India Post GDS 4th Merit List 2026 Out: Download PDF, Check Name and DV Documents

India Post has released the GDS 4th Merit List 2026 for 28,636 Gramin Dak Sevak posts. The list is out on the official portal indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. If your name is in it, your next step is Document Verification — so check the list and start getting your papers ready.

I checked the portal, and here is one thing many candidates miss: this is a merit list, not an exam result. There is no written test for GDS. Your selection is based only on your Class 10 marks, calculated up to four decimal places. So the candidate with the higher 10th percentage is picked first.

Which posts are in this list?

The 28,636 vacancies are for three roles — Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak.

How to check your name in the merit list

  1. Go to indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
  2. Open “GDS Online Engagement” and select Schedule-I, January 2026.
  3. Choose your postal circle from the drop-down menu.
  4. Open the 4th merit list PDF for your circle.
  5. Press Ctrl + F, type your 7-digit registration number, and find your name in seconds.

Selected? Keep these documents ready for Document Verification

If your name is in the list, you have to report for Document Verification (DV). Carry the original plus one photocopy of each:

  • Class 10 marksheet — this is your main selection proof
  • Birth certificate or date-of-birth proof
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC), or EWS / disability certificate, if it applies to you
  • Computer training certificate — needed for BPM posts
  • Photo ID (Aadhaar etc.) and a residence certificate
  • A few recent passport-size photos

The last date for DV is printed inside your circle’s merit list PDF, and it can be different for each circle. Read your own PDF carefully and report on or before that date.

Your name is not in the list?

Don’t lose hope. India Post usually releases more lists when seats stay empty after document verification. If you are not in the 4th list, a 5th merit list may still come for your circle. For reference, here is how the India Post GDS 3rd merit list was released earlier. Keep checking the official portal and your registered email.

Official link: Check your result only on indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. Do not enter your registration number on any other “merit list” website.
