What Jobs Are Actually in These 607 Posts?
RAS 2026 is really two different job families in one exam, with different pay levels:

The single biggest chunk is Tehsildar with 148 posts (136 non-scheduled area + 12 scheduled area). Of the 415 subordinate posts, 36 are reserved for candidates of Rajasthan’s Scheduled (TSP) Areas; scheduled-area candidates can also apply for the other posts, but not the other way round. Your service allotment at the end depends on your final merit and the preference order you fill in the form.
Who Can Apply
- Education: a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised university. If you are appearing in your final-year exams, you can apply now; you just have to show proof of passing before the Mains exam.
- Age: 21 to under 40 as on 1 January 2027. Because the previous RAS advertisement came out in 2024, this advertisement adds an extra one-year relaxation in the upper limit on top of that. Rajasthan SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS men get +5 years and women +10 years; general-category women +5; widows and divorcees have no upper age limit at all (below 60 at appointment).
- Domicile: candidates from any state can apply, but every reservation benefit (category, fee concession, age relaxation) is only for Rajasthan natives. An SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidate from another state applies as general and pays ₹600.
RAS 2026 Exam Pattern: Prelims, Mains, Interview
Three stages, and the first one is only a filter:
- Prelims (29 November 2026, proposed): one paper, General Knowledge and General Science. 150 questions, 200 marks, 3 hours. This is a screening test; its marks do not count in the final merit. About 15 times the number of vacancies qualify for Mains.
- Mains: four descriptive papers of 200 marks each (GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, and General Hindi + General English). You need at least 10% in each paper and 15% overall to reach the interview stage.
- Interview: 100 marks. Final merit = Mains 800 + Interview 100 = 900.
The prelims rule that catches people: negative marking is one-third of a mark per wrong answer, and every question has a fifth option meaning “not attempting”. You must darken option 5 if you skip a question; leaving all five circles blank also costs you one-third mark, and leaving more than 10% of questions fully blank gets you disqualified. RPSC gives 10 extra minutes at the end specifically to verify your bubbles. The advertisement leaves the prelims mode open. It may be conducted online or offline.
Salary: What L-14 Really Means In Hand
The advertisement lists pay levels of the Rajasthan pay matrix rather than rupee amounts. The headline services (RAS, RPS, Accounts) sit at Level 14, whose initial basic pay is about ₹56,100 under the Rajasthan Revised Pay Rules 2017. With dearness allowance and house rent allowance added and NPS deducted, the realistic starting take-home for an L-14 post is roughly in the ₹85,000 to ₹95,000 range by our estimate. Subordinate services sit lower (Tehsildar at L-11, several services at L-10), so their in-hand pay is proportionately less. The advertisement itself publishes no rupee figures, so treat everything beyond the pay levels as an estimate.
Applying in the Last 2 Days: Step by Step
- Log in at sso.rajasthan.gov.in with your SSO ID (create one first if needed).
- Complete One Time Registration with Aadhaar/Jan-Aadhaar KYC. Check your Aadhaar details now: whatever name, date of birth and gender it carries get locked into your application.
- Open the Recruitment Portal, select this exam, and fill the form. Your live photo comes from the OTR capture, and you upload a scanned signature and left-hand thumb impression.
- Choose your category carefully. It cannot be changed after applying except through the paid correction window, and applying in the wrong category can cost you the candidature.
- Pay the OTR fee (nothing to pay if you already have an RPSC OTR from an earlier exam) and submit. If no Application Number is generated, your application has not been submitted. Save and print the confirmation.
After the deadline there is a 10-day correction window at ₹500, but it is only for fixing an already-submitted form. It is not a way to apply late.

RAS is Rajasthan’s flagship exam, the eligibility bar is just a degree, and the prelims is still nearly five months away, so applying now costs you ₹600 or less and keeps the door open. Once midnight of 3 July passes, this door shuts until the next cycle.
