, your job right now is simply to register correctly and clear the exam. The choice of city and institute comes later.

AIIMS has clearly warned that it does not authorise any agent, coaching centre, or social media or messaging group to help with this recruitment, appointment or payment. Only trust the official website for every step.
Common Mistakes About AIIMS CRE-5 2026
- Calling it an “AIIMS Nursing Officer recruitment” or mixing it up with NORCET. NORCET is a completely separate AIIMS exam only for Nursing Officer posts. CRE-5 is a much bigger exam covering 59 post groups, and nursing is just one small part of it.
- Saying there is a post called MTS. As explained above, that name does not exist here.
- Presenting 1,484 as an exact number quoted in the notification. It is a widely used estimate, not an official headline figure.
- Giving one age limit or one qualification for the whole exam. Both depend on your specific post and institute.
- Assuming this is only for AIIMS Delhi. It covers 32 institutes across India.
Should You Apply?
If you meet the qualification for any of the 59 post groups, this single form gives you access to central government health sector posts across 32 institutes. The range is wide, from 10th pass attendant roles to nursing and technical posts for degree holders, so most job seekers in the health and general administration space can find something here. The only difficulty is the very short time left, since the form closes on 3 July 2026. If you are eligible, do not wait, check your post and institute details in the official annexure today, and complete your registration well before the 5 PM deadline.
