Uttar Pradesh has opened its biggest accounts recruitment of the year: 1,829 posts of Auditor and Assistant Accountant across 22 departments, from the Local Fund Audit Directorate to municipal bodies, universities and the Housing Board. The eligibility is specific, though, and it filters hard: a commerce degree, an NIELIT O Level certificate, and a valid UPSSSC PET 2025 score, all three together. Applications run from 14 July to 3 August 2026.

Read from the official notification (checked 15 July 2026). UPSSSC Advt No. 14-Exam/2026, dated 3 June 2026, for Auditor (Lekha Parikshak) and Assistant Accountant (Sahayak Lekhakar). The vacancy table, eligibility, fee and exam pattern below are read from the official 40-page notification (a copy of the official PDF verified byte-identical across two independent mirrors, since upsssc.gov.in serves India-only traffic). Apply through the Live Advertisement section on the UPSSSC portal.

One number worth getting right, because sites disagree: the official vacancy table splits as Auditor 223 (Local Fund Audit Directorate 148 plus 14 special selection, Urban Local Bodies Directorate 60, and 1 at KNIT Sultanpur) and Assistant Accountant 1,606 (led by the Internal Audit and Accounts Directorate with 609 and Urban Local Bodies with 600, then the Housing Board, Forest Corporation, construction and industrial bodies, and several universities). Any figure like “148 Auditor” or “1,681 Assistant Accountant” comes from reading a single row of the table as the whole cadre.

Three Certificates, One Application

Eligibility here is a three-key lock, and most rejections will come from missing one:

  • A commerce degree: a Bachelor of Commerce from a recognised university, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy accepted as the alternative for most departments. A general BA or BSc does not qualify.
  • An NIELIT O Level certificate: the computer qualification is the O Level diploma, and it is a requirement in addition to the degree. Note carefully that a CCC certificate is not listed as an alternative in this advertisement, so do not assume it substitutes.
  • A valid PET 2025 score: like all UPSSSC mains, you can only apply with a Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 score card, and you log in with your PET 2025 registration number rather than making a new account. Candidates with zero or negative PET scores are not shortlisted.

If you clear all three, the effective competition is far smaller than the headline, because each requirement cuts the pool again.

An Accounting-Heavy Paper, Not a General One

Shortlisting happens on the normalised PET 2025 score at 15 times the vacancies, category-wise, and then everything rides on one written exam. The officially approved pattern:

  • 100 questions, 100 marks, 120 minutes, with one-fourth negative marking.
  • Part 1 (65 marks): audit and final accounts, fundamentals of accounting and depreciation, double entry and bank reconciliation with general financial rules, e-banking and computerised budget control, advanced accountancy, and taxation with arithmetic.
  • Part 2 (15 marks): computer and IT concepts, including current developments like AI and big data.
  • Part 3 (20 marks): general knowledge of Uttar Pradesh.

Two-thirds of the paper is core commerce, which rewards genuine B.Com preparation over generic exam cramming. There is no interview, selection follows the UP no-interview rules for Group C posts, and the notification lists no medical stage. Ignore any site listing a separate reasoning or general maths section; the official plan has none, and arithmetic appears only inside the taxation topic of Part 1.

Level 5 Pay and Which Department You Could Land In

Both posts carry Pay Matrix Level 5, a band of ₹29,200 to ₹92,300, which is a step above the usual UPSSSC Level 4 clerical grade. Where you serve depends on the department your merit assigns: auditors mostly go to the Local Fund Audit Directorate that audits local bodies, while Assistant Accountants spread across the Internal Audit Directorate, municipal bodies, the Housing and Development Board, the Forest Corporation, construction corporations and state universities. The notification prints no in-hand figure; with UP allowances an entry Level 5 in-hand typically lands around forty to forty-five thousand a month depending on posting and HRA, but treat that as our estimate from the pay matrix, not a UPSSSC number. Some sites list Level 4 for these posts; the notification’s own table says Level 5 for both.

The ₹25 Form and the Two Deadlines People Mix Up

The application costs ₹25 for every category, structured as a zero application fee plus a ₹25 processing charge; the main examination fee is charged separately later, only from shortlisted candidates before admit cards. The dates to keep straight: applications and fee payment close on 3 August 2026, and the 10 August date that follows is only for fee reconciliation and correcting permitted fields in already-submitted forms. It is not an extension for new applications or new payments.

Applying With Your PET 2025 Login

  1. Open upsssc.gov.in and go to the Live Advertisement segment for Advt 14-Exam/2026.
  2. Log in with your PET 2025 registration number and OTP; there is no fresh registration for this form.
  3. Enter your B.Com or PG Diploma details and your O Level certificate details, and check them twice, since eligibility is verified against documents later.
  4. Pay ₹25 online and submit before 3 August 2026. Use the window till 10 August only for corrections.

This adds to our Uttar Pradesh coverage alongside the UPSSSC Cane Supervisor and Forest Guard drives and every UP job we track.

Who Should Take This Seriously

A B.Com graduate with an O Level certificate and a PET 2025 score is looking at the best-matched large recruitment UP has offered this cycle: 1,829 regular Level 5 posts, an exam built around commerce subjects, and a ₹25 form. If you are missing the O Level, the honest note is that this advertisement does not accept CCC in its place, so verify your certificate before applying rather than after. The form closes 3 August 2026.

1,829 total: 223 Auditor posts and 1,606 Assistant Accountant posts, spread over 22 departments. Figures like 148 or 1,681 come from misreading single rows of the official table.

Can any graduate apply for UPSSSC Auditor and Assistant Accountant?

No. You need a B.Com (or a PG Diploma in Accountancy for most departments) plus an NIELIT O Level computer certificate plus a valid UPSSSC PET 2025 score card. All three are required.
