Of the 172, 135 are fresh vacancies and 37 are backlog. One post, a Junior Engineer (Survey) seat in Geology and Mining, has been officially withdrawn, which is why the item list and the final count differ by one.

Qualification: Diploma or Degree, by Post

Because the exam spans many services, the qualification depends on the post you choose. For the Junior Engineer posts, either a degree in the relevant engineering branch or a 3-year diploma in it is accepted, so both diploma and degree holders can apply. Sub-Divisional Officer posts need an engineering degree. The medical, dental, veterinary and law posts need the corresponding professional qualification, such as MBBS, BDS, BVSc or an LLB with Bar Council registration.
