The Supreme Court wants programmers for 15 tentative posts in its Registry, under the title Court Assistant (Technical Assistant-cum-Programmer). The Supreme Court Technical Assistant-cum-Programmer Recruitment 2026 notice is dated 12 October 2026. It asks for a degree in computer science, IT or computer applications, plus 3 or 4 years of software development experience. The online form opens on 3 November 2026 and closes on 24 November 2026 at 11:55 PM. The pay is Level 7, starting at Rs 44,900 basic. The age limit is 18 to 35 years on 1 October 2026. The two objective tests are tentatively set for 22 December 2026.

Official paper used: Supreme Court of India advertisement F.6/2026/Tech.Post/SC(RC), dated 12 October 2026 and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Recruitment). The scanned 9-page PDF was read page by page as images; its last two pages are the scribe forms for candidates with disabilities. The Court Assistant (Technical Assistant-cum-Programmer) advertisement is listed on the Supreme Court recruitments page. On 14 October 2026 the Supreme Court website showed no corrigendum or date extension for F.6/2026/Tech.Post/SC(RC), and no application link for it yet.

Pay Level 7 and Rule 4A reservation in the Supreme Court Technical Assistant-cum-Programmer Recruitment 2026

The Court will prepare a panel to fill 15 tentative vacancies (page 1). The notice classes the post as Group B, Non-Gazetted, in Level 7 of the pay matrix (Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400). Allowances are paid “as admissible under the Rules”, but the notice gives no figures for them. So this page does not estimate take-home pay.

The number of posts may change, and the Registry can alter or cancel the process. The notice does not split the 15 posts by category. It says reservation follows Rule 4A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961 (page 2).

Three degree routes for the 15 programmer posts: B.Sc. or BCA needs 60% and 4 years

You must be an Indian citizen and meet one of these routes on 1 October 2026 (pages 1 and 2):

Your degree Marks rule Software development experience
B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science or IT None printed 3 years
MCA or M.Sc. in Computer Science None printed 3 years
B.Sc. in Computer Science or BCA First Class or at least 60% aggregate 4 years

A law degree from a recognised university “will be preferred and considered as an additional qualification”. It is not required. The notice does not say whether the experience must come after your degree. The notice lists experience certificates among the documents to upload with the online form (page 4).

Upper age 35 on 1 October 2026, with no relaxation for other government staff

You must be at least 18 and not above 35 years on 1 October 2026 (page 2). Relaxation works like this:

  • SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), physically challenged candidates and ex-servicemen get the usual relaxation under Government of India rules. The notice does not print the years.
  • Dependants of freedom fighters get up to five extra years.
  • Supreme Court Registry staff have no upper age limit.
  • Staff of other government departments, PSUs (public sector undertakings) and nationalised banks get no age relaxation. They must also give a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at document verification (pages 2 and 7).

Two objective papers on 22 December, then a practical test in Delhi/NCR

Test Time Maximum marks Minimum to qualify
Objective test: 40 General English (with comprehension), 30 General Aptitude, 30 Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude 1 hour 30 minutes 100 50
Objective Technical Aptitude Test 1 hour 30 minutes 50 25
Practical Aptitude Test 1 hour 30 minutes 50 25
Interview Not stated 25 13

Both objective tests carry negative marking: 0.25 marks are cut for each wrong answer (page 6). By our own sum, four wrong answers cost one full mark. The notice does not give a syllabus or question count for the technical and practical tests. The interview pass mark is 13 out of 25, which is 52% by our sum.

The two objective tests are held in five cities: Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru (page 5). You list them in order of preference, but the Registry may send you to another city. The practical test is only in Delhi/NCR. The interview may be online or in person in Delhi. No TA/DA (travel or daily allowance) is paid.

Answer keys are due on 24 December 2026. Objections can be filed online, tentatively on 24 and 25 December 2026 until 11:55 PM, at Rs 100 each. The fee is refunded if an objection is found valid (page 6).

Shortlists at 1:10 for the Delhi/NCR practical test and 1:3 for interview

The practical test is the second stage. If many candidates score at least 50% in each objective test, the Court shortlists by merit at 10 per tentative vacancy for it. For interview, it keeps 3 per vacancy among those who clear all three tests (page 6). By our own sum, with 15 vacancies that would be about 150 and 45 candidates.

Scribe rules and extra time for disabled candidates in the 22 December tests

Concessions follow the Office Memorandum of 1 August 2025 from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (page 6). To use a scribe, fill in Appendix-I (a medical certificate) or Appendix-II (an undertaking), as the case may be. The scribe’s qualification must be at least two and at most three academic years below the minimum qualification for the exam. Your own scribe must not be a candidate in this exam, and may write for only one candidate. Compensatory time is given as admissible. Without the supporting documents at the exam and at document verification, you lose the scribe facility and your candidature is cancelled (page 7).

Six steps from 3 November to the 24 November 11:55 PM cut-off

  1. Watch the Supreme Court recruitments page for the application link, due from 3 November 2026.
  2. Use your name, parents’ names and date of birth exactly as in your Class 10 certificate. A changed name needs a Gazette notification (page 5).
  3. Choose your category with care. Requests to change it later are not accepted.
  4. Upload a recent photo, your signature, and your Class 10, Class 12, graduation and experience certificates. Add a caste or disability certificate if it applies (page 4).
  5. Pay the fee online through the UCO Bank gateway. General candidates pay Rs 1,500. SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), ex-servicemen and physically challenged candidates pay Rs 750. Bank charges are extra, and the fee is never refunded.
  6. Submit by 11:55 PM on 24 November 2026. Once submitted, a form cannot be withdrawn or changed (page 4).

If you submit again, only the last form counts (page 5). Requests to change the city, centre or test dates are not accepted. Keep your e-mail ID and mobile number active. Dates for the practical test and interview will also come by SMS and e-mail (pages 5 and 6). Admit cards are only online. Were you unemployed when you applied? If you get a job during or after the process, tell the Branch Officer, Recruitment Cell at recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in (page 7). Forms that do not follow the instructions are rejected outright.

On the same day, the Court also advertised 65 Senior Personal Assistant vacancies (advertisement F.6/11/SPA/2026-SC (RC)). That is a shorthand post with an age limit of 30 and no negative marking. Graduates with typing skills can also see the Supreme Court Junior Court Assistant recruitment and the RRB NTPC graduate-level vacancies. More openings sit under court and judiciary jobs, all-India government jobs, jobs for graduates and jobs for postgraduates.
