DSSSB Sweeper and Chowkidar Recruitment 2026 for Delhi District Courts
On this page
Delhi’s District & Sessions Courts need 10 Sweepers (Safai Karamcharis) and 15 Chowkidars, and the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) is filling them. This is DSSSB Sweeper Chowkidar Recruitment 2026, Advertisement No. 05/2026. Applications open at 12 noon on 13 October 2026 and close at 11:00 PM on 11 November 2026. A 10th pass is the only qualification, and no experience is asked for. Candidates must be at least 18 and under 27 on 1 June 2026, with extra years for reserved groups.
DSSSB Sweeper Chowkidar Recruitment 2026: seats, pay grade and one ex-servicemen seat each
| Post (code) | Unreserved | OBC | SC | ST | EWS | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweeper/Safai Karamchari (46/26) | 5 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 10 |
| Chowkidar (47/26) | 7 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 15 |
| Total | 12 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 25 |
In the column heads, EWS is the economically weaker section and OBC the other backward classes; SC and ST are the Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Inside these 25 seats, each post keeps 1 seat for ex-servicemen (page 3). No seat is kept for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD). Even so, page 3 marks both posts as suitable for several kinds of disability. Page 12 gives PwBD candidates age relaxation on a suitable post, reserved seat or not.
Both are Group C jobs. The pay scale printed is Rs 5,200-20,200 with a grade pay of Rs 2,000 (pages 3 and 4). The notice prints no monthly salary, and this page does not guess one. Seat numbers are open to change by the courts (page 9).
Ten candidates per seat, plus ties, for the 15-mark Sweeper and Chowkidar interview
Selection has two steps for each post (pages 6 and 7). DSSSB first holds a 100-mark multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper. The office of the Principal District & Sessions Judge then interviews the shortlisted candidates, and the courts at Tis Hazari draw up the final list (page 8).
- Four sections of 25 marks: English, Hindi, general knowledge with current affairs, and arithmetic.
- Time allowed is 120 minutes, and 160 minutes for candidates with disabilities. Questions are printed in Hindi and English, other than the language sections themselves.
- A wrong answer takes away a quarter mark.
- Pass mark: 50% for unreserved and EWS candidates; 45% for OBC (Delhi), SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates (page 7).
- At most 10 candidates per seat reach the interview: up to 100 for Sweeper and 150 for Chowkidar. Anyone tied on the last mark is also called.
- The interview is worth 15 marks and has no pass mark. MCQ plus interview decides the merit.
A note on page 8 says a skill, endurance or driving test “will be taken as per requirement of job”. The judge’s office may also change or drop a stage (page 7). The dates of the paper and the interview are to be posted on the DSSSB and court websites (page 1).
Six checks before you apply under code 46/26 or 47/26
- Date of birth: from 2 June 1999 to 1 June 2008 (page 3), going by your 10th certificate (page 12). SC and ST candidates get 5 more years and OBC (Delhi) candidates 3. PwBD candidates get 10, 13 or 15 years by category, and ex-servicemen their service period plus 3 years, up to 55 (page 12).
- Government staff: row 6 of the page 12 table names no extra years for employees with 3 years of service. Its garbled sentence opens with “There is no provision in DDC Rules, 2012” and contains “no age relaxation for Government Employees”. Do not plan on a relaxation.
- OBC from outside Delhi: “OBC (Outside)” candidates are treated as unreserved and must apply as UR (page 10). An outside certificate is accepted only for a community on Delhi’s OBC list. It must also rest on a Delhi OBC certificate of a father, sibling or real paternal uncle resident in Delhi before 8 September 1993.
- Certificate dates: an OBC non-creamy layer certificate dated 1 April 2026 or later, but not after 11 November 2026. The EWS income and asset certificate is for 2026-27, issued by 11 November 2026 (pages 10 and 11). Keep the certificate ready before you start the form, as page 10 asks.
- Fee: Rs 100 through SBI e-pay, with no refund. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen are exempt. Ex-servicemen who already got a regular government job through their reserved quota must pay (pages 5 and 6).
- One form per code: page 13 allows “only one online application” for “each post code”. A second form under the same code gets all of them rejected.
OARS account, photo and e-dossier for DSSSB Advt 05/2026
Forms are filed only through OARS, DSSSB’s one-time registration portal at dsssbonline.nic.in. Holders of an old OARS account reuse it. First-timers need an e-mail ID and mobile number unused on OARS, and drop any letters from their Class 10 roll number (page 17). Identity is proved by an Aadhaar number, or else by a 15-60 KB image of a photo ID.
The photo must be recent, in colour, with a white or off-white background and open eyes (page 13). Category and other details cannot be changed after submission (page 5). Supporting papers are uploaded later, when DSSSB calls for an e-dossier from shortlisted candidates (pages 13 and 17).
On exam day, shoes and phones are the two big traps. Shoes are not allowed, and a phone found on you, even switched off, cancels your candidature (page 15).
The same Board’s Advt 04/2026 for the Delhi District Courts has 142 Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon posts for 10th pass candidates. Its forms run from 6 October to 4 November 2026 (Advt 04/2026 PDF). If you hold an ITI trade certificate and two years of work experience, see the UKSSSC Technician Grade 2 recruitment in Uttarakhand. More openings are listed under Delhi government job openings, jobs in courts and openings that need only a 10th pass.
