UKSSSC Scaler Recruitment 2026: 200 Van Vikas Nigam Posts With a 25 km Run

Men must cover 25 km, and women 14 km, within 4 hours before they can sit the written paper in UKSSSC Scaler Recruitment 2026. The 200 Group C (subordinate, non-gazetted) posts are in the Uttarakhand Van Vikas Nigam, the state’s forest development corporation. The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) put them out in Advertisement No. 82/2026, dated 15 September 2026. The online form runs from 22 September to 22 October 2026 on sssc.uk.gov.in. You need Class 12 (Intermediate) with Science or Arithmetic, and an age of 18 to 28 on 1 July 2026. The pay is Rs 19,900 to Rs 63,200 at Level 2, a step in the government pay table.

UKSSSC Scaler Recruitment 2026 keeps 60 of its 200 seats for Uttarakhand women

The women’s seats are horizontal. They are counted within each category, so they do not add to the 200. The other special groups in the notice work the same way:

• 20 for identified state agitators or their dependents. These are people recognised for the movement for a separate Uttarakhand state, and this quota is subject to a case in the Nainital High Court;
• 10 for ex-servicemen and 10 for orphans;
• 8 for skilled sportspersons of Uttarakhand;
• 8 for persons with disabilities: 4 for hearing loss (HH/PD), 2 for low vision or blindness (AAV/AV) and 2 for locomotor disability (LC);
• 4 for dependents of Uttarakhand freedom fighters.

The notice says the employer department sets these numbers, and they may still go up or down.

Level 2 pay and EPF cover in a temporary Van Vikas Nigam post

The pay scale is Rs 19,900 to Rs 63,200. Rs 19,900 is the basic pay you start on. Allowances are not listed in the notice, so this page gives no in-hand figure.

The notice calls the post non-gazetted (not a notified officer rank) and temporary. It is covered by the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), a retirement savings fund that you and your employer pay into. The notice does not describe the daily duties.

Class 12 Science or Arithmetic, with a tie-break edge for Territorial Army and NCC

You must have passed Intermediate (Class 12) or an equivalent exam with Science or Arithmetic. The Hindi notice uses the word “ankganit”, which means arithmetic. The board must be one set up by law in India, or a recognised school in Uttarakhand. You need this pass by 22 October 2026, the last date of the form.

When other things are equal, preference goes to candidates with either of these:

• at least 2 years of service in the Territorial Army; or
• a National Cadet Corps (NCC) “B” or “C” certificate.

Your Class 10 certificate decides the 28-year age cap

You must be at least 18 and not over 28 on 1 July 2026. Your birth date must fall between 2 July 1998 and 1 July 2008. The Commission takes your date of birth only from your high school (Class 10) certificate.

Extra years on the upper limit apply only to people from Uttarakhand:

Uttarakhand ex-servicemen use a different method. They subtract their armed forces service from their real age. If the result is no more than 3 years above the upper limit, they meet the age rule.

The Uttarakhand link every Scaler applicant must show

Candidates from other states should read this part closely. For this kind of Group C post, you must meet at least one of these three conditions:

1. You are registered at an employment office (sevayojan karyalaya) in Uttarakhand by the last date of the form.
2. You hold an Uttarakhand domicile or permanent residence certificate, which proves Uttarakhand is your home state.
3. You passed both high school and Intermediate (or equal exams) from recognised institutions in Uttarakhand.

The notice also allows certain staff working in Uttarakhand, along with their spouse and children. These are serving members of the armed and paramilitary forces and regular staff of the state government or its bodies. Regular staff of the central government or central public sector units also count. The notice ties this to staff whose service cannot be moved out of Uttarakhand. Permanent residents of Uttarakhand who live outside the state for work or study, and their spouse and children, can also apply.

People already working in Uttarakhand state services do not need employment office registration. Others in government jobs can register only after getting a no objection certificate (NOC) from their department. Ex-servicemen registered with a district Sainik Kalyan (soldier welfare) office in Uttarakhand need not register again.

Reservation works differently. Every reservation in the notice, from SC to women and sportspersons, is only for Uttarakhand domiciles. Others get no reservation benefit in any of these categories.

A 25 km run in 4 hours comes before any written paper

The physical stage only decides who goes ahead. It adds no marks. It is to start from 19 November 2026, but the notice calls that date provisional.

163 cm for men, 150 cm for women, lower for hill communities

The lower height applies to Scheduled Tribes and to Gorkha, Nepali, Assamese, Ladakhi, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, Garhwali, Kumaoni and Naga candidates. It also covers candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti, and Meghalaya. To claim it, upload a hill-area or ST certificate with the form and bring it to the physical test. The chest rule is an expansion of 5 cm, and the notice gives no base chest size. Separately, anyone whose normal vision defect is more than plus or minus 4.00 dioptre (the unit for spectacle power) cannot be appointed.

