JKSSB Advt 08 of 2026 is mostly a health drive: 211 of its 518 posts are for Junior Pharmacist. The rest include staff nurses, lab, theatre and eye technicians, health workers, horticulture technicians and college lab assistants. The online form opened on 10 September 2026. A notice of 9 October 2026 extended the last date to 24 October 2026. You need a J&K Domicile Certificate, and each post has its own qualification.

Sources: Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2026 (4 August 2026, 38 pages), the 9 September 2026 instructions notice and the 9 October 2026 extension notice. Post counts are the sum of items 104 to 181 on pages 15 to 36. Read them as PDFs: advertisement, instructions and extension. On 12 October 2026 the Board’s What’s New page showed no corrigendum or further extension for Advt 08 of 2026. Its latest Advt 08 entry was the extension notice of 9 October 2026, and this page includes it.

JKSSB Advt 08 of 2026 last date moved to 24 October

The advertisement set the window as 10 September to 9 October 2026. The 9 September notice fixed 11:59 PM on 9 October as the end for both the form and the fee. After requests from candidates, the 9 October notice says the last date “shall be 24.10.2026, instead of 09.10.2026”.

That notice gives only the new date. It names no closing time and no separate fee date. An unpaid form is not counted, so pay the fee well before 24 October 2026.

Clause 2 of the advertisement treats the last date as the cut-off date “unless otherwise extended”. Domicile, category and qualification certificates must be valid on or before the cut-off date. The extension notice says nothing separate about the cut-off date.

Advt 08 wants certificate PDFs inside the online form, not later

This advertisement collects documents during the online form. Candidates claiming a reserved category must upload the category certificate. Everyone uploads self-attested qualification certificates. Each file is a PDF of up to 100 KB. Clause 6(b) warns that “no further opportunity to upload any document shall be provided”. Originals are still checked later at Document Verification (DV).

  1. Register through “Log-in (Apply on Various Posts)” on jkssb.nic.in with an e-mail ID and mobile number. A one-time password (OTP) sent by e-mail activates the account.
  2. Sign in with the username, finish the OTR (One-Time Registration) form, and apply under “Active Advertisement”.
  3. Copy your name, birth date and parents’ names exactly as printed on the Matric certificate.
  4. The camera takes a live face photo; saved photos and screenshots are refused. The signature image is 10 to 20 KB, at 1.5 by 3.5 cm.
  5. Attach the certificate PDFs described above.
  6. Submit only when every entry is right, since no edits are allowed later. Pay through “Pay Now” and look for the “Submitted” fee status.

Each form costs Rs 600. SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities) candidates pay Rs 500. Payment can be by net banking, UPI or a bank card, and it is not refunded. JKSSB accepts a single form for any one item number. It rejects forms with an unclear photo or signature.

The 9 September notice asks for preferences by post group. The advertisement (clause 17(l)) adds that preferences cannot be changed once filled.

Agriculture Production (Horticulture) has 46, Higher Education has 48 and Labour and Employment has 3.

Total 518

These are basic pay scales. Take-home pay depends on allowances such as DA (Dearness Allowance), which the advertisement does not list. The advertisement uses only the short forms FMPHW and MMPHW; the JKSSB website spells them out as female and male multipurpose health worker in other notices.

By category, the posts are: Open Merit 221, SC 54, ST-1 63, ST-2 52, OBC 32 and EWS 36. There are 38 posts for RBA candidates (from backward areas) and 22 for ALC/IB candidates (from areas along the Line of Actual Control or the International Border). One cell in item 174 (MMPHW, Kulgam) is blank in the PDF. The row total of 3 and all column totals still add up with that cell read as zero.

Pulwama, Baramulla and Kulgam hold more than half the Junior Pharmacist seats

Most health posts are district cadre posts in Kashmir division. Health Educator and Sanitary Inspector are divisional posts for Kashmir.

District (item) Junior Pharmacist posts
Pulwama (122) 40
Baramulla (127) 36
Kulgam (124) 34
Kupwara (126) 29

Anantnag (125) 20
Ganderbal (121) 11

Jammu division gets just three items: Horticulture Technician Grade-IV in Rajouri (1) and Poonch (3), and 21 Junior Laboratory Assistant posts at divisional level. The 3 Supervisor posts belong to the UT (Union Territory) cadre. All other items are in Kashmir division.

Short training courses to a Science degree: the qualification for each Advt 08 post

  • Junior Pharmacist: at least 10+2 with Science, plus a degree or diploma in Pharmacy.
  • Junior Staff Nurse: Matric or above with Science, plus a diploma in General Nursing Midwifery.
  • Junior Lab. Technician: Matric or above, plus a lab technician diploma of at least two years or a degree in lab technology.
  • Junior Theatre Technician and Junior Ophthalmic Technician: Matric or above, plus a degree or diploma in that course.
  • FMPHW: Matric or above with Science, plus a diploma in FMPHW. MMPHW: Matric or above, plus an MMPHW diploma of at least one year.
  • Sanitary Inspector: 10+2 or above, plus a diploma of at least two years in Sanitation and Public Health.

  • Para Medical Assistant: 10+2 with a diploma in the Para Medical Assistant course.
  • Horticulture Technician Grade-IV: 10+2 with one year of Basic Horticulture training. Senior Canning Attendant: Matric with six months of training in Fruit Preservation.
  • Junior Laboratory Assistant: a B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Zoology and Botany) or Mathematics, or a derivative subject. A PG Diploma of at least one year in a professional lab course in Chemistry or another science gets preference, but only when merit is equal.
  • Supervisor: Matriculation or equivalent.

For the Senior Canning Attendant and Horticulture Technician items, the training certificate must come from a recognised source. Note (i) of the advertisement names government departments and institutions, recognised universities and their colleges, agricultural or horticultural universities, and ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) institutes or accredited programmes. It also accepts any other institution recognised or authorised by a competent government or statutory authority. Degrees from outside J&K, other than from Central Universities, need a Bonafide Certificate in the Board’s format.

No home-district points in Advt 08: merit is the OMR score

All 78 items in the post table give the same rule: selection on “merit obtained in the written/OMR examination only”. The advertisement lists no interview, weightage or bonus marks for any item. The answers go on an OMR sheet, where you shade one bubble per question and a machine reads it. Questions are objective and set in English only. A wrong answer takes away a quarter of the marks for that question.

As of 12 October 2026, the test date, centres and syllabus had not been announced. JKSSB says it will notify them separately. Admit cards appear on its website about one week before the test. Bring the admit card, an original photo ID and two colour photos not older than six months. PwBD candidates may use their own scribe and/or get 20 minutes extra per hour, with the forms in Annexures B and C.

Advt 08 birth-date window: 1 January 1986 for Open Merit, 1983 for reserved groups

The reference date for age is 1 January 2026. Anyone born after 1 January 2008 is too young. Open Merit candidates must be born on or after 1 January 1986 (upper age 40). SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC candidates may be born from 1 January 1983 (upper age 43). For physically challenged candidates, the date is 1 January 1984 (upper age 42).

For ex-servicemen, the years served in the Armed Forces come off their age, and the result may exceed the limit by up to 3 years. A category certificate in any format other than the prescribed one is rejected.

Form problems: e-mail ssbjk-grievance@jk.gov.in, or call 0191-2461335 (Jammu), 0194-2435089 (Srinagar) or the NIC (National Informatics Centre) line 9107706766.

Health diploma holders can also see our healthcare jobs list. The Board’s last technical round on this site was 130 ITI, diploma and graduate posts under Advt 04/2026. More openings are listed under Jammu and Kashmir government jobs, jobs for diploma holders and jobs for 12th pass candidates.