Run first, then shot put, long jump and high jump

Only those who finish the run in time move on to the shot put and the two jumps. You get up to three attempts in each of those events and must clear the mark in one of them. Failing any part ends your chance in this recruitment.

One pen-and-paper test on science and maths, with a 45% pass mark

• One objective paper on an OMR sheet, worth 100 marks, in 2 hours. An OMR sheet is a printed answer sheet that a machine reads.
• The paper is General Science and General Maths, 50 marks each, as set out in the syllabus notice below.
• Each question has four options. A wrong answer costs one-fourth of that question’s marks, and marking more than one option also counts as wrong.
• A question left blank costs nothing.
• Whitener, scratching or cutting on the OMR sheet is banned and also draws negative marks.
• A wrong or missing roll number or booklet series on the OMR sheet means it is not checked, and your candidature ends.
• You may take the question booklet and the third copy of the OMR sheet home. Hand the other two copies to the invigilator (exam hall supervisor), or your result becomes zero.

Minimum marks to pass are 45% for unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates, and 35% for SC and ST candidates. The merit list follows the written marks. When marks are equal, the older candidate goes first. If birth dates also match, names are ranked A to Z in English, and the Territorial Army or NCC preference also counts when other things are equal. The exam date will come later through the website and press notes. After the paper, you can challenge the answer key online at Rs 50 per question.

General knowledge dropped under a 2026 Scaler rule change

UKSSSC released the Scaler exam scheme and syllabus with its notice No. 2100/2026-27 of 24 September 2026. The state government approved it by a letter dated 23 September 2026.

• General Science (50 marks): Unit I covers chemistry, such as atoms, acids and bases, reactions, metals and carbon compounds. Unit II covers physics, such as light, electricity, magnetism, motion, force, energy and sound. Unit III covers biology and environment, including the human body, plants, ecology, pollution, forests, wildlife and better farm produce.
• General Maths (50 marks): algebra and geometry, such as polynomials, quadratic equations, progressions, coordinate geometry, triangles, circles, trigonometry and mensuration. It also has arithmetic: percentage, profit and loss, interest, time and work, and time and distance. Statistics, probability and linear equations close the list.

The syllabus adds that current awareness of scientific progress in these units is part of the paper. One change stands out. A 2026 amendment to the Van Vikas Nigam service rules, attached to the syllabus notice, replaced the old 150-mark Scaler paper. That paper had 50 marks each of maths, general knowledge and science. The new paper has 100 marks and drops the general knowledge section.

Fee depends on category, and orphans pay none

Pay online only, with a bank card, net banking or UPI. The form counts as complete only when its status shows “Completed”.

Issuing rules for EWS, OBC and orphan certificates

• EWS: issue date from 1 April to 22 October 2026, using 2025-26 income, valid for 2026-27. EWS is only for those who do not get SC, ST or OBC reservation.
• OBC: valid for 3 years from its date of issue, and still valid on 22 October 2026.
• Orphans: from an officer not below Sub-Divisional Magistrate, on the District Probation Officer’s recommendation.
• Ex-servicemen: anyone who has already got a government job through this quota cannot use it again. Dependents of ex-servicemen get no reservation.
• State agitators: each one must give an affidavit (a sworn written statement) about any earlier use of this quota.
• Several sub-categories: you get the benefit of only one, the one most useful to you.

Formats for SC and ST, OBC, EWS, freedom fighters’ dependents and disability certificates are printed in the annexures (the attached pages) of the notice. Get yours made in the same format.

Your Aadhaar number opens the UKSSSC Scaler application

1. Register with your Aadhaar number. One Aadhaar can be used only once. Use your own mobile number and e-mail ID.
2. Enter your name, father’s name and date of birth as printed on your high school certificate.
3. Upload your high school certificate and both sides of your Aadhaar card, plus every category or sub-category certificate you claim.
4. Upload a recent colour passport photo of 150 x 200 pixels. Your signature and left thumb impression go in at 150 x 100 pixels each. All three must be JPG files.
5. Pay the fee and print the form. You do not need to send the printout to the Commission.

Do not file two forms for this post, or both will be cancelled. If you spot a mistake before 22 October 2026, you can cancel your form and apply again, but the first fee is lost. There is also one edit window from 26 to 27 October 2026. It does not allow changes to your name, your parents’ names, your age or your exam centre. Candidates with a disability who use a scribe (a writer who answers for you) get 20 minutes of extra time per hour, under Annexure-03. Government employees must tell their employer before applying and keep an NOC ready for the document check.

Start training for the 25 km run before the November Scaler test

1. Check which of the three Uttarakhand conditions you meet. If it is employment office registration, finish it by 22 October 2026.
2. Build up to a 25 km (men) or 14 km (women) distance. The physical test is planned from 19 November 2026.
3. Keep your EWS, OBC or other certificates in the annexure format, and watch sssc.uk.gov.in for the physical test schedule and the exam date.
